DeNami Design Sketch Challenge #4

A quick post of a card I made for the current DeNami Design challenge.  The challenge ends in just a few hours so I'm really squeakin' in!   We were provided with a great sketch to work from this time around.  I used on of my favorite DeNami stamps, Leafy Vine Wreath, as well as one of their new super cute little pumkins, Small Jack O'Lantern.  I stamped the wreath on cream cardstock, die cut it with a Spellbinders plain circle die and then colored the leaves with autumnal colors.   The little pumpkin was stamped on cream cardstock and colored with my Copics.  He was trimmed out and adhered in the middle of the wreath.   I stamped a small leaf from a Hero Arts set, Season of Giving, on the brown cardstock with VersaMark Dazzle Frost ink, but it is kinda hard to see.

Thanks for taking a peek... have a great day.  I will be back later with another card!  Yikes!

SNTODBD18

Squeaking in with a card for Our Daily Bread's Stamping In Time challenge.  The challenge was to make a card using both ribbon and lace, something I don't often do.  I love to use ribbon on my cards and I do have some really pretty ribbon lace from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, but I haven't used it alot.  I did for my card today.  Since I'm getting my card in at the last minute, I kept things really simple.  I loosely based my card on a Mojo Monday sketch from a week or so ago that I really liked.  Not posting it since that particular challenge is over.   Cardstock and ribbon are from Stampin Up!  Lace ribbon is from May Arts.

Thanks for taking a peek... have a wonderful day!  I know I am!  Sweet Angella from the ODBD design team picked this card, as the ODBD Customer Card of the Day, today!  Thanks so much Angela!

Pairing Up Challenge - Day 2

Back today with my card for day 2 of my pairing up challenge with Latrice.  For this challenge we used the fall colors of orange, red and brown and the Hero Arts set Real Leaves or in my case, the Hero Arts cling Maple Leaf.   I don't have the Real Leaves set, but the cling maple leaf is a very close match to the maple leaf from the Real Leaves set.  I went clean & simple for my card today.  Cardstock and patterned paper are all PaperTrey Ink.  The sentiment is from the Hero Arts set A Season of Giving.

Thanks for taking a peek today... make sure you head over to Latrice's blog to check out her wonderful creation!

Pairing up w/Latrice + City Crafters

A card today for a fun challenge that started over at the Hero Arts Flickr group.  Joy of Less is More and Jennifer McGuire spent a week in August challenging each other to create a card using a different Hero Arts stamp each day.  After some prompting from another member of the group, Joy started a thread where those of us who want to do a similar challenge could sign up and then be paired up with another Flickr member.

My partner for the challenge is sweet Latrice and today we are using the Hero Arts set A Kiss from the Sun for our cards.  I also decided to use the sketch from the current City Crafters Challenge Blog (CCCB23) for my card.  I just adore A Kiss from the Sun, especially the cute little sun dress.   For my card I used some really cute Cosmo Cricket Material Girl papers.   After stamping the dress on a piece of the patterned paper I trimmed it out and added a bit of Hero Arts lace ribbon to the bottom of the dress.  To tone the colors down a bit I did some distressing using Close to My Heart's Parchment ink.  It provides a lovely softness to the edges of your patterned paper and cardstock.

Thanks for taking a peek and don't forget to take a look at Latrice's wonderful project!  Have a fabulous day!  I will be back on Wednesday with another Hero Arts card for the challenge.

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI Vintage Cream; SU! Pure Poppy & So Saffron; PP:  Cosmo Cricket - Material Girl; Stamps:  Hero Arts - A Kiss from the Sun; Ink:  SU! So Saffron; VersaMagic Brick Red; CTMH Parchment;  Hero Arts Ribbon Lace; Bakers Twine - Impress; KaiserCraft Pearls

ColourQ 51...

and another challenging set of colors for CQC51, but when I initially saw them I thought to myself:  "how pretty, I'm sure I can come up with something, no problem"...  Well, I did have a problem.   I made a card last night that after I finished it I just didn't like how it turned out.  And upon reflection I concluded that it was because I used way too much of the Poppy Parade color and way too much white.  I spent most of today rethinking how I would combine the colors and I think I came up with a more pleasing combination.  I kpet Poppy Parade to a minimum, as well as the white.

