happy bird-day...

Hello!!!  Yay!!!  I got another card made!!  This one is for the May Reverse Confetti Sketch For You To Try, Color Throwdown and AAA Cards (birthday).  I had big plans to get my card for this month's SFYTT done early, but then everything seemed to speed up and it was time for my shoulder surgery so any chance of making something until now was gone.  And since there is just a day or so left before the challenge closes I knew I had to get something made and it needed to be simple, lol!   I used the RC set Fabulous Flamingo along with the matching dies.  The flamingo was stamped using my mini MISTI so I could get a really nice image of the flamingo.  Then I die cut everything.  The rectangle panel was die cut with another RC die and stamped with the flamingo's legs and the sentiment using black ink and the body was adhered with foam dimensionals.  The banner were die cut using MFT's Stitched Fishtail Flag stax dies, trimmed down and adhered to a white panel.  The panel was then die cut with my favorite AJVD polka dot rectangle dies.  I partially embossed a portion of the panel for some additional interest.  Add the sentiment panel to the main panel and then adhered that to a rose red card base.  A few pink sequins from Pretty Pink Posh finished things off. Oh and I think I will post this to the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of anything goes.

Hey friends!!  Popping in with a card I made for several challenges:  Essentials by Ellen May Pin Sights, Freshly Made Sketches and ColourQ.   I was so happy to see that some of the colors in the beautiful pin-sights mood board corresponded nicely with the colors for the current ColourQ.  I used multiple Essentials by Ellen sets to make this card.  I started by die cutting a white panel of cardstock and then placing the panel in my mini MISTI.  The large flower from the Bold Blooms set was placed in the spot where I wanted it on the panel and then I used the "door" of the MISTI to pick it up.  The image was inked up with Delicata Golden Glitz ink and then stamped.  Since I was using the MISTI I was able to reink the image and then stamp again to get really good coverage.  The two flowers were cut from Calypso Coral cardstock using the Bold Blossoms dies and then the white flowers were cut with the Bold Blooms dies.  Those were then layered together.  The leaves from the Bold Blossoms set were die cut from light grey and adhered together.  The sentiment is from the Essentials by Ellen Fancy Thanks set.  I cut a strip of black cardstock, stamped the sentiment using watermark ink, applied gold embossing powder and heat set.  Then it was time to layer everything up, add a few sequins and adhere the panel to a card base.  I'm also going to post this to the current Time Out challenge as I used flowers on my card and there theme this time is to be inspired by the following quote: 'May all your weeds be wild flowers'

Hey friends!! I'm so happy to be popping in with a card for the current PTI blog hop.  I'm still not 100% with my shoulder so I went the easy route and used some of the die cuts that come in the PTI Mini Make It Market kit Color Pop:  Butterflies.  I took my inspiration from the overall design and pulled out some of the colors, blue, yellow and teal.  A quick wash of light yellow was brushed onto some watercolor cardstock.  Once that was dry I die cut the piece and then added my butterflies.  The die cut sentiment from Color Pop: Butterflies was die cut from a light grey cardstock twice, adhered together and then adhered over the top of the middle row of the butterflies.   The panel was then adhered to a card base made from the same light grey cardstock.  I also going to post this to the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of anything goes.  Thank you to everyone who stopped by my blog to let me know they were thinking of me as I recover from my shoulder surgery and a special thank you to my sweet bloggy friend, Lisa.  I received one of Lisa's beautiful shaker cards in the mail shortly after my surgery and it brought a huge smile to my face and really brightened my day!  Thanks, Lisa!! simply amazing...

Hey friends!  Popping in with a card to share.  For this card I used the first sketch for the May Viva la Verve sketch challenge and the inspiration photo/color combo for the May Verve diva inspiration challenge.  Since it has a flower on it I will also be posting it to the current Simon Says Stamp challenge to use flowers.   I used some fun polka dot patterned paper from Echo Park in two of the colors in the combo and then threw in some stripes from a My Favorite Things paper pad to break up all the polka dots.  The stamp set I used is the Verve set Simply Amazing.  The flowers were stamped in orange ink on the patterned paper and then die cut with the corresponding dies.  The little flower center was die cut from yellow polka dot paper and then all three were layered together.  All the squares and rectangles were die cut using various dies (A Jillian Vance Design and Spellbinders).  Since there is some metal in the inspiration photo I die cut the word amazing cut from brushed gold cardstock using the amazing die from the Verve Amazing Adjective word dies.  I cut the word several more times from plain cardstock and then adhered them together.  Stamped the sentiment on the square and then layered everything up.  One of those cards that I wasn't wild about when I finished it, but it is growing on me.   Having surgery on my right shoulder this Friday (yep... Friday the 13th!) and so there won't be much card making for me until probably this time next week!

a vase of flowers...

