Here Comes The Sun.... And the Very First CASology Challenge!!

{For my Shining the Light post please scroll down or click here}

Hello, again!!!  I'm back with my card for the very first CASology challenge!!  YAY!!!  I can't tell you how excited I was when Melissa asked me to be a part of the first design team for CASology.   So here we go with the very first challenge!!   This is how it will work:

1. Every Tuesday, a cue card will be posted containing a single word.
2. Take that word and run with it! Interpret it however you'd like! Just be sure and keep things clean and simple!
3. Deadline is Sunday at noon (CST) to link up your project on the challenge blog. Be sure to provide a link to the CASology blog within your blog post!
4. Feel free to combine this challenge with other challenges.

A Winner and 4 Honorable Mentions will be announced Monday!

For my card I decided to keep things really, really clean and really, really simple.  When I saw the cue card for the first challenge I immediately thought of my Hero Arts Bold Pop Design set because the largest flower in the set could double very nicely as a sun.   I stamped the flower using Memento Dandelion ink and then die cut it using the die that matches the stamp.  A regular A2 size card base was made from white cardstock and then a quarter of an inch of cut off one end.  This allowed me to position the sun as I did, but still giving me an A2 size card.  I cut a piece of white cardstock to fit the card front and then punched out a semi-circle with a 1 3/4" circle punch.  The piece was then embossed using a Spellbinders Impressabilities template to give me the subtle embossed look I wanted (it is so subtle it doesn't hard show in my main photo so I took a detail photo so you could see it).  The sentiment (from a Taylored Expressions set Delightful Day) was stamped on white cardstock and then punched out using a 1 1/4" punch.  The embossed piece was adhered 1/16" foam dimensionals and then the sun was adhered using a 1/8" foam dimensional.

Thanks for stopping by... please check out amazing projects that the rest of the design team has for you:  Melissa, Tracey, Jen and Ardyth and I look forward to seeing your CAS creations!!

I love that embossing on the white panel! And placing your focal point up top - perfect. After all, that's where the sun shines -- from above. : )
