thank you kindly...

Hello!  I made a card and now I'm sharing it, lol!  This is for Freshly Made Sketches and Color Hues.  The Color Hues combo is lilac and mint two colors that I don't often put together, but I challenged myself to give it a try.   Here's what I made.

I used Shaded Lilac and Salvaged Patina distress oxides and ink blended the Memory Box Cottage Flower Stem.    I used Waffle Flower Crafts 1+ blender brushes and tried to add some shading.  You can see a little bit of it on the leaves, but my Shaded Lilac pad was really juicy and despite adding several layers of color to the center of the flower, there isn't much difference.  Oh well, I tried!  I did use a little bit of Antique Linen for the flower center.  I have several Memory Box patterned paper pads and I found these neutral plaid that has a bit of minty color to it.  I used that along with strips of light gray and white cardstocks that I embossed with my old favorite Sizzix Swiss Dot embossing folder.  The sentiment is a new product from Memory Box/Open Studio called Greetings Tabs.   The tabs come in black and white, circle or strip and feature either thank you sentiments or birthday sentiments.   Perfect for when you just need to add a quick sentiment to a card.

Since I did do some ink blending I'm also going to add this to the Memory Box February challenge of ink blending.   I'm also going to add this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge

That's it for me!  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

red magnolia...

Hello and happy Friday!  I'm back to share a card that I made for Freshly Made Sketches and Color Throwdown.   The color combo at CTD is red, kraft and white.  I challenged myself to use the colors in a sort of unconventional way and I really like the outcome.  Take a look.

I just love the Magnolia  Blooming Bud die from Memory Box and as I was casting about for ideas as to how to use the CTD colors I thought it would be interesting and a little unconventional to color my magnolia blossom red and the leaves kraft color.  I die cut all the pieces from white cardstock and then used Waffle Flowers 1+ blender brushes to add the colors to the pieces.  I used Lumberjack Plaid for the magnolia blossom and Tea Dye for the leaves.  I did use Gathered Twigs for the stem to provide a little contrast to the leaves.   I used Memory Box white woodgrain cardstock for the main panel and the oval.  Memory Box kraft woodgrain cardstock was a very close match to my ink blended leaves so I used that for the stripe element.   To make the stripe stand out more I ran a line of glue along each side and then added the red twine as it closely matched the ink blended magnolia.   I finished with a little sentiment from the Memory Box/Simon Says Stamp Stamptember collaboration set called Kind Flowers.   I added dimension to the flower and leaves by popping up certain parts with different thicknesses of foam squares.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

thanks...

Hello!  Popping to share a card for a couple of challenges:  Freshly Made Sketches and Altenew February challenge.   Love the fun, bright colors in the Altenew challenge so I had to get something made before the month was over.   Take a look.

I used the pretty Altenew Sketched Florals stamp and die set along with their fun Dotted Waves debossing cover die.  I stamped the flowers using Pinkfresh Studio inks and then die cut with the matching dies.   I used the Memory Box curved capped dotted layering dies to die cut the panel from glossy cardstock.  I then debossed it with the Dotted Waves debossing cover die.  The sentiments are also from the Sketched Florals set.  I stamped both on vellum, applied black embossing powder and heat set.  The word 'thanks' has a matching die so I used that to cut the word and a thin labels die for the subsentiment.   Adhered everything to the black panel and then added it to a white die cut panel and card base.

birthday cards...

Hello!  Took some time out from stitching and made two birthday cards.  First up is a card for the following challenges:  Color Throwdown and Seize the Birthday.   For Seize the Birthday I'm going with anything goes since I used kraft and two colors.   I think I will also add this one to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of anything goes.  Take a look.

For this card I did a little inkblending on patterned paper.  In her most recent video Jennifer McGuire did inkblending on patterned paper.   Something that is super simple to do and creates a pretty look.   I used patterned paper from the Memory Box Anemone Plaid 6x6 pad and inks from Hero Arts.   I kept the background very simple.  I die cut a circle using the largest die from the PoppyStamps Simple Rings die set.  This set cuts a circle and a very thin border ring around the circle.  This allowed me to use the kraft ring around the white circle.  So that the kraft circle didn't go to waste I glued it behind white one to give the circle a little bit of height.  Then I added the kraft ring.  The sentiment is from Memory Box and was also die cut from white and kraft.  I finished the card with tiny light blue gems as the dot for the "i" and on the little stamens on the flowers.

My next card is heading to Just Us Girls and Color Hues challenges.  Both challenges happen to have the same color combo this week.    Yay!  Two challenges with one card, lol!   Take a look.

Recently I purchased the super sweet Poppystamp Nordic Bird die set.   I hadn't put it away because I really wanted to use it.  I thought it perfect for the challenges.   The die is all one piece so I die cut it from red, pink and white cardstock.  As I was putting the bird together I noticed that my bird is not facing in the same direction as the bird on the packaging.  The bird on the packaging faces to the right and mine faces to the left.  Obviously some kind of mistake occurred with my die, but I don't mind!  I used a little branch die from another Poppystamps die set and the same Simple Rings dies.  The ring dies were still out so why not use them?   I stamped the sentiment from a Spellbinders stamp set on the white arched cardstock piece and then added the circle, branch and bird.  This piece was popped up with thin foam squares on a light gray cardstock rectangle and then added to the white cardstock base.  Another clean and simple design!

That's it for me.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
