Oh... Cut It Out!!!

Hey there!!  Back with my card for this week's Less is More challenge, as well as CAS-ual Fridays.  The challenge this week at LIM is to incorporate an opening or aperture as the British LIMettes would say in our clean and simple design.    Thus the reason for my post title.  The challenge at CAS-ual Friday is to make a black & white card in honor of penguin awareness day.  Who knew there was a penguin awareness day? Both ideas seem pretty simple, but boy oh boy did the LIM challenge give me problems!!  I had several fantastic ideas... unfortunately I could not make any of them work.  I even went to the craft store in hopes of finding the tool I needed to make my dream a reality, but alas... it was not to be.   So, I settled on a much simpler and more do-able idea.

I had a piece of black cardstock and a white cardbase ready to go, so I cut the black cardstock down a bit and trimmed a 1/4" off the card base on the long side.  The 2nd smallest Spellbindes plain heart die was placed on the cardstock and then run through my Big Shot.  After that I placed the diecut piece in my PTI quatrefoil die, placed a tan embossing mat on top and ran it through the Big Shot again to emboss the quatrefoil image onto the cardstock.  Some thin white ribbon was tied around the piece and then I added the button and bakers twine.  I adhered the piece to the card base and then stamped the sentiment from the Hero Arts set Year Round Sentiment inside the heart.

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI white & true black; Stamps:  Hero Arts; Ink:  VersaFine Black Onyx; Dies:  Spellbinders & PTI; Ribbon:  Stampin Up!; Twine:  The Twinery

  5. This is wonderful Rosemary, that embossing is beautiful.
If only PTI products were available in the UK without huge postage costs. We can't even save by ordering lots at the same time, as the British customs often sting us if the value is over a meagre amount!
    Hey Ho!
Maybe we could get our American friends to purchase the products for us and send them on to us labelled as gifts... where the allowance would greater.
But I digress... your card is as fab as ever. Just love it!
    Thanks so much
