Etsy Inspired + Color Throwdown

Hi, again!  Second post today with a card for the new Etsy Inspired challenge, as well as Color Throwdown.  I haven't done a Color Throwdown challenge in a long time, but when I saw the colors I had just had to take it on.   I just loved the boldness of the red, yellow, black and cream combo... The inspiration piece I chose from the Etsy inspiration store EX Baggage Co. is  the perfect fit for the Color Throwdown colors.  Stamps used are from the Taylored Expression Discover Your Wings set.     Papers are from the October Afternoon Thrift Shop line.  The layout is based on a sketch from Taylored Expressions (TESC135).

I think this card must be the fourth one I have done this week that involves a color challenge!  Not entirely sure why, but I'm lovin' color challenges right now.   Whatever the reason I'm sure having a lot of fun and my mojo seems to be running in high gear!

Thanks for taking a peek...  go get your color on!

Etsy Inspired....

Hello!  A card I made for the current Etsy Inspired challenge.  The inspiration store this week is Fresh Metal.  O la la!! There are some seriously gorgeous handmade necklaces to be found there!  My card is based on this gorgeous necklace made of cream ribbon, pearls and a beautifully jewelled flower!   When I saw my inspiration piece I thought of some K & Co. flower stickers I had purchased recently.   The layout is based on the current sketch from Clean & Simple.  Only stamping on the card is the sentiment.  Papers are from Stampin Up!

Thanks for peeking.... hope your week is off to a great start.

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI Vintage Cream; Patterned Paper:  Stampin Up!; Stamps:  CHF - Sweet Bee; Ink:  Ranger Old Paper & Bundled Sage distress inks; Stickers:  K & Co.

Time to Celebrate...

My card this time works for four different challenges!  Not sure how I managed that one, but I did!  Anyway the challenges are:  EtsyInspired, Waltzingmouse, Sentimental Sundays and a brand spankin' new challenge called Birthday Sundaes.  Birthday Sundaes is a challenge devoted solely to helping us get those birthday cards done!  I found Birthday Sundaes through my bloggy friend, Michelle, who is also on the design team.  Make sure you check them out!

The EtsyInspired shop this week is Dollbirdies, a place you can find all kinds of wonderful handmade fabric items like wristlets, camera bags and passport holders.   My card is based on a beautiful wristlet done in grey and white.   The layout is based on the current Waltzingmouse sketch.  I have wanted to try making a card using a banner and this week's layout gave me that chance.   The challenge at Sentimental Sundays was to make your sentiment the main focus of your card.  Hopefully that was accomplished on this card!  And the Birthday Sundaes challenge is "anything goes" just make sure you have a birthday related sentiment on your card.   So... whew!  That's alot for one little card!  Stamps are from Waltzingmouse and Hero Arts.  I used a little image from the WMS set Victorian Frippery to make the banner and an image from Very Vintage Labels 4.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Thanks for taking a peek...

Etsy Inspired & JUGs

Quick post today with a card for the current Etsy Inspired challenge and for the current JUGs challenge.   The Etsy inspiration store this week is Glow Girl.  A place where you can get really cute handmade coupon holders, totes and snack bags.   I chose as my inspiration piece this picture showing some coupon holders made using black & white damask fabric.  The holders all have really bright and fun interiors.   I chose to use the bright blue accent color for my card.

My card is pretty simple and while I liked it I felt it was just lacking in something.   Then I remembered the JUGS challenge to use the spotligh technique.   I think just the little bit of spotlighting to the card provided the finishing touch.

Thanks for taking a peek...

Esty Inspired + JUGS {again}

I said I really liked the current sketch challenge from JUGs and I meant it.    My second card using the sketch is for this week's Etsy Inspired challenge.   The inspiration Etsy store this week is Daisy Petal Designs.  Another store full of super cute jewelry and hair excessories.   My card was inspired by a really cute headband.   I took a bit of liberty with the inspiration photo, as well as with sketch... This time I put everything in the upper corner, but moved it down a bit.  I didn't go with the color scheme of the inspiration piece, but used a grey/white combo.  I used the super cute Dawn McVey Signature Series set: Dress Form, as well as an image from the Waltzingmouse Labels 3 set and one of those gorgeous paper flowers from Irene's Garden.

Thanks for taking a peek....

Etsy Inspired....

Another quicky post... this time with a card for the Etsy Inspired challenge.  The inspiration shop this week is TooCuteKawaii and boy oh boy are her items ever cute!  I decided to take my inspiration from some hand made flower buttons in pink, yellow, green and lavendar.  Yesterday I got my most recent Stampin Up! order that contained one of the free Sale-a-Bration sets that I got called Sweet Summer.  The perfect set for the inspiration picture.   I kept the card very simple (of course) and did a bit of paper piecing.  The sentiment is from the Stampin Up! set Whimiscal Words.

