More Christmas cards...

Yep... still making Christmas cards!  I think I still need a couple more, but need to make out my list to know for sure.  The first card is for Color Throwdown.  I recently got the Spellbinders Kaleidoscope Plaid die set and have been wanting to make a card with it so I used it for this card.  I die cut the bottom layer from green, the middle from red and then the top layer from aqua.   I was going to go in one direction and tried the idea I  had in mind.  The idea didn't turn out quite the way I wanted it to, but that happens, right?   So I just moved forward with the rest of my idea and finished the card.  I used my Glimmer hot foil system to foil the senitment in silver on green cardstock and then I used two dies from a Spellbinders small die kit to create the little bow for my present.  I die cut white cardstock using a Spellbinders Essentials Rectangle die and adhered the kaleidoscope plaid piece to the rectangle and then added the bow.  To bring in a little more silver I added silver flatback pearls from Spellbinders to the center of the bow and to the present.  Going to add this one to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of anything goes.

Don't forget that Spellbinders is having a huge sale going on through tomorrow.  Click here or on my side bar to head to the sale.  Lots of great deals to be had!

The second card is for the MFT sketch and color challenge.  It looks alot like the first card in layout and honestly I didn't plan it that way.  I actually made this card before I made the CTD card!  I love snowflakes (seriously... who doesn't?) and have several older snowflake stamp and die sets from MFT so I pulled out one set to create my card.  I used inks from MFT and PTI for the snowflakes.  To bring in the red I stamp the sentiment from an older MFT sentiment set with watermark ink on red cardstock and heat embossed with white embossing powder.   The sentiment was die cut with an MFT fishtail flag stack die.  I used an MFT scalloped rectangle die for the center panel.  I arranged the snowflakes and the sentiment strip on the panel and adhered them with liquid adhesive and foam dots.  Once I had everything adhered down I added Nuvo Crystal drops in Morning Dew.  I was going to add more around the snowflakes, but I just didn't have the nerve to commit to that, lol!  So... I kept it clean and simple.

ornaments...

Hello!  Stopping in with a quick post of a card that I made for Color Throwdown and Freshly Made Sketches.   I wasn't even sure that this card was going to get made as I was really having troubles with the CTD combo.  I tried watercoloring, but couldn't come up with a nice color that would pass for cream so I looked through my cardstock and found some cardstock that I think is from Stampin Up!  Or it could be PTI's Rustic Cream... I really don't know!  I used the Simon Says Stamp Ornate Ornaments stamp and die set, as well as a sentiment from an older SSS stamp set called Gifts of Love.  Since the theme at the SSS Wednesday challenge and the SSS flickr challenge is Christmas I will also be posting the card there.  Super simple... I stamped the three ornaments in Versamark watermark ink on colored cardstock and heat embossed with WOW embossing powder in gold.  The ornaments were die cut with the matching die and adhered to a white die cut cardstock panel with liquid adhesive.  I added little gold twine bows to each ornament and heat embossed the sentiment in gold, as well.  While I wasn't certain about the color combo at first I do really like how the card turned out!

25 Days of Christmas Tags 2020!

Hello everyone!  Have you been playing along with Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas tags this year?  I have created a few tags so far, but today I'm sharing a tag that I created as a member of the A Jillian Vance Design design team.    Today is Wednesday and that means usually I post a project over on the AJVD blog and give you a sneak peek here on my blog.  But today I'm sharing my tag (and a bonus tag) here on the blog.  You can still head over to the AJVD blog to see what the other design team members created.    I will be posting my usually Wednesday project tomorrow on Thursday.

I went a little rustic and a little elegant for my tag.  I die cut the tag from white cardstock using the Minnie Pearl Tag die set.  I then cut the Rustic Wood Slice from kraft cardstock and adhered just a portion of it to my tag, trimming off the excess.  I used the Fresh Cut Pine dies to cut my pine branches from white glitter cardstock and the pine cones from brown glitter cardstock.  I adhered these to the tag with Just Glue It adhesive.  I tied a bow from rustic twine and adhered that to the tag with Just Glue It adhesive, as well.    The sentiment is from the Just BeCLAUS stamp set on kraft cardstock that I had die cut with one of the strip dies from the Sentiment Strips 2.0 die set with VersaFine CLAIR Acorn ink.  I trimmed the sentiment down and adhered it to the tag.  Going to add this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of Christmas.

Now for my bonus tag.  This one was super quick to put together.  I got the idea from a card that I saw in a video I watched the other day.  The card featured a deer die cut from white cardstock and then just the antlers die cut from gold glitter cardstock and adhered to the deer.  I loved the look of the white and gold together.  I used some very old Christmas paper called Santa's List (it is almost gone now!) and die cut some pieces using the Rustic Wood Slice die.  I was going to use the die cuts that way, but really didn't like how it looked.   So I die cut the wood slices down with one of the new Stitched Dot In and Out circle dies.  I adhered the two circle together to give the tag a little more substance.  I punched a hole in the top with a punch and threaded through gold tinsel trim.  The antlers were adhered to my Stately Stag die cut from white cardstock and then adhered to the tag with foam tape.  I die cut a sentiment strip using the Sentiment Strips 2.0 die set using coordinating patterned paper and then heat embossed the sentiment from the Just BeCLAUS stamp set using WOW embossing powder in gold.   The sentiment was trimmed down and adhered with Just Glue It Adhesive.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out all the other tags created by the AJVD design team members!

a card and two more tags...

