CMCC #18... thanks a latte

Hello, hello!!  Wednesday is here and that means time for a brand new Colour Me...! challenge and since April has 5 Wednesdays that also means that it is your chance to use up to five colors of YOUR choice!!  How fun is that???   Unfortunately, the end of the month also means that this is the last Wednesday for our sweet and super talented guest designer, Anita.  She has done an amazing job this month and I, for one, have enjoyed having her design with us!  All the details regarding the challenge can be found on the Colour Me...! blog. 

 

I decided to go with only three colors and used the Viva la Verve week #3 layout, as well as the VLV inspiration photo.  I pulled my three colors from that photo: navy, turquoise and bright green.  All the stamps are from Verve (Holiday Treats).  The dies are from Verve (Tagged Rectangle die & Cup of Cheer dies; Reverse Confetti and PTI).  I embossed the background using the PTI chevron cover plate.  The tag was die cut and stamped with the image from Holiday Treats.  Some twine in turquoise and green was adhered to the white cardstock piece before the tag was added.  The banner was die cut, stamped with the sentiment and layered on the tag.  Finished with the little die cut coffee cups that I stamped in turquoise and green.  I'm also going to pop this into this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge:  Anything Goes.

be YOU tiful...

Hello, hello!! Beautiful day here in the PacNW!  The sun is shining and the birds are singing... makes me smile!   Can't believe I have posted every single day this week... I really try to not do that, but sometimes it happens!  And the fun just continues because... yep... I have a card to post!

This one started out as a card for just two different challenges:  Sketchbook Saturday and Reverse Confetti color challenge.   But when I saw my sweet (and super talented) bloggy friend Anita's post for Addicted to CAS (she is guest designing... YAY Anita!) I just had to add my card to that challenge, as well.  I also had to laugh when I read Anita's post because I share her desire to have things be well... neat and grunge (the ATCAS challenge) just isn't neat!  But I have been giving it a try... first with stamps and now actually trying splattering on my projects.  The randomness and messiness of splattering kinda unnerves me, but I'm starting to enjoy it more.   I used SU! reinkers in the following colors:  Certain Celery, Wisteria Wonder & Marina Mist.  I mixed each one with water and splattered away.  I would like to say it was liberating, but seriously... it wasn't, lol!   The arrows were die cut using my Reverse Confetti arrow die and then adhered.  I stamped the sentiment and image from the RC set Peacock Pretties, punches them out and adhered to the arrows.  Some pale lavendar baker's twine was tied to one arrow and the piece was adhered to the card base.

PTI April Blog Hop... stitched hello

Hello, hello!!  Wow... it is April 25th and that means time for the PTI monthly blog hop.  This month the challenge is to take inspiration from embroidery.  To be honest when I first started reading Nichole's write up I wasn't exactly sure where she was going with the challenge and thought we would have to put together projects with embroidery on it.  Thankfully as I read along further I saw she wanted us to be inspired by embroidery.  Because I'm not on Pinterest and kinda lazy I took my inspiration from one of the photos in the graphic that Nichole provided.

As I thought about what I would do I thought I would use the Fancy Folkart set, but as I started to work on my card (on Thursday afternoon) I decided to go with Rosie Posie because the flowers from that set more closely resembled the flowers in the photo.  I stayed with the bold colors, as well:  deep red, green and yellow.  I stamped the border image using the red, green and yellow.  I then used the "hello" from the Quick Stitch Sentiments die set and die cut the word.  I went through my extensive collection of embroidery floss and found a yellow that was a good match for the yellow ink and added the stitching.   Die cut and stamped the flowers and leaves and then layered everything up.  Finished by adding the word "friend" from the Wet Paint set.  Mounted the piece on a bright green cardstock base.

Hello, hello!!   Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!  We have had lots of rain, but that means lots of time to make cards, ha!   The last few days I have been showing you cards made with the new stamps and dies from Clearly Whimsy Stamps (there is still time to comment to win one of three prizes!).  Today I have a card for a couple of challenges (Unscripted Sketches and ColourQ) that uses one of the new CWS stamp sets (Travel 2).  ETA:  popping this into this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: clean and simple.

This card is super clean and super simple, although it did take me awhile to make it, lol!  I started by stamping each of the signs in the road sign image using yellow, green and purple inks.  The entire image was stamped on kraft cardstock, everything was trimmed out and layered up using various heights of foam dimensionals.  I cut a strip of white cardstock and then did some second generation stamping using the same yellow, green and purple inks and the earth image from the set.  I adhered the strip and the sign to a kraft card base and then added the black baker's twine.  I wasn't sure I was going to like the second generation stamping, but I think it turned out pretty well.

