Guest Designing for Not 2 Shabby!

Hello!  Popping in to share my first of four cards I will be sharing this month as a guest designer for Not 2 Shabby Shop.  They have lots of fun and playful branded products in their shop, as well as products from other companies.   You can check them out here.  I was contacted by them a few months ago about guesting for them and said yes!   This month I will be creating with products from their monthly paper pad club, as well as using some of their preprinted sentiment strips.  Let's look at the first card I created.

 Aren't those little turtles just the cutest things?  This card will be going to one of my great nieces for sure!  I did make a bit of a mistake in that I should have put the smallest turtle (the one with the ice cream cone) in the center, but sometimes you can still make a rookie mistake, lol.   The turtles are from the Sweet & Playful Turtles ephemera pack and the papers are from the Cute Sea Critters and Playful Prints 6x6 paper pads.  I used the layout from Freshly Made Sketches (did flip it upside down, tho) for the card.  Finished with the sentiment (from Simon Says Stamp) that I stamped on the same paper I used for the main background.  I will also be posting this over at Seize the Birthday as it does have the topping of sweet treats!  This card just makes me smile.  How about you?

a nordic bunny...

 Hello!  I'm popping in to share a card I made for a few challenges:  Color Throwdown, Seize the Birthday and Poppystamps.  I don't often participate in the Poppystamps challenge, but the challenge this month is cute critters and a few months ago I purchased the super cute Nordic Winter Rabbit.  I have been wanting to make something with the dies and the Poppystamps challenge was the perfect vehicle.  The CTD combo was perfect, too!   Let's have a look.

For my bunny I went with a combination of solid cardstock and a bit of patterned paper.  The patterned paper is from the Memory Box Poinsettia Plaid 6x6 pad.   I used the same patterned paper for the circle that the bunny is sitting on.  That was die cut with the Poppystamp Scallop Pinpoint Rings set.  The main body of the bunny was die cut from kraft, as was the outer scalloped ring.  I used my favorite light blue cardstock to die cut the main parts of the bunny's sweater and hat.  I also used the light blue to die cut the background using the Scandinavian Snowflake background die.  I layered that on my white cardstock base, centered my circle element and then finished with my little nordic bunny and a Memory Box preprinted happy birthday label.

Birdsong...

 Hello!  Popping in to share a card that I made for a few challenges:  Freshly Made Sketches and Seize the Birthday.   I recently purchased some products from another 49 and Market collection called Birdsong and I used those for my card.  Let's have a look.

I went through one of the packs of laser cuts from the Birdsong collection and pulled out pieces that I thought would work well with the FMS sketch.  I pulled a neutral piece of patterned paper from the 6x8 Birdsong paper pack for the background.  I stamped the sentiment on the tag and then layered up all the elements on a kraft card base.  Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

happy birthday...

Hello!  Popping in with a card that I made for Color Throwdown and I will also be posting it to Seize the Birthday even though I don't really think my card fits the extra theme of make it pop.  Anyway, take a look at what I made.

Last year I bought the Artistically Inked stamp and die bundle from Stampin Up.  I used it once and then like most things I purchase it got put away.  When I saw the pretty CTD color combo I thought about the Artistically Inked bundle and how I could make the colors work.  I think things turned out pretty well.  I used one of the dies from the set as a background for the flowers and leaves.  It was cut from Crumb Cake (kraft) cardstock and adhered to a white die cut rectangle.  I stamped several of the floral images from the set using Pinkfresh Studio Ballet Slippers ink and the leaves using Altenew Silverstone ink.  They were die cut and then layered on the background piece.  I stamped the sentiment in Silverstone and die cut it.  I tied a bow from some light brown bakers twine adhered it to the card and then layered the sentiment on top.    I finished with some Rock Candy stickles glitter glue on the flowers.   I will also post this at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge since they are asking for a sentiment to be added.

a birthday card...

 Hello!  Popping in with a card that I made for my great niece who turned one this past Sunday (February 5th.)  I used the colors from Color Hues for the card so I will be posting it there.   Take a look at what I made.   The door is almost closed on the current Seize the Birthday, but I will post it there, too.   I did want to say thank you to the Color Hues team for picking the card I entered in the last challenge for a shout out.

I used the Spellbinders alphabet stitching dies and a Spellbinders embossing folder for the background. I used more coral than sage green, but sometimes that is the way things work out right?  Honestly, I couldn't find any sage green cardstock so I just had to go with the sage green floss that I used for the stitching and then added little sage green sequins to the center of the flowers.   The sentiment is from A Jillian Vance design and was embossed in white on vellum.

