PTI November Blog Hop...

Hey friends!  Hope everyone in the US had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Mine was awesome!  My great nephew Max was born on Thanksgiving day and I got to meet him that afternoon!  He is ADORABLE!!   Anyway... a quick post of a card for this month's PTI blog hop.  It is a fun inspiration photo featuring candy canes and lollipops.  I don't have anything remotely like that in my PTI stash so I focused on the red, white and light blue colors from the photo.  There is absolutely no stamping on this card... all die cutting!  I used the Bold Borders Yuletide die for the card.  I simply die cut the main die from red and white cardstock and adhered them together.  The Be Merry was die cut from Spring Rain cardstock three times and adhered together.  I adhered the frame to my cardstock base with glue, popped up the red panel with foam tape and then adhered the sentiment.  Super simple, but I like it!  Think I will also add this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge.

October PTI Blog Hop

Hey there!!  Today is the 25th and that means it is time for PTI's monthly blog hop.  I didn't think I was going to get something made for the blog hop as I have been working on other things, but this morning after I dropped my kiddo off at school I remembered that about a year ago I got a bee in my bonnet and decided to die cut all the pieces in the Make It Market Color Pop: Autumn mini kit.  Once I had everything die cut (and that took awhile, lol!) I decided to create some card fronts with them.  I'm glad that I remembered I had those ready made card fronts because once I found then I was able to put
together my card very quickly by simply pulling out one that had colors similar to those in the inspiration photo, added my sentiment (from the Bigger Blooms stamp set) and adhere the piece to a Weathervane cardstock.   I didn't focus on the obvious colors of the pumpkins, but decided to pull out colors that aren't so obvious like the red berries and the greens, blues and greys in the photo.  So now I have another birthday card that will work perfectly for a guy.  Yay for quick and easy cardmaking!

september pti blog hop...

Hey there!  Feels like ages since I last posted, but it has only been a week, lol!  It is the 25th of September and that means it is time for PTI's monthly blog hop.  With fall now here the inspiration for this month's hop is a beautifully appointed fall table.  I decided to draw my inspiration from all the beautiful fall colors.  I have had PTI's Text and Texture: Roses for a long time and sadly had not used it so I decided to get it out to use to make my card.   I cut a piece of Harvest Gold and then stamped the roses images using a mustard yellow ink and a pumpkin orange ink.  I then die cut the image with a rectangle die.  Using the smallest die in the PTI Double Ups die set I die cut a piece of Harvest Gold and stamped the words Harvest and Blessings from the Color Pop: Autumn set in VersaFine CLAIR Acorn ink.  The word Bountiful (from the Color Pop: Autumn die set) was die cut from Ripe Avocado paper three times and adhered together.   Additional Ripe Avocado was die cut with a larger rectangle die as a mat for the stamped piece.  I layered up everything and then added a few sequins in rust and yellow to finish up the card.   With the addition of the sequins I'm going to add this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge and I will be adding this to the Time Out challenge as the colors I used for my card are similar to those found in their inspiration photo.

PTI June blog hop...

Hey there!  Popping in with a super simple card that I made for this month's PTI blog hop.  I'm also going to add it to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge because I do think it is rather bright and cheerful.   This month's inspiration photo is just so yummy with all those beautiful popsicles.  I don't have anything remotely like that in my PTI collection, but I do have lots of lovely floral sets and so I decided to use my newest one... Corner Adorner February.  I pulled colors from the photo to use in creating my little corner piece.  I stamped the majority of the images onto white cardstock, but the central flower was stamped and die cut.  I wanted to use two shades of green for the leaf and stem portions of the corner piece so I had to do some masking and stamping.  It was a little tricky, but I got it done.  After getting all the stamping done I adhered the little flower and then added my panel to a cardstock base made from PTI's Weathervane cardstock as I thought it was similar in color to the tray that all the popsicles and fruit were arranged on.

