happiness...

Hey friends!!  Happy Wednesday!!  I have a post up on the AJVD blog.  If you want to check it out, please click here.   Back in February I got the PTI Color Pop Floral Make It Market mini kit (say that fast three times, lol!), but hadn't gotten around to using it.  When I saw this week's ColourQ combo I decided to pull out the kit and create a card.  Since one of the ColourQ colors this week is kraft I used one of the kraft cardstock sheets included in the kit.  The flowers were stenciled using Ranger Picked Raspberry and Festive Berries distress ink and then the flower centers were added using the same ink with the stamps.  I don't own a ton of stencils, but I can say that the PTI stencils that came with the kit are very sturdy and I really like that.  Some stencils can be a bit well... flimsy and hard to keep in place.  The leaves were stenciled using Stampin Up! Coastal Cabana and then the centers stamped with the same ink.  I really like how the stenciling turned out.   The sentiment came from another PTI Make It Market mini kit... Garden Gild.  I stamped the large word happiness and then added the smaller sentiments around it.   Once everything was done I die cut the panel using an A Jillian Vance Design Rectangle Backdrop die (the largest one) and then simply adhered it to my card base.  Since this is a spring like card I think I will also add it to the current ChouxChoux Paper Art challenge which is Easter/Spring.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Hey friends!!  Popping in with a quick post.  I'm not one to use digital "stamps" or other types of downloadable images.  I just don't have really good editing software or the time to spend trying to figure out how to enhance the images.  But I really love this little freebie that Lori Hairston gave away recently (you can find it here).  I downloaded her and then spent a little bit of time trying to change the background so that it didn't come out so yellowish.  After using up about five sheets of PTI snow white linen cardstock I finally got a print that I was happy with.   After die cutting the image I kept things simple and just added some Diamond Stickles to the shamrocks.  I die cut some green glitter paper as a mat for the main image.  Green hemp twine was wrapped around the glitter paper and then the piece was adhered at an angle to a white cardstock panel.   The image panel was adhered at an angle as well and then a simple little bow tied from the twine and a light pink paper flower were adhered.  Adding this to Lori's current challenge of  St. Patrick's Day/green (I think I have both covered, lol!), the current Card Concept challenge (I was inspired by the green and shamrocks) in the clean and layered style and the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of a bit o' green.

more merry & bright...

Hey friends!!  Popping in with a card for a few challenges.  Lately my crafting speed has been slow and slower, lol, so it took me about a day to get this card made.  Of course, it doesn't help that I watercolored the background.   I'm playing along with CASology (tree), ColourQ, Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge (holly jolly stamping) and ChouxChoux Paper Art Christmas/Winter challenge.  After my watercolor background had dried sufficiently I stamped it with the fun Concord & 9th Tree Ring background stamp using Delicata Golden Glitz ink.  A little tree from the Concord & 9th Shine Brighter set was stamped over the tree ring using Coastal Cabana ink. I die cut a banner using one of the smaller dies from the MFT Fishtail Flag Stax dies and stamped it with the sentiment.  A second banner was die cut from gold glitter cardstock using the same die, but made slightly bigger, as a mat for the sentiment banner.  The watercolor panel was die cut using my A Jillian Vance Design Polka Dot Background dies.  A second panel was cut from pink cardstock as a layering piece for the main panel.  I added the sentiment banner to the watercolored panel and then some sequins in coral and pink.  The pink panel was adhered to a light grey card base at an angle and the main panel was adhered on top.  The card turned out pretty much how I thought it would, but I think I added a few too many sequins... what do you think?

a couple of things to share...

Hey friends!!  Popping in with a card that I made for a few challenges as well as a little treat bag that I made for the very first ChouxChoux challenge:  fall or Halloween theme.   First up is the card.  I used the colors from this week's ColourQ challenge and the Essentials by Ellen Bokeh Dots stamp set.   Pretty self-explanatory card.  I will be entering it into the current CASology challenge:  circles, as well as Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge to use a stamp and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge:  no designer paper.   The main panel was die cut using the AJVD Polka Dot Rectangle Backdrop dies and I used my brand-spankin' new Big Shot Plus to do the die cutting... YAY!!  So happy to be able to die cut stuff, again!!  After stamping all the circles and dots I added some My Mind's Eye wooden dots to bring in the darkest of the two greys and then mounted the panel on some dark grey cardstock.   The sentiment is from the Essentials by Ellen Fancy Thanks.  Very clean and very simple! I think it would be a great card for a guy.

Next up is the little treat bag.  Several months ago I purchased a treat bag die set from Stampin Up! and finally pulled it out to create a couple of little treat bags.  I made one that I will be sharing at a later date and when I saw the ChouxChoux challenge I decided to finish the second bag I made and post it to that challenge.  The bag was made using paper from the October Afternoon Witch Hazel 8x8 pad.  I also had a package of Witch Hazel ephemera and so I pulled out some pieces to decorate the bag.  I stapled the tickets to the little card an then adhered that to the bag.  Some black, white and orange baker's twine was tied around the bag and then I added the little witch and the black cat.  I added some stickles to the witch's hat, the steam rising from the pot and a little orange clothes pin.  Some orange tissue and a couple of treats were tucked inside.   When I die cut the treat bags with my Big Shot it was a little tricky, but now that I have the Plus I have lots of extra cutting space making it so much easier to cut the bags... yay!!   I will definitely be making more of these little treat bags!!
