a three card share...

I almost put a three card monty as my title, lol!  I used to hear that saying, but never really knew what it meant.  So I looked it up and it is a confidence game or con game!  Learn something new, right?!  Anyway, I have three cards to share.  First up is a card for Color Throwdown.  Thanks to some enabling by the super talented Kelly Lunceford I finally broke down and purchased my first products from Ink to Paper.  I used the It's A Sign:  Love & Kindness set along with inks from Catherine Pooler.  The peach ink I used is called Bellini and is very dark so I did some second generation stamping so that the image had the light peach called for in the color combo.  I still have to do some work figuring out the correct way to die cut the little flowers, but felt they were good enough for now.  To make the sentiment stand out more I placed the second sentiment over the peach background and stamped with VersaFine CLAIR Morning Mist.  Arranged everything on a white cardstock panel and I was done.

The next card is for this month's Altenew inspiration challenge.  I wasn't going to enter anything as I couldn't figure out what the colors were, but decided to make something since I could use the sketch.  I stamped the Color A Flower Hydrangea with VersaFine CLAIR Nocturne on watercolor paper, let it dry and then colored the image with Ranger distress inks in Bundled Sage and Chipped Sapphire.  I trimmed down the panel, added some score lines to mimic the sketch and adhered it to a light sandy colored cardstock base.  The sentiment is from the Altenew Label Love set, stamped three times with VersaFine CLAIR Morning Mist, trimmed out and popped up on the image to mimic the square element in the sketch.  I did manage to get gray in to my color scheme dispite not really know what the colors to be used were!  Think I will add this one to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of anything goes.

The final card is for the MFT sketch challenge.  I had previously made a card using the gorgeous Floral Focus image, but had only used part of it because it is easy to cut the piece into two separate pieces.  I'm using the piece that I did not use on today's card.  I colored the image with Copic markers in shades of violet and green.  I die cut the banner using a MFT fishtail flag stax die and stamped the sentiment from another MFT floral set on the banner with VersaFine CLAIR Nocturne ink.  I adhered the image to the banner using glue.  The strips were cut from purple cardstock and for some reason I used the wrong purple!  I had another purple out that went with the colors better, but put it back instead of the one I used.   I adhered the strips and then attached the banner using foam tape and glue dots.  The panel was then adhered to a white cardstock base.  A nice clean and simple take on the sketch!

flowers and a wreath...

Hello!  I'm popping in with a couple of cards today for challenges hosted by different stamp companies.  First up is a card for the May Pinkfresh Studio inspiration challenge.  There is a lovely color palette and we are being asked to create something inspired by a design team member.  I chose Kelly Lunceford.  She is so talented and has such an amazing ability to layer stamped images with die cuts.  I really loved a set of tags that she created with the Believe in Yourself stamps and dies.   I was able to purchase the Believe in Yourself stamps and dies during the Pinkfresh Studio release so I used them for my card.  I don't have a lot of Pinkfresh Studio products so I used other dies for my tag and the background panel.  The tag was die cut from white cardstock and then I inked the edges with Spun Sugar distress oxide ink.  I die cut the panel from light gray cardstock using a rectangle die from A Jillian Vance Design.  That was adhered to a white cardstock base.  I stamped the floral image using VersaFine CLAIR Morning Mist ink and then all the flowers and leaves using inks from Altenew.  I did discover that that large floral image has two flaws in it, but I figured out how to lessen the flaws for future stamping.  After all the flowers and leaves were stamp I die cut the image with the matching die.  I stamped the sentiment also using Morning Mist ink and then die cut it with the layering die that comes in the set.  I love that the die can be used to cut out the stamp sentiment and also used to layer the die cut!   I mounted the die cut piece to the tag using foam dimensionals and then mounted the tag to the gray panel with foam dimensionals, as well.   I also stamped a little separate sentiment on a die cut strip, but couldn't figure out a really good spot for it once I had adhered the word believe.  I ended up putting in down in the right corner.  I finished off the card with a white twine bow and Pretty Pink Posh sequins in sparkling clear.

