cards for sketches...

Hey there!  Hope you had a great weekend!  I managed to make a couple of cards.  First up is a card that I made using this week's MFT sketch.  I used the super cute MFT stamp set called Hello Little One.  My niece is having a little boy in November and so I actually made the card for her baby shower.  Happy to say that she loved it!  I stamped the images in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored them with Copic markers.  I then added depth to each image with Prismacolor pencils.  Once that was done I die cut everything with the matching dies.  Some MFT Smooth White cardstock was cut per the sketch and then I partially embossed it with a star embossing folder.  The die cuts were adhered to the panel.  I die cut the banner and then stamped it with the sentiment.   Adhered the banner and then adhered the panel to a light gray cardstock base.   I'm also going to add this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of anything goes.

The second card is for the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  I made this one for my great niece, Kaia.  I recently bought a pack of Lawn Fawn glitter cardstock and used it to make this all die cut card.   In August I joined the Spellbinders Small Die Kit club and the kit for September is all about Halloween.  The cute little ghost is one of the dies.  I die cut it three times from some white glitter cardstock from Stampin Up!  The purple and black glitter cardstock is from Lawn Fawn.  I die cut all the ghosts and then adhered them to the strips of purple glitter cardstock.  A strip of black glitter cardstock was adhered to the white cardstock base and then I adhered the ghost panels.  The sentiment was die cut from the black glitter cardstock and plain black cardstock two more times.  All three were adhered together and then the words adhered to the card base.   Super sparkly for sure!  I hope little Kaia likes it!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

National Coffee Day Blog Hop!

Hey everyone!!  As many of you know today is National Coffee Day and the gals over at the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog are having another big blog hop to celebrate.  Precious Remembrance Shop is a super sponsor and so is A Jillian Vance design.  There are great prizes from both companies!   Please head over to the PRS blog and the AJVD blog for all the details on how to win each prize.  I made two cards to share.  First up is a PRS card I made using the super fun Coffee Love stamp set from Precious Remembrance Shop along with an image from another fabulous PRS set called New Day.  I stamped the coffee cup from Coffee Love on two coordinating papers from a My Mind's Eye paper pad.   The full cup was trimmed out from one and then pieces of the other were trimmed out and adhered to the cup as you see.  I then stamped the sentiment in the center of the cup.  I trimmed down another coordinating piece of paper and cut it on the diagonal.  The pieces were adhered to a light green cardstock base.  I stamped the image from the New Day that looks like a coffee stain in pink ink and then adhered the coffee cup.   Precious Remembrance Shop has a discount offer going on right now so I hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to save on some fantastic PRS sets through October 8th.  Going to add this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of anything goes.

As I indicated above A Jillian Vance Design is also a part of this hop.  I created a clean and simple design using thee AJVD sets Brew-tiful and But First Coffee.  I stamped the coffee cup ring image from But First Coffee in two different inks (kraft and taupe) on off white cardstock.  The coffee bean image was stamped in a really dark brown.  I stamped the sentiment (from Brew-tiful) using a light brown ink and then die cut the word coffee (from the Coffee, Tea & Me die set) from brown glitter cardstock and some scrap cardstock.  All the die cuts were adhered together and then adhered to the card to complete the sentiment.  I'm adding this to the CAS(E) this Sketch link up as I used their sketch for the layout.  Make sure that you head over to the AJVD blog to see my card along with projects from other AJVD design team members and to leave a comment for a chance to win a $100 prize pack!

Have a wonderful day and enjoy the hop!

september pti blog hop...

Hey there!  Feels like ages since I last posted, but it has only been a week, lol!  It is the 25th of September and that means it is time for PTI's monthly blog hop.  With fall now here the inspiration for this month's hop is a beautifully appointed fall table.  I decided to draw my inspiration from all the beautiful fall colors.  I have had PTI's Text and Texture: Roses for a long time and sadly had not used it so I decided to get it out to use to make my card.   I cut a piece of Harvest Gold and then stamped the roses images using a mustard yellow ink and a pumpkin orange ink.  I then die cut the image with a rectangle die.  Using the smallest die in the PTI Double Ups die set I die cut a piece of Harvest Gold and stamped the words Harvest and Blessings from the Color Pop: Autumn set in VersaFine CLAIR Acorn ink.  The word Bountiful (from the Color Pop: Autumn die set) was die cut from Ripe Avocado paper three times and adhered together.   Additional Ripe Avocado was die cut with a larger rectangle die as a mat for the stamped piece.  I layered up everything and then added a few sequins in rust and yellow to finish up the card.   With the addition of the sequins I'm going to add this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge and I will be adding this to the Time Out challenge as the colors I used for my card are similar to those found in their inspiration photo.

Hope you have a wonderful day and happy hopping!

rain or shine...