April PTI Blog Hop

Hey there!  (If you want to see my AJVD post, please click here.)  Today is the 25th of the month and that means it is time for the PTI blog hop.  The photo boasts a stack of delicate tea cups and the first thing I thought of when I saw it was Pride and Prejudice which then led me to think of PTI's Simply Jane stamp set.  I combined that set with the Sweet Life stamp set to create my card.   I pulled colors from the tea cups (aqua, pink, dark pink, yellow, green) and stamped various die cuts from Simply Jane and Sweet Life using those colors.  I spotted some gold on the rims of the tea cups and so I stamped the frame from Simply Jane using Delicata Golden Glitz ink.   Once I had all my pieces completed it was time to arrange everything on a panel of white cardstock that I had die cut with an AJVD rectangle die and stamped with the sentiment from Simply Jane using VersaFine CLAIR ink in Morning Mist.  After everything was adhered I added some Pretty Pink Posh jewels in Buttercream and Aquamarine for a bit of sparkle.   Adding this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of anything goes.

March PTI Blog Hop

Happy Palm Sunday everyone!! Can't believe that Easter is next Sunday!  I'm trying to make a few more Easter cards for family and friends and the March PTI blog hop gave me that opportunity.   When I saw the lovely basket of tulips in the photo I thought of the lovely PTI Tulip Time stamp set.  That was my starting point.  After I got home from church on Saturday (last) night I die cut and stamped the little tulip bouquet.  I went through my small collection of Inspired stamp and die sets and settled on Inspired Savior.  As I was getting out the die I noticed my Clock Face die and decided that I wanted to work that in somehow.  I went to bed and this morning finished up my card.  To pull in the feel of the basket I die cut the Clock Face die from kraft cardstock and popped out all the pieces.  I then embossed the Clock Face die into a piece of rustic white cardstock and adhered the clock face using spray adhesive.  The piece was then trimmed down to fit an A2 card base.  The tulips were stamped using two shades of pink.  To get the depth on the final detail image for the tulips I simply kept inking up the image with the same shade until I had it as dark as I wanted it.  Two shades of green were used for the stems.  Savior was die cut four times, once from Lemon Tart cardstock, once from kraft cardstock and twice from thin white cardstock.  All where adhered together using spray adhesive.  Final step was to stamp the words our and lives! in kraft ink.  Then I layered everything and adhered it to a Lemon Tart base.  Going to add this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of floral frenzy as well.

January PTI Blog Hop...

Hey there!!!  Stopping in with a card for this month's PTI blog hop.  I have one really old birthday related stamp set from PTI and nothing with balloons or cakes so I decided to just focus on some of the colors and the flowers in the inspiration photo for my card.  The layout is from Freshly Made Sketches so I will be posting it there, as well as the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of layering.  I wasn't even sure that I would get something done for the hop as I forgot about it until yesterday afternoon.  So, this morning I quickly (as you can see from my less than perfect stamping, lol) put something together.  I used PTI's Bigger Blooms stamps and dies along with an embossing folder that I have not used in ages.   Die cut all the flowers and leaves and then stamped them using two shades of pink ink (dark and light) and a light green for the leaves.  Stamped the sentiment and die cut it with a MFT banner die and then matted it with a second banner die cut from pink cardstock.  Layered everything up on my card base and I was done!  YAY!! Another birthday card for my stash!!

PTI and Altenew...

Hey there!!  Popping in to share two cards I made on Christmas day.  I had the time to make cards on Christmas day because for the first time since 2008 we got snow on Christmas day.  My in-laws live north of us and usually get more snow then we do so I decided that we would stay home instead of making the trip to their place.  We will get together with them later this week.  First up is a card for the PTI December blog hop.  For my card I tried to pull out colors that I was in this gorgeous heart wreath.  I used the Floral Sketches stamps and dies (first time I have ever used them I think!) and several different inks (PTI Lavender Moon, Plum Pudding, MFT Bubblegum, Memento Angel Pink, SU! Pear Pizzazz, Memento New Sprout) to create my flowers and leaves and kept things very muted.  I stamped the floral sprays in the lavender inks and the large flower with the pinks.  Once I had most of the images stamped I die cut my panel with the Herringbone Mix & Mat die and then cut a layering mat from a bright green cardstock using the largest die from the Double Ups die collection.  That  was adhered to a white panel die cut with a rectangle die from AJVD and then the stamped panel was adhered on top with foam dimensionals.  I adhered a leaf I had stamped along with the large flower and then added my sentiment that I had embossed in white on PTI vellum.  Finished things off with some Pretty Pink Posh sparkling clear sequins.

