Hello friends! Hope all is well in your part of the world. As I write this post the 4th of July is almost over in my part of the USA. Hubby and kids our out back blowing things up (which is not allowed in our city, but happens anyway!) and the dog is freaking out. Will be so happy when it is all over. While all this was going on I did manage to make a card for a couple challenges: ColourQ and Sketchbook Saturday.
As I tried to figure out what to make using the Sketchbook Saturday sketch I initially thought I would use the PTI set Happiness in Bloom, but tried as I might I just couldn't make it work. So, I decided to pull out my Reverse Confetti set Peacock Pretties and use that instead. Not super happy with how the card turned out, though. I think that has to do with the fact that while I had the desire to make a card I just really didn't have the necessary creativity to make it a great card. Oh well... Since I used Reverse Confetti stamps for the card I will (just for the fun of it...) link it up to this week's Fetti Finds. I have to say that as I was trimming out the second feather I had the following thought: "boy, it sure would be nice if Jen (the owner of Reverse Confetti) decided to make a die that matched the feather"!
Thanks for stopping by...
Supplies: Cardstock: SU! kraft and navy; PTI white; Stamps: Reverse Confetti; Inks: SU! Real Red, Night of Navy & More Mustard; PP: SU! DP; Punch: EK Success border punch
I think you made great use of the sketch & how you incorporated the colors--it's a wonderful card, Rosemary! Hope everything has calmed down at your place now. Glad our Keesha is pretty much deaf so the fireworks don't bother her.
ReplyDeletehi Rosemary, sounds like the kids are keeping busy today (the big one too!). I am sure they will sleep well tonight :) My older cat was camping out in the basement on Canada day as the fireworks were scaring her. Love your take on this colour challenge and how you have made the sentiment the main focal point. Happy July 4th to you! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Rosemary, I love your trendy feathers! So glad you had time to make a card on the 4th! Thanks for playing with us at the colourQ this week.
ReplyDeleteRosemary, your card is just gorgeous. I am with you on a die to match the feather stamp. YIKES!!!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of getting a Thundershirt for my dog...I have talked to several people and they say it really works. Just an idea!
Gorgeous Rosy! Beautiful done!

Wonderful take on the sketch, Rosemary! Sounds like a win- won situation at your house :D
ReplyDeleteA delight, Rosemary, a perfect take on the sketch and the colours! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE this, Rosemary! The feather is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love watching the fireworks...don't like hearing them! :)
Let's agree to disagree on the creativity put into this piece, ok? :)
ReplyDeleteI love it. Seriously. BIG time :)
I really love how you used the feathers to frame the sentiment! I know what you mean about matching dies- I think it should be mandatory for all intricate images to have one! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI like your take on the sketch, particularly the way you used the peacock feathers.
ReplyDeleteI think this is fabulous!! That sketch stumped me -- wish I'd thought of the peacock feathers! (And by the way, you're not the only one lobbying Jen for some matching dies {wink}!)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous as ever :)
ReplyDeleteSuch an original creative design, Rosemary! Congratulations on the Courtier honor from ColourQ!!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to congratulate you on your ColourQ Courtier win! Beautiful card! I love the feathers and the sentiment is great.
