Is that sometimes they can really trip you up. Take, for instance, this week's color combo from ColourQ. And absolutely lovely combo of pink, light green, kraft, white and very dark brown. Piece of cake I thought when I saw it. I love using kraft in my cardmaking because kraft just goes with well... everything! But when I got down to it I had such a hard time putting something together that I really liked. But, the funny thing is... in the end I made two cards!
Card #1: I used a Penny Black stamp called Butterfly Suite for this card. The stamp is rather large and I think that was my problem. Even after trimming the cardstock down as close to the image as I could and distressing the edges, it still seemed a bit too large for me.
Card #2: For this card I used a sketch from The Paper Players and a newly acquired Stampin Up! stamp called Pattern Pieces. I stamped the image on some paper from the Girl's Paperie using Early Espresso ink and then trimmed out the pieces. The image was stamped again on white cardstock and the trimmed out piece adhered with foam dimensionals. The sentiment is from the Hero Arts set A Kiss from the Sun.
Thanks for taking a peek.... let me know which one you like best. Me? I like card #2 the best.
Supplies: Both cards: PTI kraft & white; SU! Pink Pirouette & Certain Celery; Ink: Certain Celery & Early Espresso; Bakers Twine; EK Success punch; SU! cord button
Your first card is very pretty and I don't think the image is too large. I love these colors with the kraft! Your second card would be my fave of the two, only because it has more pink in it! Such a fun design with the sentiment, Rosie! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, these are BEAUTIFUL, Rosemary! My favourite is the first one, though!
ReplyDeleteThey are both so beautiful, Rosemary! Love the pattern pieces!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Love the colors, the sketch and that pattern is fantastic! Overall, it's an awesome card!!!
ReplyDeleteRosemary, that's a tough decision... which one do I like best. Mmmm... I don't think I could actually choose one over the other. I love the softness of the first, and the perfect placement of the pattern pieces on the second. I also love the bakers twine and button on the second - but love the distressing on the first! Either way - they are both gorgeous cards and I am so glad you joined the Paper Players this week

Ohhhhh, THAT'S NOT FAIR! I love THEM both! {!} Your use of these colors - Yeowza! PERFECTION! I do love them both, but I have to say that your use of that delightful button and baker's twine REALLY sends me: EXCELLENT job!
ReplyDeleteI am with Elise---not fair, they're both beautiful! I am drawn to the first one because I like the vintage look to it, but the pattern pieces on the second, as well as the sentiment---just fabulous! I haven't seen anyone use those images from the mini yet, either. And of course, you're using two of my fav challenges---CQC and PP!!! Winners both! Thanks for playing!~
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fabulous cards, Rosemary! The button, twine and pattern pieces are the perfect touches on your second card! The image on the first card is gorgeous! LOVE them both! Thanks for playing with The Paper Players this week!
ReplyDeleteThat's a neat idea! I love that you paper pieced the pattern stamp! So clever! Thanks for joining us at the Paper Players!
ReplyDeleteI simply can NOT pick. They are both beautiful and have such awesome elements. I love the distressing on the first and the clean lines on the second...but the baker's twine sucks me in, every time! LOL! That, and I am always in awe of perfect paper snipping...because I am SO horrible at it! :) Thanks for playing along with us at The Paper Players this week! :)
ReplyDeleteRosemary, The first card is gorgeous and the second card is so clever! I love both, Thanks for playing the colourQ with us again this week.