Hello, hello!!  Happy Wednesday... we have a fun new color challenge up at Colour Me..! that I know you are going to love!!   All the details can be found on the Colour Me...! blog.

 

 

Back in February during the PTI anniversary celebration I made a card for one of their many contests using a sketch and color combo that PTI provided.  I really loved how the card turned out (sadly it wasn't one of the winning projects, though!) and wanted to recreate it using a different color combo.  Today's card is the end result.  I used the same image from the PTI set Distressed Stripes, stamping the stripes from lightest to darkest color to create an ombre effect.  I changed things up a bit from the original (found here) by not distressing the edges, changing the twine from kraft colored to white, leaving off the wood veneer stars and adding the die cut word (a little gift from my sweet friend, Lisa).  The sentiment is from the PTI mini set Wonderful Words:  Teacher.

Whimsy Stamps April Release Finale!!

Hello, hello!!  Aren't the new Whimsy Stamps we have been previewing amazing?? Today is the final preview and all the stamps are now available for purchase in the Whimsy Stamps store.  Today the design team and our April guest designer, Pop's, are sharing projects made with the Travel stamps and coordinating dies, as well as Family Words stamps and the coordinating "wonderful" word die. (You can see all the stamps and dies I used at the end of my post.)  Make sure that you stop at each and every blog because today there is a chance to win the Family Words stamp sets, as well as the "wonderful" word die!!  You should have gotten here from Heather's blog.  If not, head to the Whimsy Stamp blog to start at the beginning and for a full list of participants.

First up is the card I made using images from the Travel 2 stamp set and the matching camera die.  How cute is that little camera???  I absolutely LOVE IT and can't wait to make some more projects with it!  I die cut the little camera from white cardstock and stamped the main body using aqua ink.  I die cut the lense with the little matching die and stamped it with black ink then popped it up on the camera.  A little nest of orange twine was adhered to my square and then the camera adhered on top of that.  The piece was matted with light brown cardstock.  Some washi tape was adhered to the card and the splatters added using yellow ink mixed with water and then the sentiment was stamped.  The entire piece was then mounted on the card base.

My second card was made using the Family Words stamps and the "wonderful" die.  I cut a piece of cardstock to the size I wanted and then die cut the word "wonderful" three times.  I then die cut the word from three different colors of pink cardstock and inlaid them into the white cardstock piece and then stamped the sentiment as shown.  A piece of medium pink polka dot paper was cut, the two pieces were adhered to the card front, some black baker's twine was tied on and a wood veneer heart that I dyed pink was adhered.

Clearly Whimsy Stamps April Release - day 2

Hello, hello!!  Did you enjoy yesterday's peeks of the some of the new Whimsy Stamps that will be released on Wednesday?  I hope so because the design team and our April guest designer, Pop's, have more sneeks to share with you!!  Today we are showcasing Happy Travels stamps and coordinating dies, as well as In the Garden stamps and coordinating dies.  You should have gotten here from Simmone's blog.  Once, again, we are giving away a $15.00 gift certificate so make sure you stop at all the blogs on the hop.  Commenting is open until noon (EST) on Sunday, April 27th.

Today I'm giving you a peek of the simply gorgeous In the Garden stamps and dies.  My card uses stamps from the In the Garden 4x6 set, as well as the In the Garden Additions set and the sweet little picket fence die.  I started by stamping the grass from In the Garden across the bottom of my card using bright green ink.  I then added the flower stems and leaves.  The cluster of sunflowers was created by stamping and masking.  The little bee was stamped and colored with a yellow marker and then silver Wink of Stella ink was added to the wings.  The picket fence was die cut from kraft cardstock twice and then adhered to the card with foam dimensionals and the sentiment added.  A strip of patterned paper (October Afternoon Witch Hazel line) was adhered on one side and then the stamped panel.  Finished things off with a bit of dark brown twine.

My card uses the super adorable new Coffee Break set and coordinating Coffee Break dies.  I absolutely love that cute little "to go" coffee cup!  As you can see this set is loaded with tons of fun images and super clever sentiments. I kept things very clean and simple with this card.  I embossed a rectangle on to my cardstock and then stamped the little steam image using yellow ink. The coffee cup was die cut from patterned paper (Webster's Pages Family Traditions line) and rustic white cardstock.  The center portion of the white die cut was stamped with the sentiment (how fun is that sentiment???) and then adhered to the card.  The lid was adhered with foam dimensional.  Before adhering the cup inside the emboss rectangle I tied on some yellow baker's twine.  The piece was matted with additional patterned paper and adhered to the card base.

a note of thanks...

