This Was A Challenge!

Trying to make a card for the current Play Date Cafe challenge (PDCC32) was definitely a challenge in more than one way!   It started off easy enough when I decided to use the current Clean & Simple sketch FTL93.  I also thought I would try the color layering technique that Shari shared on the Hero Arts blog.

So I'm all set, right?   Well, not so fast.   It took three attempts to finally get the card I wanted and I'm still not really happy with it.  It all started with my decision to use PTI's Lemon Tart ink.  Now, I adore Lemon Tart cardstock and ribbon, but the ink, not so much.   After some frustrating attempts with Lemon Tart ink I gave up and decided to use Memento's Dandelion, which provided a much better result.   Once the ink issue was resolved I was ready to move on to finishing the card with some PTI Melon Berry ribbon.  I laid down my strip of Scor-Tape and start pleating the ribbon.  I'm almost done when I realize that the bottom edge of the ribbon was too close to the sentiment!  Grrrhh!  But I was committed at that point, so I finished up the card.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Supplies:   Cardstock:  PTI White; SU! Blush Blossom; Ink:  SU! Cameo Coral; Memento Dandelion; Ribbon:  PTI Melon Berry; Stamps:  PTI - Turning a New Leaf; Hero Arts - Thoughtful Messages; Antique Engravings

  2. Well, just look at YOU! Now you're just trying to tire out the mere mortals... {myself!} That ribbon is exquisite!!! I'm not totally familiar with PTI colors yet, but one of these days, most likely. All that talk about lemon, though, is talkin' to my sweet tooth! I think this is lovely, Rose! The sentiment squish is frustrating ~ been there DONE that! But it still works and is very complimentary to the color swatch! You are ALWAYS laying down MORE and more technique and I think this totally works as a whole! Great card craftin, sweet sista of the CRAFT! I'm off to drink some lemonade!

  3. This is lovely. Soft and pretty and I really like the layerd colors of the vine image. PTI's new ink is not the best, so I hear your frustrations...