I used the current CPS sketch 185 to help me along.  And I think I still have enough time to post the card on the CPS blog.

Thanks for taking a peek.... hope your weekend is going well!

White & Bright ODBDSLC

A card today for ODBDSLC30 to make it white & bright.  The only color had to come from our stamped images and any embellishments we wanted to use.  Took me along time to figure out exactly how I wanted my card to turn out.  I finally settled on using PaperTrey Ink's Ocean Tides ink, ribbon and buttons.  Ocean Tides is one of my favorite PTI colors and I just love it combined with white.  The ODBD set I used is "As You Graduate".  I don't have alot of graduation cards to make, ever, but I loved the main image in the set and to be honest the set is perfect for any kind of card.

Thanks for taking a peek... have a wonderful day!  It is raining here in Washington State.  A good time to get some papercrafting done!

Simplicity in Nature

My card for One Layer Wednesday to let nature inspire us.  I chose to use stamps from Flourishes Ferns & Fiddles set for my card.  I did some embossing with my Spellbinders rectangle dies, something I hadn't done in awhile.  I was prepared for it not to turn out right, but thankfully it did on the first try!! Yay!!!  Even though fall is upon us now I didn't want to use real fall looking colors for my card.  I went with SU!'s River Rock cardstock & Old Olive ink.

Thanks for taking a peek... hope you are having a fabulous day.   I know I am!  I got some happy mail today... a HUGE box of stamps and dies from Heartfelt Creations and my comp. copy of the new Just Cards!  And later this afternoon... I'm going to Sonic for the first time!!  Yipeee!

ColourQ50 and FTL108

Going to keep things short again, today with a quick post about my card for ColourQ50.  The colors this week are three colors from the new Stampin Up! In Color line up:  Cherry Cobler, Pear Pizzaz & Peach Parfait, as well as the new Stampin Up! color Early Espresso & white.   I used the new sketch from Clean & Simple, FTL108 for the layout.  When I made the card this morning I really liked it, but now I'm not so sure.  But no going back now!

As always with SU!'s in colors line up I don't always like all the colors.  This year I'm not really wild about two of the colors:  Blushing Bride (too similar to Pink Pirouette) and Concord Crush (I'm not a huge fan of purple), but I am wild about Cherry Cobler & Pear Pizzaz.  Cherry Cobler is this rich, deep red and Pear Pizzaz is a beautiful shade of green.   I think both of them will be in my September SU! order! (ETA:  My oops!! Cherry Cobler isn't in the In Color line up!  But it is a new SU! color.)

Thanks from taking a peek... hope your weekend is going well.

Supplies:  Cardstock:  SU! Whisper White, Cherry Cobler; Pear Pizzaz & Peach Parfail pp; Ink:  SU! Early Espress; Stamps:  {Stamps}of Life Hello2You; Cuttlebug; Spellbinders Large Scallope & Large Circle dies; Cuttlebug Polka Dot embossing folder; SU! Two Step bird punch

Egads.....My 2nd Post of the Day!

Yikes...!  That's a little too much posting, ya know??  Probably accounts for the reason why after only four months of blogging I have over 100 posts!! Crazy, crazy, crazy...

But, on to my card... this time for One Layer Wednesday.    The challenge this week is to stamp three images and then a sentiment.  Lately my favorite way to stamp three of something is to do some 2nd and 3rd generation stamping.  I just love the look.  And my favorite stamps to accomplish this type of stamping?? Stampin Up!'s Echoes of Kindness set.  I absolutely adore the line drawn images in the set.  All three of the floral images are just beautiful and the sentiment is lovely, as well.  One of these days I have to try coloring them!  I didn't use the sentiment for the card, though.  Instead I used a sentiment from the There She Goes set, Bloom.  Inks are from Close to My Heart, Autumn Terracotta and New England Ivy for an autumnal feel.  Cardstock is PTI's Vintage Cream.  I added a few rhinestones for a bit of bling.

Thanks for taking a peek...

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI Vintage Cream; Ink:  Close to My Heart Autumn Terracotta & New England Ivy; Stamps:  SU! Echoes of Kindness; Rhinestones:  Hero Arts

Heartfelt Creations

On Wednesday I found out that I am now on the Heartfelt Creations design team and today I'm going to share a card that I made using a stamp from one of the sets I received from them.  The set is called "Joyous Noel" and was just released this last Tuesday by Heartfelt Creations.

