Best Friends Forever...

Hey there!! Here with a card for two challenges:  JustRite Friday Challenge (use your scraps) and a new to me sketch challenge called Cardabilities.  When I saw the sketch for Cardabilities I wasn't sure I would give it a try.   But then I remembered the JustRite challenge, that ends in a few short hours (yikes) and thought I would give it a try.

I kept everything really clean and simple for this card.  I used up scraps from two different My Mind's Eye Lost & Found 2 paper lines:  Sunshine & Rosy.  Boy... I sure do love the Lost & Found 2 collections.  I have used up alot of the pads that I have so I'm going to need to get more!  The JustRite stamps used are from the My Garden and Vintage Oval Labels sets.  I stamped the image in Tuxedo Black and then colored it with Copic markers.  The image was then die cut with a Spellbinder small plain die and the paper with a scalloped circle die.  The little flower was made using more scraps and the Spellbinders Rose Creations dies. The sentiment was stamped in yellow ink and punched out using a Stampin Up! punch.

Less is More - Monograms

Hey everyone... back with my card for this week's Less is More challenge.  Chrissie and Mandi (the head LIMs) sure know how to pick some great challenges and this week's challenge is no exception!   What is the challenge you might ask??  Well... the challenge is to use monograms on your card.   When I saw the challenge I thought "oh no... how am I going to do this one??"  Then I remembered that I had an alphabet set from JustRite Stamps that would work perfect for the challenge.  The set is really neat because it contains 3 sizes of the font (Brayton).   I decided to make a traditional type of monogrammed card using my initials RJD.  With a traditional monogram of this type the middle initial is the one from your last name and then the other two flank that one.   Usually the flanking initials are in a smaller font size, as well.

The card was made using supplies that I had out on my kitchen counter:  white, black and green cardstock and green and black inks.  I also used the Waltzingmouse Vintage Labels 2 set and some Spellbinders dies.

Thanks for taking a peek....

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI white, true black & true green; Ink:  bamboo leaves & true black; Stamps:  JustRite Brayton font, WMS Vintage Labels 2; Spellbinders Labels 2, plain & scalloped ovals

Best Friends Forever...

Hello... finally got a chance to make a card today that was just for fun and for a few challenges.  I have been busy making things the last few days, but nothing that I can share... at least not yet.

Anyway, I recently got a JustRite Stamps cling set called Vintage Oval Labels and had been wanting to find the right set of challenges to come along so I could make something with the set.  The title of my post comes from one of the sentiments in the set "best friends forever". Those challenges arrived when I saw the current JustRite Friday challenge and the current color challenge from CR84FN.   Because the JustRite challenge is a sketch and I had an idea as to what to do I thought everything would just fall into place, but it didn't.  I struggled all afternoon and into the evening (taking a break to make dinner and watch my little guy do some "scootering" as he calls it) before I finally got a card I was reasonably happy with and here it is:

Because I was struggling so much I just kept things as simple as I could.  I flipped the sketch on it's side because it just worked better for me.   A rolled rose was made with some grey felt and the medium rolled rose die from My Favorite Things.  Those dies are the neatest things.  I just saw that they have a new one that makes rolled daisies which looks pretty cool.   To add some interest to the grey paper I ran it through the Big Shot in the Swiss Dot embossing folder.   And, of course, I had to put some ribbon on the card.  I fiddled (as usual) with the bow for the longest time to get it just right because if the bow ain't right then momma ain't happy...   I'm also going to put this card into the current Flourishes challenge of anything goes.

Thanks for taking a peek...

Spring Posey

Posting a card for two challenges, JustRite Stampers Friday Challenge to make your own flower embellishments and Flourishes to use aqua, brown and yellow.  For the Flourishes challenge I decided to go with a more blue aqua color instead of a green aqua color.   I stamped the image from the JustRite set Breath of Spring in Memento Rich Cocoa and then colored it with Copic markers (BG000, BG01, BG02, YG00, YG03).   The image was then diecut using a Spellbinders Plain Oval die.  Dark Chocolate cardstock was diecut using a Spellbinders Scalloped Oval die and the two were layered together.  I used my new Spellbinders Labels 21 dies to cut the Lemon Tart cardstock.  Some PTI Spring Rain Bitty Dot Basics paper was cut to fit the card base and distressed with Old Paper ink and a distressing tool.

I made the flowers using cream felt, the Spring Rain pattern paper and PTI Lemon Tart buttons.  The felt and paper were cut using dies from my Heartfelt Creations/Spellbinders Posy Patch dies.   The Dark Chocolate cardstock looks black, but it is dark brown.

Thanks for taking a peek....

CR84FN is JustRite!

My card today uses the current colors from CR84FN of  light pink, bright pink & chartreuse, an absolutely lovely and springy color combination!   While I know I have patterned paper in all three of those colors, it didn't stop me from wanting to find something new and fresh to use to make my card.  I got that chance on Monday when I was able to stop at my favorite stamp store, Impress Rubber Stamps.  They had papers from the Making Memories line Dilly Dally that worked perfectly with the CR84FN colors.   So... I got a couple of sheets.

I'm also putting this card into the current JustRite challenge to use the "direct to rubber" method of inking your stamps (coloring the image with markers so you have more than one color on the stamp).  I used my Memento Angel Pink, Rose Bud & Cottage Ivy markers to color the sweet pea and border images from the JustRite set My Garden.   I then colored the sweet peas with the following Copic markers:  RV21, RV23, YG00 & YG03.   I diecut the sweet peas and the border using Spellbinders large circle dies and then lightly inked the edges with some Spun Sugar distress ink.    The card was finished off with some chartreusey May Arts silk ribbon.... yummy!

Thanks for taking a peek.... If you have never played along with CR84FN, you really should!  The color combos are fantastic (I mean just look at that inspiration photo!) and Mona, the creator, is just the sweetest!

Friends are....

the most wonderful thing!  I'm so glad that I have made some lovely "friends I haven't met, yet" here in the papercrafting world!  Hopefully I will be able to meet some of you in real life one day!  When I made this card today I wasn't necessarily thinking that this would be entered into any challenges, but the more I looked at it the more I realized it fit several out there.  First, it works for the current Sentimental Sundays challenge:  Friendship.  Second it fits the current Flourishes challenge:  flowers.  And third, I used the current Mojo Monday sketch for the card.

I started out by coloring the image from JustRite Stampers (My Garden set) with the following Copic makers:  RV93, RV32, RV34, Y21 & Y17.  I then diecut the image using a plain large Spellbinders circle die.  I stamped the border and diecut it using another plain large Spellbinders circle die and layered the two.  The color story was dictated by the Copic markers.   After looking at the colored image for a bit I pulled out some PTI Lavendar Moon cardstock and saw it was a perfect match.  I followed the sketch pretty closely.

Thanks for taking a peek...  thanks for your friendship!
