thank you....

Hello friends!  The weekend is here and the weather is absolutely fabulous here in Western Washington.  Last night I took the boys to a new wave pool that opened up recently and they had a total blast.   We will definitely be going back and soon!

Have a card for a couple of challenges:  CASE Study and ColourQ.  CASE Study is celebrating it's 2nd birthday and Chupa has lots of fun things lined up.  The CASE Study challenge this week is to create a card using your signature style.   I don't know exactly what my signature style is other than I do love to make things that are clean and simple (CAS) in style.  The ColourQ colors this week are lime green, poppy red, tangerine orange, pale pink and white.   On Wednesday I made a quick run to my favorite stamp store, Impress, and picked up a few things one of which was a new Memory Box die called Fuschia Sprig.  I used that die, along with another Memory Box die, Piestra Tile on my card.  I die cut the fuschia using lime green and poppy red card stocks.  The fuschia flower was trimmed from the red die cut and then adhered to the green die cut.  The Piestra Tile die was used on a piece of white card stock as you see.   The pale pink was brought in through the card base and the tangerine color was used to stamp the sentiment.   Adhering the fuschia was a bit of a challenge, but I managed to get it done.   And there you have it... my signature style:  clean and simple (or stunning as my friend, Sue, would say!)

Thanks for stopping by....

For the Love of Blog Hop... Makin' a Scene

Hello friends!!!  Welcome to Our Daily Bread Designs Alumni Team's bi-monthly For the Love Blog Hop.    This week the Alumni team, along with some of the ODBD designers, are featuring a hop For the Love of ODBD scenic stamps!  Check out each link and leave a comment.  If you get lost along the way, head back to the ODBD blog for a full list of links.  One of the blogs is a hop "hot spot" and a name will be drawn from that list of comments to win a $15.00 ODBD store gift certificate.  So, all you have to do is hope along and see all the creations and leave a little love!  You have until Wednesday, August 15th at 6pm to leave a comment.  Enjoy all the beautiful designs using For the Love of ODBD scenic stamps!

If you got here from the blog of the super talented Angie then you are on the right track!  My card today uses the recently released ODBD set, Cat Sympathy.   I just love the sweet little kitty sitting there amongst the flowers... so cute!!   I stamped the image using Memento Rich Cocoa and then colored the image with Copic markers.  The image was then die cut using Spellbinders plain circle dies, as was the mat.  The paper are from the My Mind's Eye Breeze 6x6 paper pad.   The butterfly was punched using a Martha Stewart punch and a few gems were added to the body.    The cardstock is PTI's kraft... my favorite!

Thanks for stopping by.... now off you go to the blog of the sweet and talented Jan!

you're amazing....

Hello friends!!  A quick post with a card I made for the current JUGs challenge that uses the current Deconstructed sketch.   Haven't done a JUGs challenge in ages!  Not entirely sure why other than by the time I get around to thinking about doing the challenge it is over!   But this time I was determined that I would get something made before the challenge ended.  The challenge this week is to make a project based on a beautiful inspiration photo.  I was pretty literal in my intrepretation, I think.

Anywhoo... for my card I used the Taylored Expressions set "Make it Amazing" and the card stock and papers are from one of my Taylored Expression Key Ingredients kit (I don't remember which month).  That particular kit came with a pad of 6x6 papers from Echo Park, the This & That line.  The butterfly was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with Copic markers and die cut using the matching TE butterfly die.  The little twiggy branch was also stamped and die cut using the matching TE die.  The zig zag piece was die cut using a die from My Favorite Things.   I finished off the butterfly by adding a bit of Diamond Stickles to the body and wings.

CCC #4.... Take Flight

Hello friends!!  Tuesday is here and that means it is time for a brand new CASology challenge!!  Yay!!  This week's cue word is "bird" and you can find all the details about the challenge here.

This week I decided to look for a sketch to help me get my card completed.  If you ever get stuck for ideas when you are trying to create your CAS style card, don't forget about sketches.   Clean and Simple is a great resource to turn to for inspiration, as well as Retro Sketches.   It is also possible to "CAS-ify" more complex sketches that you might come across.  Simply spend a little bit of time deconstructing the sketch and figuring out ways you can use your stamps or other supplies (like twine) to replaces those layers.    I chose to use the current sketch from Retro Sketches for my card as it is a great example of a CAS sketch.

The papers I used are from a favorite 6x6 pad from Echo Park called Hello, Summer.  One of the papers has this fun cloud pattern on it and thankfully I still had a sheet of it that I could use for my card.  The little bird was created using my Stampin Up! bird punch.  The body was punched from some pink Bazzill cardstock and the wing from a scrap of yellow gingham paper.  I brought all the colors together by creating my little ribbon piece using some yellow ribbon, a blue button and pink baker's twine.

Thanks for stopping by.... make sure you check out the cards from the rest of the design team:
Melissa, Tracey, Jen, Ardyth and this week's guest designer, Lindsey!   Can't wait to see what you come up with using this week's cue word!

Live in the....

sunshine!  Hello, friends!  Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.  We haven't had alot of sunshine this weekend, but that's okay with me.  I like it when things cool down a bit. I think many of my fellow LIMettes who live in the UK are finally getting some sunshine, though.  Just in time for the Olympics!  I had a chance to make a couple of cards one of which I'm going to share right now.   This card is for the current Less is More challenge, as well as the current Dynamic Duos challenge (Early Espresso & Crumb Cake).   This week Chrissie and Mandi provide us with a lovely CAS sketch to work with.

I went with a white card base and then added a piece of Crumb Cake that I stamped with an image from the Stampin Up! SAB set Fresh Vintage using Early Espresso ink.  I also added a little butterfly from another Stampin Up! SAB set Elementary Elegance.  Some really sweet daisy trim that I purchased from the Funkie Junkie's Zibbits store was added to the bottom of the stamped piece along with some Crumb Cake seam binding.   The sentiment (also from SU! - Pursuit of Happiness) was stamped using Early Espresso to finish everything off.   I think I will putting this into the current Sunday Share over at Frilly & Funkie.  I know I have said this before, but if you have never checked out the Funkie Junkie's Zibbits store you really should.  Linda has some really lovely items.

the earth laughs....

Hello, again.... its Friday evening for me as I type this post.  Have a quick card that I made using this week's ColourQ combo (Brilliant Blue, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Regal Rose and white) and the current ISpy sketch.

I used a Stampin Up! set called Fabulous Florets.  When I saw the ColourQ combo this set is actually what first came to mind.   The ISpy sketch this week is super clean and simple and absolutely perfect for the Fabulous Florets set.    White strip was trimmed to fit the card base and then stamped with the stem using Kiwi Kiss.  The flower was stamped using Memento Danube Blue, trimmed out and adhered to the stem using foam dimensionals.  A bit of Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon was then tied around the piece and it was adhered to the card base.  Finished off the card with the sentiment stamped in Baja Breeze.  I really like this ISpy sketch.  I think you will be seeing me use this one again in the very near future!