Thanks for taking a peek.... hope to be back later with my card for One Layer Wednesday.

Squeakin' in with ODBDSLN29

So... I'm squeakin' in with my card for ODBDSLN29, to have some sparkle on my card.   I have a tendency to do that far too often. I tell myself with each new challenge that I'm going to get my project done right away, but something always comes up.   Anyway, I did finally get something done.  I used my brand spankin' new set of Spellbinders Lacey Squares dies.  I got them from Flowers to Flourishes, a really cool website that posts one deal per day and you can pretty much always get the product at about 30% to 50% off retail.  Shipping is generally only $4.99, which is another plus.  Recently they started selling the new Spellbinders dies for $13.99 even with shipping the cost for a set still comes in well under alot of other retailers.   Check'em out..

In an effort to get better at coloring with my Copics, I got them out to color the flowers and butterfly. I really like how the flowers turned out.   My bit of sparkle comes from Diamond Stickles applied to the center of the flower and to the body of the butterfly.

Thanks for taking a peek.... hope your day is going well!   So far so good for me!  On another note, today's post is my 100th!!  Can't believe I have reached that many posts in just the 4 months that I have been bloggin!  Yikes!

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI white & spring rain; Stamps:  ODBD Don't Worry; Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black; Spellbinders Lacey Square dies; Cuttlebug; Rnager Diamond  Stickles

Very Vintage Christmas

Another short post today.  My 2nd for the day, actually.   I got some really exciting stamp related news this morning and it really got me in the mood to make something...  So I decided to complete a card for the Waltzingmouse sketch challenge before the challenge ended!  Yippeee!!   I love the vintage look and feel of alot of the sets from Waltzingmouse.  One of my favorites being the Very Vintage Christmas set.  I paired the stamps from the set with BasicGrey's Wassail 6x6 papers and several different inks.   As you can see, I chose to turn the sketch on it's side for my card.  My card is also not the traditional 5.5 x 4.25".

If you haven't ever taken a peek at Waltzingmouse stamps, you really should.  Claire just released 5 new sets and they are fantastic!  I especially like the Nutcraker Sweet set and I'm scheming on how I'm going to add it to my collection!

Thanks for taking a peek... hope you have a wonderful day (or evening whichever the case!)

Supplies:  Cardstock:  Bazzill red; PTI kraft & vintage cream; BasicGrey Wassail; Ink:  Stampin Up! Riding Hood Red; Ranger Forest Moss & Bundled Sage Distress inks; SU! Riding Hood Red wide ribbon; Stamps:  WM Very Vintage Christmas; punch:  EK Success Bracket punch

Running Around in Circles & Jumping Up & Down....

Not really, but I am so incredibly excited!   I just found out that I am now on my FIRST EVER STAMP DESIGN TEAM!!!  For the next 6 months I will be designing for Heartfelt Creations!!  I have had the opportunity to use their stamps and coordinating Spellbinders dies over the last few weeks and I have to say they are wonderful!!  I cannot wait to get the chance to show you their incredible line of stamps and dies!!!

Sorry... Another Black, White & Hot Pink Card!

Well, here I am today with another black, white & hot pink color combo.   This time for the current DeNami Design color challenge, #4.  It's kinda funny that in the last week I have made at least three cards using this color combo, but to be honest its a combo that I really like so I totally enjoyed making each card!   The current DeNami challenge doesn't require you to use DeNami stamps, but when I do a challenge issued by a stamp company I do like to use their stamps on my card, if I have some!   Anywhoo... I used the stamp Filagree Centerpiece for the card.  The image was stamped on the hot pink cardstock using Versamark Dazzle ink in Frost and then on the white cardstock using PTI's True Black.  I colored in the open work with my Tuxedo Black Memento marker and Rosebud Memento marker and then added the hot pink rhinestones.  Used my favorite punch:  Fiskars Upper Crust to punch the bottoms of the pink & black cardstock.  Layered everything on the white card base and finished with PTI's True Black double stitched ribbon.

Thanks for taking a peek... have a wonderful day!

