thanks... you're a peach

Hey friends!!  Hope you are having a nice weekend.  Ours is wet and cold... a typical winter in the Pacific Northwest!  Popping in with a card one of the PTI anniversary challenges... the only one I managed to get done.   The PTI challenge I'm posting this to is the first one from the anniversary celebration, design team favorite color combos.  I went with Kay  Miller's favorite color combo.  The layout for my card is based on the current one from Freshly Made Sketches.  Originally I was going to use some floral stamps, but as I started going through them I came upon the PTI Still Life Summer mini Make it Market kit and since it had never been used I thought this was the perfect time.  I die cut two peaches and then did the multi-step stamping.  Since Kay has only one shade of green in the combo I got some color change by inking up the solid leaf image in Simply Chartreuse, stamping it off and then stamping it on the die cut.  The second part of the leaf was stamped with Simply Chartreuse at full strength and then the final portion was stamped using brown ink.  Love how it turned out.  The peaches were stamped using Hero Arts Orange Soda and Butter Bar inks and then over stamped with some SU! Melon Mambo.  The outline was stamped using Memento Rich Cocoa.  The cute little thanks was die cut from Sweet Blush cardstock four times and adhered them together.  After layering everything up on my die cut circles I thought I would try something other than the strips of cardstock behind the circular image, but nothing looked right... sometimes it is just best to go with what is given in the sketch!  Honestly, though, I'm really like how the card turned out.

blue feathers...

Hey friends!!   Have another card to share for one of PTI's 8th anniversary celebration challenges.  This card is for the day 8 blue ombre challenge.   The layout is loosely based on the current sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch so I will be posting it to that challenge, as well.

I took the path of least resistance and kept my ombre look very simple.  I stamped the middle sized feather from Feather Finery using three different shades of blue ink (SU!'s Marina Mist, Baja Breeze and Soft Sky).   To jazz things up a big I added a few clear sequins.

more pti anniversary fun...

Hey friends!!  Back with a couple more cards for PTI's 8th anniversary celebrations.  Today's cards are for the day 2 challenge (inspired by Maile Belles) and the day 5 challenge (spring into action).  Up first is my card for the day 1 challenge:

I didn't have to look for long on Maile's blog to find a card to inspire me!  I chose a card from her day three post.   I like the way she split the panel on her design.  I pretty much copied her design except I used a flower instead of a butterfly.  I used Happiness in Bloom and the color combo from Color Throwdown so I will be posting my card to that challenge, as well.   I stamped the main flower using red and purple inks and then covered it with a mask and stamped the leaves with aqua and green inks.  The sentiment was stamped in black.  After cutting the panel I adhered it to a light grey cardstock base.

The challenge for day 5 was to use a stamp set that hadn't been used before or not used in along time.  I used the YOF Gladiolus set... one I have never actually inked up!  I stamped the main image in white on kraft cardstock and then colored it with Prisma pencils.  I cut the panel down on one side and then added a strip of Plum Pudding Bitty Box Basics patterned paper.   I was reluctant to stamp the sentiment at the bottom so I stamped it at the top... not sure I really like it.

PTI 8th Anniversary....

Hey friends!!  PTI is celebrating its 8th anniversary!  And in keeping with past celebrations they have lots of fun contests going on.  Today I have a card for their day one DT Inspiration challenge.  We were given eight color combos and eight sketches.   The challenge is to pick one color combo and one sketch for your project.  I had a hard time picking just one of each, but finally settled on one of each, got to work and came up with this:

Initially I was going to use patterned paper (as was suggested in the design tips), but didn't like how it looked so opted to stamp the block portion of the sketch.  I then die cut my flower pieces using the Friendly Flowers and Friendly Flower dies.  The word is from the Pretty Peonies stamp and die set.  All the inks are from Stampin Up! and match the PTI colors fairly closely.  I layered everything up and then added the "birthday" sentiment (from Pretty Peonies) in black ink.   Since I used nice bright colors for my card I'm also adding this to the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge:  Bright and Beautiful.

thanks so much...

Hello friends... the party continues at PTI and I have had a chance to make something for today's challenge to use stripes on your card.  I also used one of the sketches and color combos from the first challenge and so will be popping the card into that line up, as well.

It was pretty much a given that I would use my PTI Distressed Stripes set for this challenge.  I have had the set for ages and never really used it.  I have tried, but had never been able to come up with anything I like.  But I do like how this turned out.  I added some Studio Calico wood stars and kraft colored hemp twine to complete the look.  It is clean and simple, but a bit rustic, too.  I must say that while this month's PTI release is a bit overwhelming I am loving pretty much everything they have been showing sneak peeks of.   So wishing I had lots of disposable income that I could spend on everything!!  I used the following color combo and sketch:

happy birthday pti!

Hello friends!!  First I wanted to say thank you to everyone who left me such lovely comments on my earlier post about my friend.  I cannot tell just how much I appreciate your kindness!  Unfortunately life comes with sad events, but it also hold happy ones, too... like birthdays!  And as a lot of you know, PTI is celebrating it's 7th birthday (or anniversary) this month.  Lots of fun challenges going on.  My card actually works for two of them:  today's birthday card challenge, as well as the sketch/color combo challenge.

For the sketch I used the one with the diagional strips and the color combo of Hawaiian Shore, Summer Sunrise, Scarlett Jewel and Raspberry Fizz.  I hunted through all my washi tape and found three rolls that were a good match for Hawaiian Shores, Summer Sunrise & Scarlett Jewel.  I adhered the strips of washi tape and then added the sentiment (from Boutique Borders - Birthday) on a fishtail banner.  A PTI Raspberry Fizz button completed the card.