Hello, hello from wet, wet, wet Western Washington!!  Sometimes the rain gets me down, but in the spring time I do love the fact that all the rain makes everything so beautifully green!   And I really shouldn't complain because we have never experienced the type of weather that so much of the country experienced (and in some places continue to experience) this past winter!   Anywhoo... I do have a card to share.  This one is for CASology (note) and Seize the Sketch.  Don't think I have ever participated in a Seize the Sketch challenge so thought I would give them a try.

With a cue word like "note" there are many possiblities and it made me think of my seldom used PTI set "Happy Trails".  So I pulled that one out and made a more masculine type card.  I die cut the pencil and stamped the image in brown ink.  A mini paper bag was stamped with the sentiment.  I then die cut a piece of actual paper with the PTI notebook die, stamped it with a second sentiment and slipped it inside.   A scrap of patterned paper from the October Afternoon Witch Hazel line was adhered to the cardstock piece along with a strip of mustard yellow cardstock and the mini bag and pencil.  Slapped it on the kraft card base and I was done!

CMCC #16...wishing you

Hello, hello!!  Happy Wednesday everyone... are you ready for a new Colour Me...! color combo??  I hope so!! Trememdously fabulous entries for last week's fun, bright color combo.  This week the combo is the soft and subtle combo of pale green, pale pink and medium pink.  Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with using these pretty colors!  All the details can be found at the Colour Me...! blog.

 

For my card I used some fun My Mind's Eye papers in a soft green along with the new Verve stamp set Better Together, as well as the Verve set So Fluttery. The banners were cut using the dies from the Verve die set "Tag It" and the butterfly using the matching Verve butterfly die.   The layout is based on the Viva La Verve week 2 sketch.  I'm also going to pop this into the current Time Out challenge:  Birthdays.  Obviously I didn't go with the "twist" as this is a pretty feminine card, lol!!   I think the sweet little butterfly looks rather pretty with the more grungy dotty image from the Better Together set.  Also popping this into the current Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge:  Winged Things

sweet on you...

Hello, hello!!  It is a gorgeous day here in the Pacific Northwest!!  That means beautiful views of both the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges!  Abosolutely love it!!   Even though I spent the majority of the day outside at our local zoo (Pt. Defiance) with the boys I managed to find a bit of time to make a card for a couple of challenges (ColourQ and Unscripted Sketches).

 

Since I didn't want to spend a ton of time making a card today I went super clean and simple, but I added a bit of interest by partially embossing the card base.  The stamps and the are from Clearly Whimsy Stamps (the Sweet as Candy line).  A piece of white cardstock was cut, one corner rounded and stamped with the candy image using SU!'s Pool Party ink.  A second candy was stamped using Hero Art's Splash ink, trimmed out and popped up over the first candy.  The word "sweet" was die cut from peachy paper from the Webster's Pages Family Traditions line and popped up on the cardstock piece.  The remainder of the sentiment was stamped in black ink and then a few tangerine colored enamel dots were added to finish things off.

Hello, hello!!  Looks like we are going to have a bit less rain and a bit more shine here in the pacific northwest this weekend... YAY!  Quick post with a card I made for a few challenges:  CASology (wet... do admit this isn't super CAS), Sketchbook Saturday, Verve (chevron chic) and Virginia's View #2 (stenciling).

 

Tried to get out of my comfort zone, again... not sure how well it went, but I'm trying people...I'm trying, lol!!   I colored some fibre paste with some SU! Coastal Cabana ink and then using a homemade stencil (created with PTI's chevron cover plate) applied it to my white cardstock piece.  Once it was dry I mixed a little bit more Coastal Cabana ink with water and splattered it (yep... I tried splattering!) on the cardstock.  The sentiment and image are from the Verve set Rain or Shine.   The squares were die cut using Spellbinders plain square dies.  So there it is... my funny little card!

Precious Remembrance Shop April Release Blog Hop!!

Hello friends!!!  Today is an exciting day... Precious Remembrance Shop has a brand new set releasing today and the design team along with special guest designers are having a hop to celebrate!  Woot!!!   And to make things even better there is a giveway!  YAY!!   I will have all the details on how to win this new set and a complete list off all the stops on the hop at the end of my post.   If you got here from the blog of the super talented Lisa, then you are on the right track!   Now... on to my card!