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI White & True Black; SU! Passion Pink; Stamp:  DeNami Design Filagree Centerpiece; Ink:  PTI True Black; Memento Tuxedo Black & Rosebud, VersaMark Dazzle - Frost; Rhinestones:  Kaiser Craft; Ribbon:  PTI True Black; Punch:  Fiskars Upper Crust

Play Date Cafe' #46

I haven't done the PlayDate Cafe (PDCC46) challenge for along time, but when I saw that the challenge was to use black & white, plus your choice of pink, gold or copper I thought I would include a card I made yesterday for the Hero Arts/Operation Write Home virtual card party that happened over the weekend.  This is a super simple one layer card made using the new Hero Arts Fabulous Flourish design block.  Fabulous Flourish is the perfect name as this stamp is fabulous.  The sentiment is from the Hero Arts set Paris.   Next stop for this card:  Sandy Allnock of Operation Write Home.  If you have never checked out OWH, please do.  It is a great organization that provides handmade cards to our troops around the world!

Thanks for taking a peek.... have a wonderful day!

ColourQ49....

I made a card yesterday using the current ColourQ combo of Soft Suede, Night of Navy, Pacific Point & Marine Mist but I wasn't really happy with how the card turned out.  It's not a bad card, just felt I could do a better job.  As I was putting away things last night I glanced at the SU! set Fifth Avenue Floral and a new card was born.  Had to wait until this morning to make it though and to figure out if I had a color of ink that was a close match to Marine Mist.  Happy to say that I do!  Hero Arts' Cerulean Blue chalk ink is a really good match, YAY!!  I stamped the large rose image using the Cerulean and Palette's Starry Night, a pretty good match for Night of Navy.  The sentiment was stamped using Ranger's Brushed Corduroy, which is also a pretty good match for Soft Suede.  Finished the card off with some Pacific Point ribbon.  I had originally stamped the sentiment using Pacific Point ink (the one and only SU! color from the combo I actually own!), but I didn't like it as well as when I stamped it with the Brushed Corduroy.

Thanks for taking a peek... have a wonderful day and if you have never checked out ColourQ, you really should!

Simplicity in Black & White

A short post this morning... maybe back later with another one!  My card for Susan's One Layer Wednesday challenge.  Her challenge this week?   Black and white with a tiny pop of color.  I decided to go with SU!'s Melon Mambo which is a nice hot pink color for the pop of color.  All stamps are from Hero Arts.  Cardstock is PTI's white... my favorite white cardstock!

Thanks for taking a peek.... hope your day goes well!

JUGs Challenge 49

Got a chance to make a card for the current JUGs challenge (#49).  The challenge this week?   A lovely sketch.  I hadn't used my distress inks in awhile so I got them out and went to work.  I stamped the new Hero Arts stamp Bold Pumpkin and the Hero Arts cling, Two Vine Scrolls with Brushed Corduroy distress ink on Vintage Cream, trimmed them out and then distressed with Scattered Straw & Wild Honey distress inks.  I ran the Vintage Cream panel through the Cuttlebug with the SU! Lattice Square embossing folder and distressed that as well.  The sentiment is from a Hero Arts cling set A Season of Giving.

Thanks for taking a peek... have a wonderful day!

ODBDSLC28 with Buttons..

Another quick post today... this one for ODBDSLC28.  The challenge was to use "forgotten" embellishments like buttons, brads or eyelets.  I chose to use buttons.  I also used the Splitcoaststampers CAS challenge sketch for the card and some Cosmo Cricket DeLovely pp that I had already cut into squares.  The butterflies are from two different Stampin Up! sets:  Punched Posies & Punch Potpourri.   The sentiment from the ODBD set Friendship.

My fellow Flickr friend, Nicky is having a giveaway on her blog.  Go check it out!

A Couple of Simple Fall Cards

I have a couple of simple fall cards today.  One for the current CAS challenge at Splitcoaststampers and the other using the current Clean & Simple sketch (FTL 106).

The first card is the CAS card I made for the Splitcoaststampers challenge.  I used the new {Stamps}of Life set, Spooks2Scare, that I just got in the mail on Saturday.   {Stamps}of Life has a monthly stamp club and if you join every month you automatically get the new stamp set sent to you.  Then on the 7th, Stephanie, the owner, reveals additional new sets for the month.  One of the best parts??? The stamps are good quality and inexpensive!!  Check'em out!

