Hello and happy Thursday everyone! The new Simon Says Stamp Kisses release is now live on the SSS website. You can find the entire release right here. This release is full of love and Valentine's Day vibes and works perfectly with the Hugs release that happened in December. You can see that release here.
Simon was so kind and sent me a beautiful hot foil plate simply called Damask. I created two cards with the foil plate. One using the plate in the traditional way and the other using the plate to deboss like a letterpress. An affiliate linked list of products will be at the end of this post. Using my links allows me to earn a small commission at no cost to you. Thank you for your support. Let take a look at my first card.
My first card uses the plate for hot foiling. I decided to foil the image on light pink cardstock with red foil. I have learned that some foils work better than others for foiling, especially when it comes to colored cardstock. So the foiling wasn't perfect, but sometimes you just have to embrace "not so perfect". I wanted the image to be a focal point so I trimmed it out. I die cut a panel of the same pink cardstock with a rectangle die and then embossed it with the SSS Blossom Field embossing folder. The sentiment is from the SSS XL Love Greetings stamp set. I embossed it in white on vellum, trimmed the vellum into a strip, wrapped it around the panel and secured it on the back. The panel was then adhered to a white cardstock base. This card works for the current Color Hues challenge of red and pink so I will be adding it to the gallery there.
Two pretty cards, Rosemary! Great idea to show the versatility of hot foil plate!
ReplyDeleteThese are both so very pretty!!! I'm loving that debossed look on Card 2 and the pink embossing on Card 1. Thanks so much for thinking of us here at the Color Hues challenge blog!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing how you used the new hot foil plate, and both look great from here! I love it foiled in red on the beautifully embossed pink card! Thanks for sharing with us at Color Hues!
ReplyDeleteSIGH! OH! So beautiful cards Rosemary, love how you used the die both ways. With the pink and red so pretty and the red and white delicate, I think.

Very pretty, and yes I think we have to embrace the imperfections as they can make quite a statement too, and your foiling definitely does. The debossing is very interesing, I have not done this technique either but is a great base for your delicate elements
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards with the foil plate, Rosemary! It didn't call to me out of that SSS release but - wow - love what you've done with it! So pretty foiled on pink cardstock and I love the debossing - so effective with your embellishments!!
ReplyDeleteLove these cards & the totally different looks with that plate! Wonderful embossing folder & design for the first card! The second card is really fun with the debossing. I'm with you on not requiring perfection! However, these look perfect to me!
ReplyDeleteThese are both such beautiful cards Rosemary! Thank you so much for sharing with us at the Color Hues!
