summer coffee lover's blog hop...

Hey!!  Happy summer!!  Are you hopping along with the Summer Coffee Lover's blog hop???  I am even though I'm not a coffee drinker!!  Lately my drink of choice has been a London Fog tea latte... super yummy!!  Anyway... I do like joining in on the Coffee Lover's blog hop fun as it gives me an opportunity to get out the coffee/tea related stamps and dies that I own!  Today I combined stamps and dies from two of the sponsors for the hop:  Clearly Whimsy Stamps and A Jillian Vance Design.  I used the current Fusion challenge to create my card.  I put together the sketch with the inspiration photo and created a patriotic cup of coffee!!   And since I used patterned paper for my little coffee cup I will also be adding this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge.   I stamped the cup with red ink and then die cut it with the matching die.  The top of the cup and the wrap were die cut from this fun patriotic patterned paper that I found in my stash.   Did some second generation stamping using the coffee ring image from the AJVD But First Coffee stamp set and then added the sentiment (from the same set) using red ink.

Have a wonderful day... and happy hopping!!

java a great day...

Hello!!  Squeezed in some time today to make a card for this week's CASology challenge, as well as the current (and last... boo hoo!) Seize the Sketch challenge.   When I saw this week's cue word I just had to play along.  I'm not a coffee drink (my elixir of choice is a tall soy Chai from Starbucks), but I do happen to have some cute coffee inspired stamps (and dies) from Clearly Whimsy Stamps.

I happen to still have out my BasicGrey Highline 6x6 pad and some I used some papers from that pad to make my little "to go" coffee cups.  After die cutting all the pieces I adhered them together.  Adding the heart to one cup and the sentiment to the other.  I stamped a little heart up in one corner and then adhered the cups to my cardstock piece that I die cut with my brand spanking new Dotted Dies set from Avery Elle.  I absolutely love the look of this perfectly cut panel!!  Since this is a pretty clean and simple design I'm going to also post this card to the current Addicted to Stamps and More challenge:  CAS.

Thanks for stopping by...

life is...

Hello!!  Checking in with a little card I made for a couple of challenges.  I enjoyed my week away.  It was nice to have some down time and not have an agenda (ie... housework, places to go, etc) for more than one day and to spend some time reading.  I was able to read a really awesome book and get slightly addicted to crossword puzzles using an app on my Nook tablet!  Now it is back to reality, lol!

So, I made this card for the following challenges:  Color Throwdown and Freshly Made Sketches.  I used some Clearly Whimsy Stamps (Travel 1) and dies (Leaving on a Jet Plane) for this card.  I love the CWS set Travel 1.  It is full of cute little travel icons and has some great sentiments.  I stamped the road image from the set using three of the colors from the combo and then used the fourth for the airplane icon.  The sentiment was stamped in black, trimmed out and popped up over the black bakers twine I tied around the panel.

my finger prints are all over it!

Hello friends!!  Wow... it is hot, hot, hot here in Western Washington and it is expected to get hotter as the week progresses.   So, with nice weather here to stay for awhile crafting is taking a back seat to having fun with my boys.  After along day yesterday of swim class, birthday parties and church  I managed to put together this one layer card for the current Less is More challenge (to use your finger prints... thus the title of my post!) and ColourQ challenge before I went to bed.
The stamps are from the Clearly Whimsy set Happy Everything.  I stamped the candles using Island Indigo and Coastal Cabana and then added the "flames" using my pinkie finger.  The happy was stamped using Hero Arts Punch chalk ink and the birthday using black ink.  I finished things off partially embossing the upper right corner of the card with a honeycomb embossing folder and my trusty craft mallet and a bit of washi tape.  The partial embossing is hard to see in the photo so I have included a detail shot.   Hmmm... wondering if I need to include a detail shot of my finger prints, too...

Thanks for stopping by...

hello...

Hey there... hope everyone in the US had a wonderful 4th of July.  We had a nice one, but it turned a bit windy and chilly toward the evening.  However, my little guy was completely satisfied with all the fireworks he got to light off so that made up for the turn in the weather!  Got sometime today to make a card.  This one is for Less is More (earth tone colors) and CAS(E) this Sketch.  Oh and I think I will pop this into Virginia's View die cuts challenge, too.
For this card I used the newly released Clearly Whimsy Stamps set Happy Everything and the Clearly Whimsy Stamps Hello word die.   I used two shades of green (SU!'s Gumball Green and Pear Pizzazz) and kraft (SU! Crumb Cake) and stamped the two starburst images from the set.  The "hello" was die cut twice from kraft and white cardstock and adhered together slightly offset (although you can't really see it).  After adhering the "hello" I added some sequins in the same shades of green and little wood veneer stars.  I hope this is "earth tone" enough for the LIM challenge... they can be a tough lot!

