ODBDSLC133... Gettin' Sketchy!

Hello friends!!  It is Tuesday and that means time for a brand spankin' new Shining the Light challenge!  This week the challenge team is bringing you an absolutely fantastic sketch to spark your creativity!  

For my card I decided to use several of my most favorite ODBD stamp sets, Faith, Butterfly Corner and Butterfly, Single.    The color scheme came from the patterned papers that I used from the brand new My Mind's Eye Lost & Found 3 Oliver 6x6 pad.  I stamped the Butterfly Corner image using SU!'s Marina Mist and then die cut it using a plain Spellbinders die and then matted the image with plain circle die cut from navy blue cardstock.  The butterfly was stamped on white cardstock using More Mustard ink, die cut using the matching ODBD butterfly die and then the edges painted with Diamond Stickles.  A second butterfly was stamped on some of the Oliver patterned paper with More Mustard, die cut with the butterfly die and covered in Diamond Stickles.  Once the butterflies were dry they were layered over the main image.   I stamped the verse from the Faith set using Marina Mist, but it is a little hard to see.  Finished the card off with a fun doily and some lace.

ODBDSLC121... To Sew or Not to Sew...

Hello friends!! Its Tuesday and that means time for a brand new Shining the Light challenge!!  YAY!!!  This week the challenge team is asking you to use stitching (real or faux) on your project.  Because of the Labor Day holiday this challenge will run for two weeks, giving you plenty of time to play along.  This challenge marks the last challenge for our guest designer, Linda, so please make sure to stop by her blog and leave her some love!

Now, I'm going to be really honest when I say that this week's challenge was really difficult for me.  I would love to do real stitching on my cards but unfortunately I don't have the space for a sewing machine... not even a little one.   I'm fairly handy with a needle... I was an avid cross-stitcher, but I kinda ran out of time and so I had to resort to using some patterned paper from Stampin Up! that has stitching on it.     I used the ODBD set The Good Seed for my card.   I pulled colors from the patterned paper to use for the stamping.  The pail image was stamped using So Saffron ink and then the verse was overstamped using Hero Arts Latte chalk ink.  The image was die cut using a Spellbinders circle die and then ink distressed using Ranger's Old Paper distress ink.  The ribbon treatment was created using some cream May Arts crinkle riboon, buttons and twine.

ODBDSLC101 - Silk or Faux Silk

Hey there!!  It's Saturday and that means time for another ODBD Shining the Light challenge!!  The challenge this week continues the month long anniversary challenges that celebrate ODBD's 4th anniversary!!   One of the traditional gifts for the fourth anniversary is silk.  So, the challenge this week is to use silk or faux silk on your project along with ODBD stamps.   ODBD design team member extraordinaire, Angie, has created a fantastic tutorial on the faux silk technique... you can check it out here.  

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a prize, a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs store!! Entries for the prize must be submitted by Friday, March 30th at 8 a.m. EST. One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday.

I had planned on trying the faux silk technique, but unfortunately I kinda ran out of time and so I used some silk ribbon on my card. Thankfully many of my fellow breadsticks were able to create cards using the technique so you will have lots of amazing creations to review.  The stamps are from the ODBD set Faithful Friend which was released this month.  My color choices were determined by the gorgeous Stampin Up! papers that I used.  The papers are from a limited edition paper pack that was only available during SU!'s annual Sale-A-Bration promotion.  So wishing I could get my hands on another paper pack, but alas I cannot.  Anywhoo... the layout for the card comes from this week's Mojo Monday sketch.

Welcome Little One...

Hey there... think I'm finally getting back in the swing of blogging.  Here it is Wednesday and I have a card to post!!  This one is for the current Flourishes release week challenge of New Year, New Challenge.. to make a card using either something to do with time (like father time) or a baby.  I went with the baby theme because I really don't have anything time related in my stamp collection.  For my card I used some Layers of Colors stamps because I don't have any Flourishes stamps that would have fit the bill (insert sad face).  The layout of the card is courtesy of Sketchbook Saturday and the super talented Chupa.

For my card I used some of the final remaining sheets of paper from my My Mind's Eye Lost & Found 2 Sunshine 6x6 pad.  I love the papers in that pad so I'm going to have to make sure I pick up another one here soon.  I chose to use a light aqua striped paper, as well as a black damask paper.  The ink is SU!'s new Pool Party (which is a pretty darn good match to PTI's Aqua Mist!).  Lots of diecutting one this one, too.  I used Spellbinders Labels 16 dies, plain and scalloped circle dies and a fancy tag die.  The ribbon is some yummy May Arts black crinkle ribbon.   The Layers of Colour stamps I used are "Flower Child" and "Starflower Frame".

Color, Color!

Two cards tonight for two color challenges and one CAS challenge.  First up is the card for Color Throwdown 95 and for the current CAS-tastic challenge (CWC006) to put the focus on your sentiment.

I die cut the white and turquoise cardstock using Spellbinder Labels 10 dies.  Stamped one of the images from the WaltzingMouse Stamps set Very Vintage Labels 10 in Memento Rosebud and then stamped the sentiment from CHF's Vintage Butterflies set in Memento Black.  Layer everything with some yummy green satin ribbon from Stamp Simply Ribbon store.

The second card is for ColourQ 35.  Another bright, fun combo from Arielle.  Arielle also challenge us to use a sketch provided by Mercy, MTSC76.   I used a brand new stamp set from The {Stamps} of Life by Stephanie Bernard, called Kites2Fly.