Hey friends!! Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!  Hope you have a wonderful day.  We are going to head out later to spend some time up north of us in the little town of Woodenville, WA.  They have a beautiful nursery called Molbak's and we are going there.  And there will most likely be a few other stops along the way!!  Have a card to share that I made using the current MFT sketch and the colors from ColourQ.   Every week I take a look at the MFT sketch and tell myself that I'm going to make something, but it never happens.  I was determined to play along this week with some yummy new MFT stamps and dies.  I used the MFT Beautiful Blooms stamps and dies for the card.  Using my mini MISTI made it so easy to line up all the little flowers... love it!!   The vase was die cut from white cardstock and then I inked it with some Stampin Up! Coastal Cabana to look like it was full of water.  The flowers and stems were stamped using SU!'s Certain Celery and Rose Red inks, as well as Hero Arts Pale Tomato.   The panel behind the vase of flowers was die cut using an MFT Inside and Out die-namics die.   Love that stitched edge.  To break up all the white I added a panel of kraft cardstock that I embossed with some burlap for a bit of texture.  Finished things up with a little banner stamped with a happy birthday sentiment.  Hmmm... now I think maybe I should have found a "Happy Mother's Day" sentiment!  Since this is a pretty clean and simple card I think I will also add it to the Creative with Stamps line up.

two cards....

Hey friends!!  Popping in with a couple of cards to share that I made for a few challenges.  The first card uses the current Freshly Made Sketches layout.  This week has been teacher appreciation and so I wanted to make a card for my little guy's teacher.   I recently got the Reverse Confetti set All Apples and the matching dies.  I also purchased the RC School Days quick card panels and so I used two of them, along with a quick card panel from another set, Hoppin' Dots, to make my card.  The little ruler is from Simon Says Stamp as is the teacher word die.  The thank you is from PTI Botanical Blocks stamp set.  I die cut the apples from a quick card panel from School Days and the leaves from the Hoppin' Dots panel.   The word teacher was also die cut from Hoppin' Dots several times and then adhered together.  The second panel from School Days was used as my base layer for all the die cuts.  To get a nice placement of the thank you I used my mini MISTI. 

The second card is for the current Color Throwdown challenge, as well as the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge:  stencil it.  I started with a panel of white cardstock and then using the stencils from the PTI Color Pop: Butterflies mini make it market kit and all the colors in the combo I created my background.   Once the stenciling was done I went back in the with detail stamps and used the same inks to add those to the butterflies.  The little flowers were added using light grey ink and then added the bodies of the butterflies using black ink.  The sentiment, also from Color Pop:  Butterflies was die cut four time and adhered together.  I added the light blue ink to create a sort of ombre effect.  The sentiment was stamped on black cardstock using watermark ink, white embossing powder was added and heat set.  I then cut the banner out using the banner die that comes in the Color Pop:  Butterflies kit.   The panel was then die cut, the die cut sentiment and banner were adhered.   Love the PTI stencils.  They are so easy to use and super sturdy!!

Hey friends!!  Wow... gorgeous weather, again, here in the Pacific Northwest!!  Today is supposed to be in the 80s!!  Popping in with a quick post.  I always try to make something for the Essentials by Ellen challenges and the door will soon be closing on the current pin-sights challenge so had I to get something made.  I have been playing around with my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors and I think I'm finally getting the hang of them... YAY!  After stamping the balloon image from Up the Happy in watermark ink three separate times I applied white embossing powder and heat set them.  Each balloon was watercolored using colors from the palette provided in the challenge and then die cut once dry.  I watercolored a panel using another color from the palette and then added some gold.  Let it dry and die cut it with an MFT inside and out stitched rectangle die.  I recently got a mini MISTI and I must say it is a pretty nifty tool.  I was able to get a nice stamping of the sentiment using the MISTI.  The strings were stamped and then I added the balloons.  A little bow from the Merry & Bright set was added to complete the scene.  Going to add this to the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of anything goes.  I'm also going to add this to the new Creative with Stamps challenge of CAS... I think this is pretty clean and simple.