 

I love the "painterly" look to this new set and the wonderful sentiments.  When I saw the sentiment I used on my card today I knew I wanted to have lots of sparkly and shine on my hop card.  I started by stamping the dots from the set using watermark ink.  I applied sparkly clear embossing powder and heat set.  Clear sequins were then added to each dot.  The feather was die cut from silver foil cardstock and adhered.  I die cut the banner and stamped it with the sentiment, added the heart and adhered it to the card.  Super simple, but full of sparkly and shine!  I have included a close up of the dots so you can see how sparkly they are.  Your next stop on the hop is the very talented Kim.  I know she is going to knock your socks off with her fabulous project!

Hello friends!!  Its Wednesday and that means a brand new color combo is up at Colour Me!  There were so many fabulous cards in the gallery last week!   This week we have the fun color combo of Daffodil Delight (bright yellow) and Bermuda Bay (teal).   Can't wait to see what everyone creates with this super fun combo.  All the details can be found on the Colour Me...! blog.  Please remember that you don't have to use Stampin Up! colors for your projects. 

 

For my card today I used Reverse Confetti set Forever Fall and the current Reverse Confetti Sketch for You to Try layout.    I stamped the rectangular woodgrain image using Memento's Dandelion ink on my white cardstock piece.  The same image was stamped on a strip of white cardstock using Hero Arts Splash chalk ink and layered on top.  I die cut the tag using the RC "Tag Me" me die.  To make it fit better on the layout I trimmed off the outer portion of the tag.  The sentiment was stamped using Splash ink and then adhered to the layout.  I stamped the heart using Dandelion ink, trimmed it out and adhered it to the tag.  Some teal colored baker's twine was looped through the tag opening and some teal and yellow sequins were added to finish things off.

love the here & now...

Hello friends!!  Popping in with a card for the current MFT Wednesday sketch challenge, as well as Virginia's View challenge #2 - stencils.

 

I will be honest and tell you that I'm not real big on stencils.  I own one and don't plan to buy any more.  I have dies that I can use to make my own stencils and given that this isn't a technique that I will be using alot using my dies to make my own works perfectly for me!  I'm also not big on spray mists for several reasons that I won't bore you with!  However, I did buy four Perfect Pearl Mists (for reasons I don't even remember, lol!) a few years ago and thankfully I was able to use one of them for my card.  I created my stencil by cutting a piece of thin chipboard using my MFT Fluttering Hearts die.  I layed it on my white cardstock and sprayed away using Perfect Pearls Heirloom Gold mist.  After removing the stencil I realized that you can't really tell that those are hearts, but I forged ahead anyway.  I cut the piece down to the size I wanted and then stamped it with my sentiment (from the MFT set Chalkboard Greetings) using black ink.  I matted the piece with PTI Smoky Shadow cardstock.  Some pink polka dotted paper from Echo Park was cut to fit my card base, the edges distressed a bit and then adhered to the card base.  The stenciled piece was layered on top and then I added the wood veneer arrows that I colored using SU!'s Melon Mambo ink and then daubed them with a Ranger Gold paint dauber.  Not a bad effort... but I think I may try making something using my fibre paste.

I recently purchased this pack of Studio Calico wood veneers that have the cute little feathers so I pulled out two and died them using Stampin Up!'s Primrose Petals and Pretty in Pink Inks.  In keeping with the color combo I used some My Mind's Eye Tangerine patterened paper.  The sentimetn is from the PTI mini set Flower Fusion #8.  Added a bit of tangerine colored baker's twine to the top of the feathers.  The punch is from EK Success.  A few clear sequins (love them!!) from Pretty Pink Posh finished things off.

Hello friends!!  Spring break is coming to an end for my boys... the weather was iffy (generally is this time of year in Western Washington!), but they enjoyed their time off.  Last night I made this little card for a couple of challenges:  ColourQ and CAS(E) this Sketch.

 

For my card I used the recently released Sweet as Candy Sweet Images and Sweet Sentiments sets from Whimsy Stamps.  The wrapped candies were stamped in Calypso Coral, Primrose Petals and Coastal Cabana then trimmed out and layered on the card front.  The banner was stamped using River Rock, trimmed out and then stamped with the sentiment.  The final portion of the sentiment was stamped using River Rock.  Added some sequins and I was done.  The card base is River Rock.