The second card is for the Altenew monthly inspiration challenge.  The challenge for December is to use one of the previous inspirations from 2017.  When I first started looking at the Altenew inspiration challenge the first one I saw was from August.  The inspiration photo was of a card created by Erum Tasneem one of the Altenew design team members.  I was pretty awe-struck by that card and really wanted to play along, but at that point I didn't have many Altenew stamps, it was summer and so I never made anything.  Thank goodness the December challenge gave me the opportunity to use the color combo!!  My colors are a bit more muted and instead of teal I used blue (I was looking more at the colors in the flowers), but overall I love how everything turned out.  To bring in the gold I embossed the flower, leaves and stem in gold embossing powder and then colored them with Daniel Smith watercolors using the palette I got from Simon Says Stamp.   The leave were done with a combination of two browns from the palettes and a little bit of gold.  The flowers were colored with two shades of blue along with a touch of turquoise.  I watercolored the background with a mixture of the blues and then added in some gold.  I used my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors in dark brown and gold to add splatters to the watercolor panel as well as to the flowers and leaves.   I placed everything where I wanted it so I could determine where to stamp my sentiment.  Added that and then adhered everything in place.  The stamp set I used is Beautiful Day along with the matching dies.

PTI November blog hop...

Hey there!!  Stopping in with a quick card for this month's PTI blog hop.  We were provided with a beautiful inspiration photo that got me thinking about my Make it Market Mini kit Color Pop: Autumn.   The base of this card actually got started back in the late spring/early summer when I was doing a little bit of organizing of my PTI products.  I decided to die cut all the pieces from the different Color Pop kits that I have and then took it further when I decided to use some of those pieces along with the pre-designed sheets and create some cards.  This card isn't all die cuts, though.  I did do a little bit of stenciling and stamping on the small leaves.  All I had to do was pick out a finished card front that I thought corresponded the best with the inspiration photo and then add my sentiment.   I chose the beautiful word dies from the Especially for You stamp and die set and cut them from gold glitter cardstock.   Adhered them to the card front and then added it to a kraft cardstock base and I was done!  I will also add this to the current Time Out challenge to be inspired by words.

PTI June Blog Hop...

Hello!!  June 25th has rolled around and that means time for the PTI blog hop!!  And we have another beautiful photo to inspire us.   I decided to go with the ombre' look of the jars and also use the colors found in the flowers.  The photo just said "summer" to me and since I have never used my PTI Friendship Jar Summer stamp set (sad... I know!) I got it out to make my card.  I stamped the jar on watercolor paper and then colored the water with a blue ZIG marker.  Once that was done I added the stems using Gathered Twigs and Mowed Lawn distress inks.  The hydrangea was stamped on watercolor paper with watermark ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  I then very carefully watercolored the image with pink and green ZIGs.  Once it was dry I die cut it with the matching die.  The jar was grounded by using a brown ZIG marker and blending out the color.  I then die cut the panel with the large die from the Mix and Mat Herringbone die set.  I decided to add the little photo corners using kraft cardstock.  The hydrangea was adhered, the sentiment (from Cutting Garden) was stamped and then the piece was adhered to a light gray cardstock base.   I will also add this to the current Time Out challenge of celebrations.

Happy PTI blog hop day everyone!!  Nichole gave us a lovely inspiration photo and when I saw it I immediately thought of my Make It Market Mini Kit Color Pop: Floral.  I love the stencils that come with the Color Pop kits.  They are large, sturdy and cover your entire piece of cardstock!  I pulled out my distress inks and used Spun Sugar for the large flowers, Scattered Straw for the leaves and Carved Pumpkin for the small flowers.  After apply each of the layers with my ink blender I added the stems in the leaves using Weathered Wood, the centers of the pink flowers with Wild Honey and the centers of the little flowers with Carved Pumpkin.  I die cut the piece with the largest die in the Double Ups Rectangles set.  The sentiment was die cut from woodgrain cardstock and adhered to the panel.  I die cut a piece of lighter gray cardstock as a mat and layered the two on a white cardstock base.  Must admit that I wasn't super happy with the card when I first finished it, but it is starting to grow on me, lol!
