Welcome Little One...

Hey there... think I'm finally getting back in the swing of blogging.  Here it is Wednesday and I have a card to post!!  This one is for the current Flourishes release week challenge of New Year, New Challenge.. to make a card using either something to do with time (like father time) or a baby.  I went with the baby theme because I really don't have anything time related in my stamp collection.  For my card I used some Layers of Colors stamps because I don't have any Flourishes stamps that would have fit the bill (insert sad face).  The layout of the card is courtesy of Sketchbook Saturday and the super talented Chupa.

For my card I used some of the final remaining sheets of paper from my My Mind's Eye Lost & Found 2 Sunshine 6x6 pad.  I love the papers in that pad so I'm going to have to make sure I pick up another one here soon.  I chose to use a light aqua striped paper, as well as a black damask paper.  The ink is SU!'s new Pool Party (which is a pretty darn good match to PTI's Aqua Mist!).  Lots of diecutting one this one, too.  I used Spellbinders Labels 16 dies, plain and scalloped circle dies and a fancy tag die.  The ribbon is some yummy May Arts black crinkle ribbon.   The Layers of Colour stamps I used are "Flower Child" and "Starflower Frame".

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI white & SU! Pool Party; PP:  My Mind's Eye Sunshine; Stamps:  Layers of Colour; Spellbinders dies; May Arts black crinkle ribbon; white crochet ribbon; EK Success punch; Ink:  SU! Pool Party; Ranger Old Paper DI

Black and White...

Hi Ya!  Didn't think I would be posting anything for a few days, but then I saw that the challenge over at the Stampin' Sisters In Christ is a challenge to make a black and white or black and cream project.  I went with black and white.  Grace's devotional this week is absolutely fantastic and a definite must read.  I love how she contrasted the negative thoughts that we all have from time to time with the positive, affirming word of God!

For my card I used another newly acquired Layers of Color stamp:  Silk Moth.   I stamped the image on white cardstock using VersaMark watermark ink, applied black Filigree embossing powder and then heat set it.   The image was then trimmed out and popped up on a piece of white cardstock that I ran through my Big Shot in a Sizzix embossing folder.  To provide a bit more finish I added some black rhinestones to the image, as well as the embossed piece.   I didn't put a sentiment on the card as I just wanted to let the image shine.

Thanks for taking a peek....

Its In the Bag!

Hi Ya!!  Well... our crappy weather came back (insert frowny face), but it looks like it will only be hanging around for a day or so and then clear off.  I can't complain though with so much of the country experiencing extremely hot weather.    My project today is for three challenges.   The JUGettes have challenged (JUGs #94) us this week to create and/or embellish a gift bag.  So I decided to combine that challenge with the current CR84FN challenge to use the colors of light pink, bright pink and yellow and the current Card Patterns sketch.

A few weeks ago I got some new stamps from Layers of Color.  One of them was the beautiful cling stamp, May Bouquet.  So last week I inked it up and colored it with some Copic markers and then trimmed it out.  I had intend to make a card with it for the CR84FN challenge, but couldn't figue out a good design.  Thank goodness for the Card Patterns sketch!  After that everything just kinda came together.   Now I have a sweet little gift bag to give someone the next time I have a small gift to give!

Thanks for taking a peek....

Classic Elegance @ the Tea Room

This past Monday I was so excited to learn that my card was picked to be the in Tea Time Terrific Top 3 at the Shabby Tea Room!  (The card also earned top honors from the gals at JUGs!!)   I was really excited because it was only my second time participating in the challenge.  So... this week I just had to make a card.  The challenge this week is titled Classic Elegance and we are challenged to use red, black and white or cream.  I decided to go with red, black & white.

For my card I used some fairly new Layers of Colors cling stamps, Victorian Frame & Floweret.  The Victorian Frame stamp was designed to be used with one of my favorite Spellbinders die, Labels 14.  I stamped the frame twice on white cardstock, one time in black and the second time in red and then die cut each using the largest Labels 14 die for the black frame and the third largest die to cut the red frame.   The floweret image was stamped on the red diecut frame and then again on white cardstock using black ink (Memento Tuxedo Black).  I colored the second image with Copic markers R36, R59, C1 & C2.  This was trimmed out and adhere to the red frame.   A strip of dotted red paper was adhered to the card base and the frames layered on top.  The sentiment from Hero Arts Find Joy set was stamped using black ink.  A couple of rhinestones were added to finish the card.

I'm also going to put the card into the current Play Date Cafe' challenge:  Black & White with a splash of color (player's choice)... red being my color.

A CASE Study @ The Play Date Cafe...

Happy weekend everyone!  In my corner of the world it's a three day weekend for my kids and my older one is very excited about that!

From my post title I hope you figured out that my card is for the combined CASE Study & Play Date Cafe' challenges.  Yes... this week those two fabulous challenge blogs have joined forces to bring us a fantastic challenge and fantastic prizes.   The amazing sponsor of the challenges is Layers of Color Art stamps... a company located here in my home state of Washington!   With Layers of Color being the sponor I just couldn't pass up the chance to use my somewhat neglected LOC stamps.

Because I'm a simple cardmaking gal... I well... simplified things a bit while still keeping to the overall design of February CASE study muse Eva's card.  I used two different LOC clear stamp sets (Flutterescent & Nature Walk) and one of their newer cling stamps Victorian Frame.  The sentiment is from the My Favorite Things set Polka Dot Greetings.   I colored the flowers with the Copic markers:  R46, R89, Y17 & Y19.   Because I went very simple with the card I didn't use any patterned paper.  I added some interest by stamping the flourish from Nature Walk on the card base using Versamark ink.   I stamped the flourish on cream cardstock with Memento Bamboo Leaves, trimmed it out and applied some Old Paper distress ink.

Flutterescent & Get Sketchy 40

It has been a long, long time since I have been able to participate in a Get Sketchy challenge.  Finally I made the time today and made the following card based on the current sketch #40.  Part of the challenge was to make a masculine/father's day card, but after I got the Flutterescent butterfly set from Layers of Color yesterday my heart was set on using it.  The butterflies are gorgeous!  I used the largest one, along with DCWV Mariposa papers for the card.

I stamped the butterfly twice on a piece of Mariposa pp with VersaMark watermark ink and then heat embossed using Filigree white embossing powder.  I stamped the word "Wonderful" in VersaMark, as well, and embossed with the white embossing powder.  The butterflies were trimmed out, layered together and then attached to the card front.  Did a bit of distressing to the pp used on the card as well.   Thanks for taking a peek.  I so appreciate your comments!