Hello!  Hope you had a great week.  We are having some crazy windy weather right now.   I guess winter is on its way!  I have a card to share today, as well as two tags.  First up is the card.   Two of my favorite challenges are Color Throwdown and Freshly Made Sketches and I often combine the two.   I haven't lately, but I did for this card.   As soon as I saw the color combo for CTD I knew exactly what I would be making and what products I would be using.    That doesn't happen to often, lol!  But I had recently purchased a fun die set from Spellbinders called Joyful Christmas Tree and had been wanting to make something with it.  I love this little tree as it reminds me of something from a Dr. Seuss book.   I die cut the base from white cardstock and then the outlines from a light aqua cardstock.  I layered those up and then got to work creating the background for the card.  I die cut a panel of white cardstock and then the red striped paper.  I trimmed down the red striped paper and adhered it to the white cardstock panel.  The sentiment was then foiled in red with my Glimmer machine.   I then adhered the tree with foam tape.  The star at the top was die cut from silver foil and a silver pearl added to the center.  I then die cut multiple red flowers using another Spellbinders die set, adhered the flowers together and adhered them to the tree.  Little silver pearls were added to the centers and then I added additional silver pearls as you see.  The panel was then adhered to a light aqua cardstock base.  It took me awhile to make this card, but I love how it turned out and seriously... who doesn't love aqua, red and silver?!  Don't forget about the Spellbinders buy one get one free sale going on.  Just click on the link over on my sidebar to shop.

Now for my tags.  I created both of these for Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags event.  One tag has already been entered into the gallery.  I will be post the other tag to that gallery with this post.  Both tags were inspired by day 2 of the event.  One tag was created by one of the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge design team member Maura.  She created a tag with an ice skater on it.  Her tag was done in blues with snowflakes.  I did mine using red and cream.  The little ice skater is a SSS die that I got last year (I think) in a card kit that I purchased.  I can't find the papers that I used for the tag, but I do know that it is an older paper pad.   The snowflakes were die cut using the Daphne snowflake die from SSS.  The sentiment is from the SSS stamp set Yuletide Holiday set.  This tag has already been added to the 25 Days of Christmas tags gallery.

The second tag uses the fun little Gnome die from Simon Says Stamp that came in a card kit that I bought last year.  I'm not super into gnomes, but they are kinda cute and when I saw SSS design team member Lin's tag using the same die I decided to create a tag similar to her tag.  I used papers from a 6 year old paper pad from My Mind's Eye called Sleigh Bells Ring.  I actually have some My Mind's Eye patterned paper that is even older and you will see it soon used on another project!   I used some A Jillian Vance Design dies to create the main tag, as well as the small tag.  The gnome was die cut from various papers and pieced together.  After creating the tag I used a sentiment from the SSS Gnome for the Holidays set and embossed it on the tag in the lower corner.  I then adhered the gnome and then added the little tag along with the red and green twine I used.   This one will be added to the 25 Days of Christmas Tags gallery.

a card and a tag...

Hey there!  As I write this post the weekend is winding down.  I always love playing along with Color Throwdown so I just had to make a card.  Since I wanted to get the card done quickly I pulled out one of my favorite stamp sets from Stampin Up! Kinda Eclectic to get the job done.   This set has lots of fun images that are great for layering and it is one stamp set that I do not think I will ever get rid of.  Once I had everthing stamp I die cut the panel and adhered it to a white cardstock base.  All the inks are from Catherine Pooler.  Because the brown I used seems to be a little dark, almost black, I decided to add some brown sequins that I found in my stash to the card to finish things off.

Now for my tag.  I think every year around this time I often mention that I don't make many tags.  The only reason I usually make a tag or two is because of Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags.   I haven't been following along closely with all of the festivities, but I did happen to see Tracey's tag from day 3 on Instagram and I couldn't get it out of my head.  I had recently purchased a stamp set from Stampin Up! called Joyful Holly and thought it would be perfect to use for a tag.  I used the color combo from The Paper Players for my little tag so I will be posting it there, as well.  I die cut the tag and then stamped the outline image in VersaFine CLAIR Nocturne and then added the layers using Altenew Hunter for the leaves and Velvet for the berries.  The sentiment was stamped in VersaMark watermark ink on vellum and then heat embossed in silver.  I die cut the sentiment with a sentiment strip die from AJVD and adhered it with rolled up glue dots.  I finished off the tag with some red ribbon that I tied with hunter green twine.  Before tying the bow I added red and green bells.

washi flowers...

Hello!  Popping in with a card that was super quick to put together thanks to some pretty flowers die cut from washi tape.  I have my friend, Greta, to thank for the washi flowers.   She had purchased the Painted Fantasy washi tape and the dies that can be used to cut the washi from Altenew.  I  had purchased the Calming Bouquet washi tape from Altenew and so we did a swap!   This card will be heading to Freshly Made Sketches, as well as the Altenew monthly inspiration challenge.   The inspiration photo for the Altenew challenge features bold flowers against a dark blue background.  I did incorporate the dark blue color into my card by die cutting the banner element from dark blue cardstock.   I adhered the washi tape flowers with foam tape to the banner and then added the banner to a white cardstock base.  The sentiment is from the Trigonometry stamp set.  I stamped that on a white banner strip using VersaFine CLAIR Nocturne ink, trimmed down and adhered to the card front.  Love how quickly this card came together!  Decided to add this to the Flower Challenge to put a sentiment on it.