The second card I made using FTL106.  I really like the Clean & Simple blog and alot of my cards are made using Natasha's wonderful CAS sketches.  Yet another blog that if you haven't checked out, you really should!

Thanks for taking a peek.... hope you had a wonderful day!

Supplies:  Trick or Treat card:  Cardstock:  PTI Vintage Cream, SU! Pumpkin Pie; Ink:  PTI True Black, Memento Grape; Black Diamond & Diamond Stickles, Stamps:  {Stamps}of Life - Spooks2Scare

Follow Your Heart....

and it will help you make a really simple card!  This is my simple card for the current ColourQ challenge (CQC48).    The only stamping on the card is the sentiment from the SU! set Whimsical Words.   I punched all the hearts using my SU! Full Heart punch and then ran two through the Cuttlebug in the SU! Square Lattice embossing folder and the Embosslit die Scalloped Heart of Hearts.  The sentiment was stamped on a piece of kraft cardstock with black ink and then punched out using the Full Heart punch.  I arranged the hearts, adhering some with foam dimensionals, wrapped the piece with the twine and then adhered the kraft heart over the time.

Thanks for taking a peek and for the lovely comments... have a wonderful day!

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI cream & kraft, SU! tangerine tango, bermuda bay, cherry cobler & daffodil delight; Stamps:  SU! whimsical words; twine:  may arts; Ink:  Memento tuxedo black; Cuttlebug; SU! embossing folder; Sizzix embosslit die

Pale Leaves.....

So... it was really hard to take a picture of this photo.  I got one I like, but the card is just soo washed out.  Wishing I had one of those lightbox thingies.... sigh!   Enough about bad picture taking, the card is really neat IRL, though and I made it for Color Throwdown and Pals Papers Arts (PPA58) challenges.   The PPA challenge this week is to use pearls and I initially thought I would go with something using the colors in their inspiration photo (black & white), but then I saw Color Throwdown's colors and went off in a completely different direction.

I have had these fantastic pearl flourishes from Zva Creative and have wanted to use them for the longest time and the PPA challenge gave me the perfect opportunity.  I like the idea of combining something elegant (the pearl flourish) with something a little more rustic (the leaves).  I recently purchased one of Hero Arts new Little Clings - Maple Leaf and wanted to ink it up.  What caused me to have difficulties photographing the card is the fact that I used So Saffron ink to stamp the leaf... it doesn't show up real well.   Sigh..., again! The sentiment is from the HA set Thoughtful Messages.   I cut a strip of So Saffron cs and a strip of Choc. Chip cs, punched on edge with my favorite punch, Upper Crust, crumpled both a bit and layered them.  The pearl flourish was layered over top of the strips and then the leafs attached with a pop dot.  A bit of dark brown satin ribbon was added, as well.

Thanks for taking a peek... have a wonderful day!

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI kraft, SU! So Saffron & Choc. Chip; Ink:  SU! So Saffron, Choc. Chip & More Mustard; Stamps:  Hero Arts Little Cling  Maple Leaf; Thought Messages; Fiskars Upper Crust punch; Zva Creative pearl flourish; PTI Dark Choc. satin ribbon.

One Layer Tree....

Super quick post.  The new One Layer Wednesday challenge (OLW18) is to use a tree stamp.  Susan had some lovely cards she made using the Hero Arts Slanted Tree stamp and so I was inspired to get out mine and ink it up.  I used some markers from Close to My Heart (Sunflower, Garden Green, Barn Red & Autumn Terracotta) to color the tree.  The sentiment from the Close to My Heart set Many Thanks and stamped in SU!'s Close to Cocoa.  After I found the Hero Arts flickr group early in 2009, the Slanted Tree stamp was one of my first Hero Arts purchases.  It is still one of my favorite Hero Arts stamps...

Thanks for taking a peek... have a wonderful day!

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI White; Stamps:  Hero Arts Slanted Tree, Close to My Heart Many Thanks; Ink:  SU! Close to Cocoa; Close to My Heart Sunflower, Garden Green, Barn Red & Autumn Terracotta