Spellbinder May Release!

 Hello everyone!  I'm popping in with a clean and simple card that I created using new products from the Spellbinders May release.  It is another wonderful release with a little something for everyone.  If you like to stitch and love the Spellbinders stitching dies, then you definitely need to check out the release because Spellbinders now has alpha stitching dies!  A list of affiliate linked supplies will be at the end of this post.  Using my links allows me to earn a small commission at no cost to you.  Thank you for your support.   Here is today's card:

You can purchase the full alphabet or each letter separately.  Each letter is a set of two dies.  The stitchable die and a shadow layer.  That way you can use the stitching die by itself or with the shadow layer like I did.  I used light blue DMC floss for the stitching on the letters.  I pulled out the Stitched Flower die set and stitched the small flower from the set using a dark blue DMC floss.  The shadows were die cut from Spellbinders Raindrop cardstock.   I used thin foam squares to pop up the letters on the shadows and then adhered the letters to my panel that I had die cut with a rectangle die and then embossed with the embossing folder from the February embossing folder club. Unfortunately it appears that embossing folder is not available.  I finished off the card by adding the stitched flower, the leaves and a sentiment that I had foiled in gold with my Glimmer.   I also added small crystal gems to the center of the flower and the dot on the "i".  I will be adding this to the current Seize the Birthday challenge as I have stitching on my card.

a little cupcake...

Hey friends!!   Can't believe we are already in the middle of July... time sure does fly by doesn't it?   Despite time flying by rapidly I managed to capture enough of it to make a card for a few challenges:  CASology - cupcake, Color Throwdown, CAS(E) this Sketch and Seize the Birthday.  My niece turned 13 this week and so I will be giving her this card along with some birthday $$$.   I admit that I am not the most innovative or creative cardmaker out there, lol!  I tend to take things very literally when it comes to sketches and that is pretty much what happened with the CTS layout.   No harm in that, right?   Since I wanted to make a card with a cupcake on it I looked at the my stamp sets and realized that cupcakes are sorely lacking in my collection, but I managed to locate the one I used in my PTI Blue Skies stamp set.  It even comes with a cute little cherry!!  Die cut all the pieces using the matching dies and stamped them up with purple and pink inks.  Originally the small rectangle was die cut from white cardstock, but then I decided to switch it out for the black and I like it much better.  After adhering the cupcake bottom to the banner I added some silver metallic thread... that took much longer than anticipated, lol!  After adhering all of that I added the cupcake top and cherry using foam dimensionals.  The piece was adhered to white cardstock die cut using my A Jillian Vance Design rectangle polka dot backdrop die.  Added some pink sequins for and mounted it on some cardstock that matched the purple ink (PTI's Winter Wisteria cardstock and ink).

birthday flowers...

Hello friends!!  Popping in with a card I made for several challenges:  Viva La Verve Week 4, ColourQ and Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes.   Don't you like it when you can make one card and have it fit several challenges?  I know I do, lol!!  I love the clean and simple style of the Verve sketch... this is one I may have to use again in the future.  Originally I was going to title this post "birthday bluebells" but then I realized my "bluebells" weren't blue, but pink and pale plum!

All the stamps and dies are from Verve.  I used the Verve sets Framed Florals and Joyful Blooms and the Verve dies Flag It, Bluebells and Pennant Trim.   After die cutting and stamping everything I decided to add in some patterned paper with a neutral background and found this sweet little black and white polka dot paper in the Teresa Collins Hello My Name Is 6x6 pad.  I think it provides a nice break to all the whiteness of the cardstock.  I did a little distressing to the edges of the patterned paper, as well as the main panel.  I popped up the pennant trim as well as one of the bluebells for some additional dimension.

happy birthday to you...

Hey friends!!  Wow... it has been awhile since I last posted.  My desire to do any paper crafting kinda fell off a cliff, lol!!  I tried over the weekend to make a few things but nothing came of it until late on Sunday evening.   I finally came up with a couple of cards that I was happy with.  Sharing one today that I made for the current Seize the Birthday - make the sentiment the focus.

I had thought I was going to get something made for the AAA Card Challenge to make something involving watercoloring, but wasn't able to come up with anything other than two panels that I water colored with some distress inks.   Finally late on Sunday evening I made this card using a fun A Jillian Vance Design set called Celebrate Cake.  I stamped the cake stand in black ink and then added the sentiment using Seedless Preserves distress ink.  Seedless Preserves and Milled Lavender were the two colors I used to water color the panel.  I trimmed down the panel, added the twine and clear sequins.  Mounted it on a light grey card base.