Thanks for taking a peek... if you have a little girl you must check out the link for TooCuteKawaii!  You won't be sorry!

Etsy Inspired + Moxie Fab

An Etsy Inspired challenge card today... combined with the current Moxie Fab Grey is the New Black challenge.   Our inspiration etsy store this week is Modern Bird.   A site full of gorgeous handmade jewelry pieces.  When I first laid eyes on my inspiration piece a card idea immediately formed in my mind.    But, the question was could I made it work?   Well... I think I did!!    I absolutely LOVE how the card turned out because it turned out exactly as I imagined it would!!    Don't you love it when you card turns out exactly how you planned it??

I did have a bit of a problem photographing the card, though... but I do think this picture does the card justice.
Here is a close up shot of the flower:

Etsy Inspired... Amour

This card is for the current Etsy Inspired challenge.  The Etsy store we are to take our inspiration from is La Pomme.  When I clicked on the link my eyes were immediately drawn to the packets of old french music sheets.  The perfect inspiration for me to use my new Hero Arts cling set Musical Clef.   I stamped the card base (PTI's Soft Stone) with Ranger's Weather Wood distress ink after first stamping it off on some scrap paper.  I inked the edges with Old Page distress ink to give it that aged look.  I used my ODBD tag die to make the tag and stamped it with Weather Wood using the same technique that I used on the card base.  The tag was aged with Old Page ink, as well.  The clef was stamped on Soft Stone with True Black ink, trimmed out and the edges inked with Old Page, as well.  The word "Amour" was stamped on the bottom of the tag with True Black ink.  A bit of PTI's True Black satin ribbon was looped through the top of the tag to finish things off.

Etsy Inspired Challenge

A card today for the current Etsy Inspired Challenge and since I made it a thank you card, I will be putting into the current Hero Arts challenge, as well.  The inspiration shop this week is Tzaddi Shop.  Lots of really cool jewelry designs.  I got my inspiration from this particular piece:

When I first saw it I was immediately reminded of the Hero Arts Fabulous Flourish stamp.  I didn't go with the reddish color of the inspiration piece, but with a burgundy color.  I stamped the flourish using SU! Bravo Burgundy and then added some Scattered Straw distress ink.   The distress ink caused some slight smearing of the burgundy ink which looks really cool IRL.   I added some gold color to the flourish using a Spica glitter pen, but you can't see it.   The thank you sentiment is from the Hero Arts set Thank You Flourishes.

Thanks for taking a peek... we have nothing but rain here in the NW, hope it is drier where you are!

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI True Black & Vintage Cream; SU! Bravo Burgundy; Ink:  SU! Bravo Burgundy; Ranger Scattered Straw Distress ink; PTI True Black; Stamps:  Hero Arts Fabulous Flourish; Thank You Flourishes; KaiserCraft pearls; Spica gold glitter pen

Tryin' Some Shabby Craftin...

and well.... I think I need more practice!  Anyway, I gave it a go and the more I try the better I should get (I hope!), right???   And this one little card is for four (yes four!!) different challenges.  I have always kinda balked at the idea of making a card for more than one challenge and marveled at all those gals who would make one card for like 10 challenges!  But now I'm starting to see the wisdom of their ways....  So my card is for the following challenges:  Etsy Inspired, Stampin' Sisters in Christ, Sentimental Sundays & Waltzingmouse.

The inspiration came from Etsy Inspired and the layout from Waltzingmouse.   The Etsy store this week is Heartsong and I chose this fun little item from her store for my inspiration:

My Hero Arts cling set Two Birds was perfect for the card.  I did some paper piecing using Websters Pages Petite Pages collection Hollywood Vogue/WonderFALL.

The challenge this week at Sentimental Sundays is to use 3 designer papers, 3 buttons and some ribbon.  I managed to accomplish all that, but it was tricky.  For Stampin' Sisters I need to use a sentiment that conveyed encouragment or congratulations... Best Wishes fits the congratulations bill (but barely!).

Thanks for taking a peek...

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI Rustic White; PP:  Websters Pages; Ink:  Ranger Forest Moss Distress ink; Memento Rich Cocoa; Stamps:  Hero Arts & Stampin Up!; Pearl:  Zva Creative; Buttons unknown; Silk Ribbon Creative Impressions

Wreath of Leaves

A post today with a card for two challenges, Etsy Inspired (#114) and Stampin' Sisters in Christ (#65).  When I saw the Etsy inspiration store, Happy Day Designs, and all the beautiful necklaces and bracelets she had I knew I would be doing another CAS card for the challenge.   I browsed the site for a bit and decided on this necklace for my inspiration (see photo).   The beautiful green of the necklace immediately made me think of the Hero Arts cling, Wreath of Leaves and Stampin Up!'s Kiwi Kiss.

