Birch Press Design Monday

Happy Memorial Day to everyone here in the US!   Have a wonderful day relaxing and remembering those who gave their all in service to our country.  My younger son is involved in the JROTC program at his high school and spent Saturday morning in a local cemetery pining flags on the graves of people who served in the military.  Proud momma moment!

I do have a post up on the Birch Press Design blog today so I hope you will head over there to check it out.  Here is a little peek:

happy birthday...

Hello!  Popping in with a card that I made for Color Throwdown and I will also be posting it to Seize the Birthday even though I don't really think my card fits the extra theme of make it pop.  Anyway, take a look at what I made.

Last year I bought the Artistically Inked stamp and die bundle from Stampin Up.  I used it once and then like most things I purchase it got put away.  When I saw the pretty CTD color combo I thought about the Artistically Inked bundle and how I could make the colors work.  I think things turned out pretty well.  I used one of the dies from the set as a background for the flowers and leaves.  It was cut from Crumb Cake (kraft) cardstock and adhered to a white die cut rectangle.  I stamped several of the floral images from the set using Pinkfresh Studio Ballet Slippers ink and the leaves using Altenew Silverstone ink.  They were die cut and then layered on the background piece.  I stamped the sentiment in Silverstone and die cut it.  I tied a bow from some light brown bakers twine adhered it to the card and then layered the sentiment on top.    I finished with some Rock Candy stickles glitter glue on the flowers.   I will also post this at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge since they are asking for a sentiment to be added.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

consider this...

Hello!  I'm popping in with a quick share that I made for Freshly Made Sketches and Color Throwdown using the Simon Says Stamp Happy Hello stamp set and the matching dies.  I absolutely love this stamp set!  The fun folk art design just makes me so well, happy, lol!  Take a look at what I made.

I definitely took a bit of license with the FMS layout by using the large heart die from the Happy Hello set.  But I thought it would be perfect to use for the layout.  I stamped the flowers and stems using Pinkfresh Studio ink in Ballerina Slippers and Key Lime and die cut with the matching dies.  I die cut a white rectangle and then adhered the heart so that it hung off the edge.  I stamped the sentiment, then I wrapped bright green twine around the panel and tied it in a bow.  The flowers were arranged on the heart and adhered with liquid adhesive and foam squares where needed.  I finished with a scattering of light pink sequins.

Simon Says Stamp Dear Friend Release!

Hello!  Hope your week is going well.  There is a new release available on the Simon Says Stamp website and it is amazing!  Please check it out the Dear Friend release here.  Simon was so kind and sent me the lovely Fancy Hello die to create with.  I have two cards to share so let's have a look.

The first card features the Fancy Hello die against a background created with the Simon Says Stamp Folk Art Flowers background stamp.  I have had this background stamp for awhile and thought it was perfect to use with the die.   The flowers pop out so you can ink up the leaves in one color and then stamp.  Place the flowers back into the background, ink them up and then stamp again.  It was a little tricky, but I got it done, lol!  I die cut the Fancy Hello from Simon Says Stamp glossy black cardstock multiple times and adhered them together.  The shade portion of the die set was cut from vellum so you can still see all the stamping in the background.  I finished with a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Sunflower Garden stamp set and lots of yellow Nuvo drops.  I'm going to pop this card into the challenge at We Love Stamping as it fits the theme of "in the garden".

For the second card I used the Simon Says Stamp Terrace Floral embossing folder and die combo.  I embossed the background on watercolor cardstock and then watercolored the image that you can cut out with the matching die.  The backround was embossed a second time in white and then I added the die cut piece.  It doesn't look like it, but I did die cut the hello from dark brown cardstock.   I cut several hellos, adhered them together and then added them to the card front.

for all you do...

Hello!  Popping in with a quick share of a card that I made for Freshly Made Sketches and Color Throwdown.  Both challenges were rather challenging for me this time around, but I think I came up with something that worked.  Let me know what you think.

I have mentioned this before, but Scrapbook.com always has some kind of free item that you can get with purchase.    A week or so ago they were offering a pad of patterned paper from Simple Stories and if you spent $20 you could get a floral die set from Sizzix.  Well... I went for it and got both!

The combo from CTD is not one that I would choose to use, but like I said, I wanted to be challenged!  I was going to do some stamping, but decided to do more direct to paper inking to create the lilac, aqua and orange colors.  I used Pinkfresh Studio Apricot and Soft Lilac and Altenew Turquoise for each color I then used one of the floral dies to cut out the different parts.   The leaf dies have two parts to them and originally I die cut the main part from white cardstock and added the layer in black, but I didn't like that.  So I ended up just die cutting the main layer from black.  To get the look of the sketch layout I used a very old Altenew cover plate die called Watercolor Strips and die cut it from white cardstock.  The sentiment is from a cute little Altenew stamp set that I found in my stash that features flowers in a tea cup.  I managed to get the two sentiments lined up pretty well and stamped the first time!    I finished with some sparkling clear sequins.

Thanks for stopping by and happy Mother's day to all the moms out there!

you are always on my mind...

Hello!  Popping in with a quick share of a card that I made for Color Throwdown and Sunday Stamps.  I used some pretty papers from the P13 Four Seasons: Spring pad that feature all the colors from the CTD combo.  And just wondering, but who is now singing "You Were Always On My Mind" by Willie Nelson, lol?!  Anyway... here is my card.

Scrapbook.com always has some kind of freebie that you can get with purchase.  About a month ago they were offering this cute little set of flowers from Spellbinders.  I couldn't resist and ever since they arrived at my house I have wanted to make something with them.  There are actually four layers to the flower, but I decided to only use two, the top layer and the bottom layer.  I die cut them from pink patterned paper and the leaves from a sage green patterned paper from the P13 pad.   I just love that pretty creamy yellow and white polka dot paper!  The floral strip is the reverse side of the polka dot paper and features all the CTD colors.   More patterned paper was die cut with a circle die for a place to arrange my flowers. I used the same pink paper for the sentiment strip that I stamped the sentiment on using brown ink to bring in more brown.  I finished the flowers with yellow Nuvo drops in the center of each flower.  Since my card is full of pastel colors I'm going to add it to the May Flower challenge of pastels!