Thanks for stopping by...

sweet... on you

Hey there... have a little card to share that I made using the current Color Throwdown combo. (ETA:  Decided to pop this into the current Virginia's View challenge: die cuts)  I pulled out some of my older Clearly Whimsy Stamps and dies and made this:
The CWS stamps I used are Sweet as Candy - Sweet Images and Sweet as Candy - Sweet Sentiments, as well as the Sweet as Candy - Lollipop and Sweet as Candy - Large Word die.  Love those cute little lollipops and they are so easy to make using the lollipop die!.  I die cut the word "sweet" twice (one in turquoise and one in cream) and then adhered them together creating a slight  "shadow" with the cream one.  Finished things off by distressing the edges of the turquoise cardstock and patterned paper and adding the baker's twine bows.

Thanks for stopping by...

Clearly Whimsy Stamps June Release Blog Hop!!

Hey there!!  Back with my final projects for the Clearly Whimsy Stamps June release!  All the stamps and dies are now available in the Whimsy Stamps store.   We are again joined by guest designers Jen Carter and Becky Carafa!  You should have gotten here from Amy's blog.  If not, please make sure you head over to the Whimsy Stamps blog for the complete hop list and to start from the beginning.  Today one lucky hopper will win the following stamps and dies:  Time for Tea, Time for Tea Additions stamps and Time for Tea additions die set!!
Both of my cards use stamps and dies from the Time for Tea Collection and papers from the American Crafts Cut & Paste 6x6 pad.  I die cut the tea pot and cup and then stamped them and the flowers  using yellow and teal inks.  Aren't the little teapot and cup just adorable??  Added the strips of paper and then the sentiment.
The second card is based on the current Seize the Sketch layout.  I embossed the oval portion of the sketch on my yellow cardstock, added the patterned paper (from Cut & Paste) and then adhered the sentiment label.  The following are graphics of all the stamps and dies I used today.

Thanks for stopping by... your next stop on the hop is Heather.  Don't forget to comment on each stop on the hop for a chance to win!

Clearly Whimsy Stamps June Release Hop

Hello friends!!  Clearly Whimsy Stamps in releasing some fun new stamps and dies on Saturday, June 28th and today the design team is showcasing several of the new sets:  Happy Everything and matching dies and Distressed Backgrounds and Ink Splats.   We are joined by guest designers Jen Carter and Becky Carafa.  You should have gotten here from Heather's blog, but if you didn't then please head over to the Whimsy Stamps blog for the complete hop list.  There is a prize up for grabs, $15.00 gift certificate, so you will want to make sure that you stop at each blog on the hop.

My card is uses the new Happy Everything stamp set and the matching "happy" word die.  My layout is based on the current AAA Card challenge (CASEing dt member Vicki).  I went with the overall layout of her card and some of the colors, but changed things up just a bit by applying three rows of washi tape (being careful to line everything up) to my cardstock piece instead of inking like Vicki.  The "happy" was die cut and adhered to the washi tape.  The balloons were stamped, trimmed out and adhered.  I hand drew in the string and then stamped the "birthday sentiment underneath.    Here is the stamp and die that I used today:

Your next stop on the hop is Simonne.  Don't forget to comment for a chance to win the $15.00 prize!  Thanks for stopping by....

{for my PRS hop post, click here; for my Colour Me..! post, click here or scroll down}

Hey there... have a card to share for a couple of challenges:  ColourQ and Seize the Sketch.
This was an interesting sketch for me to work with.  The little strip across the top kinda threw me off, but I think my decision to use some baker's twine instead of a strip of paper was a good one.  The stamps and dies are from Clearly Whimsy Stamps (Travel 2).  I just love that cute little camera... so happy it has a matching die!  To keep things from bulking up too much I embossed the rectangle (Spellbinders long plain rectangle die) on my kraft cardstock instead of using a cardstock piece.  The blue baker's twine isn't a super close match for the blue in the ColourQ combo, but it works!

CMCC #24... life is...

Hey there!!  Only a couple more days and my kiddos are out for summer!! But in the meantime there is a brand new challenge up at Colour Me..! and we have some fun summery kinda colors to work with:  meduim green and meduim blue.  The SU! colors are Marina Mist and Pear Pizzazz two of my very favorite shades of green.  All the details can be found on the Colour Me...! blog.

