Hello friends... I don't normally share personal things on my blog because well... this is a blog about my cards. But recently a friend died and she died way too soon and this has hit me kinda hard. I have gone back and forth about whether or not I wanted to blog about Vicki's passing, but finally decided that I needed to do this... for me. I first learned that Vicki was very ill on January 17th. I was able to visit her on January 25th and for that I am very grateful because Vicki passed away on January 26th. Her memorial service was yesterday (Febuary 8th). I was able to attend along with some other friends. I made this card for her family... Vicki loved the color purple and so the card had to include that color in a prominent way.
I used my PTI Sweet Life stamp set, as well as a sentiment and a portion of the frame from the Boutique Borders: Sympathy set. The inside was finished with sentiment from the PTI With Sympathy set.
Vicki was a wife, a mom, a sister, a photographer, and a business woman. She had a real gift for photography and was able to turn that gift into a successful business. She photographed hundreds of weddings (including mine and my sister's) and other special events. But more important than all of that Vicki was a Jesus girl! She loved the Lord and served him faithfully. She will be tremendously missed by everyone who knew her. A friend sent me this photo of me and Vicki at our class reunion last July.
Thank you to those of you who stop by for a look and to those of you who take the time to leave me a comment... it means a lot to me.

ReplyDeleteHello Rosie,
ReplyDeleteSometimes it is good to write down your feelings;it does help. I remember when my friend died last year I felt exactly the same, re not mentioning my sadness on the Blog. But the support and kind words were considerate and gracious, as I am sure you will realise once you read all the sympathetic messages, we have all lost loved ones at some stage, this is life and unfortunately it continues on regardless how we are feeling.
Your card is perfect, keeping it simple with the calming palette of Purple and Green, you have related a quiet and sentimental feeling.
I am thinking of you, imagine a big hug squeezing you tight at this moment...it is from me.
Smiles:)
Sue
Rosemary, I am so sorry for your loss; your friend sounded like a wonderful woman in so many ways. Know that your sincere words today are matched with sincere condolences, for even though we may have not met "in person," we are all brothers and sisters in our Lord. Your card is a beautiful testament to your friend, using the gifts you have been given; I'm sure it will bring much comfort to her family. Know that you and your friend's family will be in my prayers today.

ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss ROsie, I know exactly how you feel... Big hugs to you and I love that pic of the two of you sharing a lovely time together, I'm sure you have lots of nice memories of her. Lovely card.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to say goodbye. But I believe as you do that you will see her again. Having lost many loved ones, young and older, I know how important those cards are. I still take them out occasionally and read them. Thank you for sharing what you are going through with us. Your card is lovely and I'm sure it will bring her family comfort.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to add my sincere sympathy to those already here, Rosemary. Last year I lost my very best friend from high school. We graduated in 1956. And, even though we have both had long and happy lives, it doesn't make it any easier. We always kept in touch and I feel as though I lost a part of myself. What comfort it must give you to know that she loved the Lord.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card for Vicki's family!