Hey there!  Fall is fast approaching and while we do not have the severe weather that is affecting the east coast our typical Pacific Northwest fall weather has arrived... rain.   So my card today is rather appropriate.  I used the MFT stamp set Rain or Shine along with the matching dies.  The 2018 MFT Design Super Star contest is going on right now and one of the categories is coloring virtuoso.    I'm not sure that I can call myself a coloring virtuoso, but I have been working on improving my coloring skills and to that end decided to enter as a challenge to myself.   MFT design team member and product designer Torico shared a video that showed how to do speedy coloring with Copics and color pencils.   Torico is definitely a coloring virtuoso and so I was able to pick up a few things from her and gave the technique a try.   Overall I think I did a fairly good job, but still have lots to learn when it comes to shadows, etc.   I used the sketch from the current MFT sketch challenge so I will be adding the card there, as well as to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge to pop it up.  I popped up lots of things on my card.   After coloring and die cutting everything I inked up the Stitched Mini Scallop rectangle with Lucky Clover and Broken China distress oxide ink.   The sentiment was stamped and die cut with a Slanted Sentiment strip.  Then I layered up all the images as you see on a panel of MFT smooth white cardstock and then added the panel to a light blue cardstock base.   For my color pencil coloring I used my small collection of Polychromos pencils and Prismacolor pencils.  The ink was Memento Tuxedo Black.

Have a wonderful day!

hello...

Hey there!  Popping in with a card for a few challenges:  MFT Design Superstar, Paper Players, Freshly Made Sketches and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge (pop it up... the strips are popped up).   As indicated the MFT Design Superstar challenge is happening right now and well... I just can't pass up a good challenge!  This card is for the clean and simple genius category.   I love a good clean and simple design and that is what this week's Fis all about!  I trimmed down some MFT smooth white cardstock into strips and then adhered strips of MFT silver glitter cardstock to the backs of each strip.  The butterfly (from the MFT Beautiful Butterflies stamp set) was stamped in the mint and blackberry colors per the Paper Players challenge and then die cut with the matching die. I wasn't really sure that I would like the mint and blackberry together, but I really do!   I adhered the strips with foam dots and then determined where I wanted the butterfly to be placed.  I stamped the word hello (part of a sentiment from the MFT Springtime Blooms stamp set) in Crumb Cake ink.   The butterfly was adhered and then I added the wood veneer butterflies to bring in a bit more of the crumb cake like color.  My fourth color per the PP challenge is silver.

Have a wonderful day!

i just miss you...

Hey there!  Hope your September is off to a good start.   I'm popping in with a card that I made today.  I actually stamped and colored earlier last week, but never had a chance to turn into a card.  When I saw that the new Flower challenge is an anything goes challenge I thought I would finally turned the image I colored into a card and enter their challenge.   The image I used is from a limited edition stamp set from Stampin Up! called Blended Seasons and I stamped it in VersaFine CLAIR Morning Mist ink on light gray cardstock.  I then colored the image with my polychromos color pencils and then added the sentiment using the same gray ink.  I simply die cut the image with the largest AJVD Stitched Dot rectangle die and then adhered it to a white cardstock base.  I will be adding this to the Flower challenge, as well as to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge to use stamping on your card.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

STAMPtember Blog Party!!

Hey friends!!  Simon Says Stamp's huge month long party called STAMPtember has arrived and today I'm part of a huge blog party being hosted by Simon Says Stamp.   Now this blog party isn't a hop, but each person participating in the party has a special code that you can use to get free items or discounts.  Make sure you hit as many blogs on the list (available on the Simon Says Stamp blog) as you just never know what you might find.  Think of it as a sort of treasure hunt!  As you can see I have a code that you can use to have a free set of Doodlebug Breakfast Buddies shape sprinkles stickers added to your order.   This code is valid through 11:59 pm EDT on September 4th.  You can find the new release here.

Simon Says Stamp generously supplied me with a gorgeous new mandala stamp called Nature Mandala designed by the crazy talented Stephanie Low!!   I love her designs and just purchased a stamp set she created for the last SSS release.  I can't wait to get it, but in the meantime I have some cards to share that I made using Nature Mandala!   For the first set of cards you see I did some heat embossing.  The card on the bottom I stamped on kraft cardstock and then heat embossed the image using some sparkly gold embossing powder.  It is really pretty in person, but hard to see in the photo.  I did take a close up so you can see the sparkly embossing better.  On the top card I embossed the image in white and then did the emboss/resist technique using Distress Oxide inks in Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey.     Because I wanted the image to be the focus I kept things simple with my sentiments.  For the bottom card I stamped a sentiment from the SSS set Mom Flowers on some kraft cardstock in black and then trimmed the strip down.  A strip of gold glitter cardstock was added to one side of the card base and then the main image panel was adhered along with the sentiment.  For the second card I used a sentiment from the SSS Take Heart set along with the layered heart die set that works with the Take Heart set.

For the second card I pulled out some patterned paper from Pink Fresh Studio that came in the Simon Says Stamp June card kit.   I found a yellow ink that worked well with the pattern on the paper and then stamped the full image on the paper.  I then trimmed the paper into two pieces.  I used sentiments from the SSS set Handwritten Floral Greetings and stamped them in VersaFine Vintage Sepia.   I added a strip of dark brown woodgrain cardstock to the bottom of each panel and then adhered them to the card bases.   I finished things off with some yellow sequins from Simon Says Stamp.   I really like the subtle look that stamping on the patterned paper gives the image when stamped with a complimentary color.   Going to add this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of anything goes.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the blog party!!