Last week I got some yummy new Clearly Whimsy Stamps in the mail and I'm using one of these sets today (Travel 1).   The layout is based on the sketch for last week's Freshly Made Sketchs.  The road image was stamped in the two inks and then die cut using an MFT Fishtail Flag Stax die.  After stamping the road again using black ink I die cut the cardstock using the large tag from the Reverse Confetti Tag Me die set.  Stamped the car, trimmed it out and added it to the tag.  Once that was done I added sentiment.  Everything was adhered and then the final portion of the sentiment stamped.  As this fits the current Addicted to CAS challenge:  transport, I will be adding it to that challenge, as well.

Thanks for stopping by...please check out the projects created by my fellow teamies Tara, Hayley, Sam, Katie, Brenda and June guest designer, Shirley!

hey there... sunshine!

Hey there!!  We have been enjoying some sunshine in my neck of the woods.  The kiddos have only one week of school left and they are counting down the days!! Can't believe how fast the school year has gone by.  My oldest survived his first year of high school... YAY!  I can't tell you how happy I am that his is attending the same high school that I did.  Anywhoo... I do have a card to share.  This one is for CASology (shine) and Time Out (Summer with a twist, but I didn't include the twist).

I recently purchased some Amy Tangerine products (from the Cut & Paste line) from Peachy Cheap (I love Peachy Cheap! Check them out here for their daily deals on papercrafting products.) and one of the items was a set of wood veneer pieces.  I decided to use one, along with a piece of patterned paper from the 6x6 pad.  The stamps are from the Clearly Whimsy Stamps set Happy Hello.  The patterned paper was cut and matted with some rustic white cardstock and then adhered to a kraft card base.  The speech bubble tag was adhered and the sentiment "hey there" stamped inside.  I stamped the sun, trimmed it out, adhered yellow sequins in the center and then adhered it to the tag.  Super simple.

thanks sow much...

Hey there!!  Hope your week is going well.  Have a card that I made for the current color challenge over at Splitcoaststampers (yellow, strawberry pink and grey), as well as the current SCS CAS challenge (quick and stackable).  It works for this week's Less is More challenge (use more than one stamp.. I used three) so I'm going to add it to the line up there.
I used some the really fun Clearly Whimsy Stamps:   In the Garden and In the Garden Additions stamps.  To make sure that I got the flowers centered I used my trusty ruler to find the centerpoint of the card.   I then stamped the flowers using SU!'s So Saffron and Palette Belle Rose.  The sentiment was stamped in SU!'s Smoky Slate.  The bottom corners were rounded and then adhered to the card base.  I added the sequins and the baker's twine to finish off the card.

sending you pots of love...

Hello, hello everyone!!  Popping in with a little card that I made using some of the newly released Clearly Whimsy Stamps, In the Garden Additions.   The layout for my card is based on this week's Sketch Saturday layout.  Sketch Saturday is being sponsored this week by Whimsy Stamps.  You can find out all the details regarding the challenge on the Sketch Saturday blog.  I hope you will check it out you could win a $15.00 gift certificate to Whimsy Stamps!

My card uses some yummy My Mind's Eye Cut & Paste Adorbs patterned paper and the sweet little pot and sunflower images from In the Garden Additions.  I just love the sentiment... isn't it cute??   Love the Sketch Saturday layout, too... you can go super simple (like I did) or you could really layer it up.  I hope you will take the time to check out the challenge! Here is the sketch:

dream...explore...discover...

Hello, hello!!   Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!  We have had lots of rain, but that means lots of time to make cards, ha!   The last few days I have been showing you cards made with the new stamps and dies from Clearly Whimsy Stamps (there is still time to comment to win one of three prizes!).  Today I have a card for a couple of challenges (Unscripted Sketches and ColourQ) that uses one of the new CWS stamp sets (Travel 2).  ETA:  popping this into this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: clean and simple.

This card is super clean and super simple, although it did take me awhile to make it, lol!  I started by stamping each of the signs in the road sign image using yellow, green and purple inks.  The entire image was stamped on kraft cardstock, everything was trimmed out and layered up using various heights of foam dimensionals.  I cut a strip of white cardstock and then did some second generation stamping using the same yellow, green and purple inks and the earth image from the set.  I adhered the strip and the sign to a kraft card base and then added the black baker's twine.  I wasn't sure I was going to like the second generation stamping, but I think it turned out pretty well.

Thanks for stopping by...