Then I checked SSCC to see what would be the new challenge.  Grace set the challenge based on this verse from John 3:30:  "He must become greater; I must be come less".  Interestingly, I had read that verse earlier this past week from a book on parenting.  The challenge is to make either a CAS card (signifying me becoming less); a more is more card (signifying Jesus becoming more) or a CAS version and a more is more version of the same card.  I chose, obviously, to go with the CAS card.   The card base is a 4.5" x 4.5" square cut from Kiwi Kiss cardstock.  I cut a 4"x4" square of white cardstock and stamped the Wreath of Leaves using Kiwi Kiss ink.  Some Hero Arts flower gems were added along with a bow tied from PTI's Simply Chartruse (a good match to Kiwi Kiss) and I was done.

Thanks for taking a peek... hope you had a good weekend.

Supplies:  Cardstock:  Stampin Up! Kiwi Kiss; PTI White; Ink:  Kiwi Kiss; Stamps:  Hero Arts Wreath of Leaves; Gems:  Hero Arts; Ribbon:  PTI Simply Chartruse double stitched.

Cool Blues....

Two cards today for three challenges.   First up is a card I made for the Etsy Inspired challenge (#113).  I haven't been able to do an Etsy Inspired challenge for ages despite my desire to participate!   Inspiration this week comes from Putu Princess Escapes.  My inspiration was taken from this t-shirt.  When I saw it I immediately thought of my Waltzingmouse Asian Garden set.  Because her shirt designs are very clean and simple, I kept my card clean and simple and just stamped the tree trunk in brown and then the rest of the tree using Stampin Up!'s Baja Breeze ink.

My second card is for the current Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge (#64), as well as the Flourishes Warm Winter Wishes challenge (FLLCNOV10).   The SSC challenge was to make a card depicting the weather and since last week I was the fortunate recipient of the ENTIRE November Our Daily Bread Designs release (yay!!) I used the Snowflake background stamp and did some emboss/resist stamping.  The tag was die cut using the new tag die from ODBD (part of my winnings!).   I stamped the sentiment (also ODBD) in Stormy Sky Distress ink, die cut it using a Spellbinders oval and them ink distressed the edges a bit.

Thanks for taking a peek....

Baja Breeze; Palette Burnt Umber; Ranger Stormy Sky & Broken China Distress inks; VersaMark Watermark ink; Ranger Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder; Stamps:  WMS Asian Garden; ODBD Snowflake background & Holly Tag set; Dies:  Spellbinders Sm. Ovals & ODBD tag die; Ribbon:  PTI Enchanted Evening.

An EtsyInspired Paper Play....

The EtsyInspired challenge blog is celebrating it's 100th challenge this week and they have some really super cool prizes to give away.   The Etsy shop that we were to get our inspiration from is Cathy Walter's shop.  Her shop is full of neat little pendants.   For my inspiration I chose this little pendant.  For further inspiration I turned to the current Paper Play challenge recipe of three flowers, two designer papers, one ribbon and one charm.   I have been trying to make a card using all those items for the last week.   The first card had the three flowers, charm & ribbon, but no designer paper.   The 2nd card had the designer paper, ribbon and charm, but no flowers!  Finally I got it right!

I used BasicGrey Origins papers for my card, which is kinda funny because I did my first EtsyInspired challenge last week and used the Origins papers for that card, too.   But they are pretty sweets papers and so fun to use.  The sunflower image is from a new to me stamp company called Repeat Impressions.  On July 28th, the same day I won "Win a Day" from Hero Arts, I won a $25.00 gift certificate from Repeat Impressions!  How cool is that???!!!  I stamped the flower three times and colored it with my Copic markers.  The card layout is loosely based on a sketch from Clean & Simple.

Thanks for taking a peek.... enjoy your day and check out the 100th EtsyInspired challenge... you could win a fabulous prize!

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI white, SU! Old Olive; PP:  BasicGrey Origins; Ribbon:  PTI Dark Choc. twill; Charm:  Lost & Found; corner rounder; Twine; Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa; Copic Markers

EtsyInspired Challenge #99

I am always surprised at the number of challenges that I come across as I wander around the papercrafting world on the internet.  Everyday it seems a new one is popping up.   A new to me challenge blog that I came across recently is the EstyInspired challenge blog.   I found it to be very intriguing and thought I would give it a try.  The Etsy shop that we are to seek our inspiration from is Becky Kazana's shop... full of all kinds of whimsical cake toppers, banners and cards.  For my inspiration I chose her cute little bee hive cake topper. Of course when I saw the bee hive topper I immediately thought of the completely cute Hero Arts set Be Happy.   And to provide some furtehr inspiration I decided to use the current Mojo Monday sketch.  Add some PTI cardstock, BasicGrey Origins pp, a few punches and I was done.

The Etsy Inspired challenge blog will be celebrating their 100th challenge on August 7th and have a some lovely prizes... If you haven't given them a try yet, this might be a good time to do so.   I know I will be.

Thanks for taking a peek... have a lovely day.