The second card is for the MFT sketch and color challenges.  I used the outline Grande Greenery die set, as well as a very old MFT hello die.   There is absolutely no stamping on this card!  I die cut the mini scalloped rectangle from light gray cardstock.  I used two AJVD circle dies layered together to crate a little circle frame to act as the base for my wreath.  I then die cut the smaller two outline leaves from light yellow and a medium blue cardstock.  I layered the larger leaves on the bottom and then filled in with the smaller outline leaves.  The hello was die cut three times from dark gray cardstock and adhered together.  I then adhered the word directly to the wreath with glue.   Once everything was dry I used glue to adhered my wreath the light gray panel and then popped the panel up on a white cardstock base.  I finished by adding some tiny light yellow sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and slightly larger blue sequins from Simon Says Stamp.  At one point when I was placing the sequins on the wreath I had gotten up to check on something.  When I came back I didn't pay attention to where I had left my little jar of light yellow sequins and I spilled the majority of the jar on the floor.  I picked up what I could, but most of the sequins ended up in the vacuum cleaner!  I wasn't happy with myself about that, but that is life!

flowers and bunnies...

Well... even though I have lots of time on my hands (just like everyone, lol!) I have been having a hard time getting things made.  Finally in the last couple of days I got several cards made including the two I'm sharing today.  First up is a card for Freshly Made Sketches and Color Throwdown.  I got my Spellbinders March small die kit recently.  I made a card with it that I'm not sharing at this time so I decided to use the kit to make this card for FMS and CTD.   I decided to just have the color in the bunnies and kept everything else white or light gray.  Aren't those little bunnies so cute?  Cutting them in pink and purple kind of reminded me of Peeps.   The set comes with the fun little sentiment "what's up?" so I decided to use that as well and have a totally die cut card.  The light gray rectangle was die cut using a classic Spellbinders rectangle die.  After assembling my bunnies and the carrot I adhered then to my rectangle using foam tape for one of the bunnies and the carrot and then adhering the other bunny with glue.  After adhering the sentiment I popped up the panel on the white cardstock base.

After creating with cute bunnies I decided to pull out my ZIGs and do a little coloring.  I stamped the MFT Flowers in Bloom in VersaFine CLAIR Nocturne and then colored the flowers using one yellow marker and one bright blue marker.  Once I was finished coloring with my ZIGs I added some shading and details with Polychromos color pencils.   The image was die cut with the matching die and then I die cut the celebrate sentiment from dark pink cardstock three times and adhered them together.  I popped up the flowers on a white panel that I die cut with a AJVD rectangle die and then adhered the celebrate over the top per the sketch.  I then stamped the sentiment on vellum with VersaMark watermark ink, applied white embossing powder and then heat set it.  The strip was trimmed out, wrapped around the panel and adhered on the back.  I then adhered the panel to a white cardstock base.   This card is going to the following challenges:  MFT color challenge, MFT sketch challenge and MFT birthday project challenge.  I will also be posting this one to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge.

Fun with MFT...

Hello!  Hope your week is going well!  The other night I sat down and did some watercoloring with several different MFT stamp sets and today I'm sharing two cards that I made using those efforts.  First up is a card for this week's Paper Players challenge which is a lovely sketch.  I used smooth Bristol cardstock and Ranger distress markers to color up the sweet little girl with her umbrella from the MFT/Birdie Brown stamp set called Rain or Shine.  I was thinking of my little niece Kaia and her bright pink Ugg boots as I colored up this sweet little girl!  May just have to send this card to Kaia!  Once I was done I die cut her with the matching die.  Then I found patterned papers that would work with the colors I used for my little girl.  After cutting the rectangles and laying them out on my card base I decided to do a little stenciling with the MFT Mini Raindrop stencil using MFT Blue Breeze ink.  The sentiment was stamped on a strip of white cardstock that I die cut with an A Jillian Vance Design sentiment strip die and then I got to layering up all my elements.  To finish things off I added a little sun peeking out from behind the clouds.  I will also add this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of anything goes.

The second card features a little boy and his umbrella from the MFT/Birdie Brown set called Puddle Jumper.  This card was inspired by my little nephew Max.  He isn't old enough to actually jump in puddles, but I still couldn't help but think of him as I colored this little guy!  I used distress markers to color him, as well.  When he was finished I die cut him with his matching die.  The layout comes from the MFT sketch challenge.  I used the Mini Raindrops stencil on this card, as well.  But this time I used Ranger Texture Paste transparent gloss.  I love the fun shiny raindrops!  I die cut some green polka dot paper (from MFT) with an AJVD slippery slope die and adhered it to my card base.  The sentiment was stamped on another piece of MFT patterned paper and die cut with an MFT fishtail flag stax die.   I colored up a little puddle for my little boy to jump over and then adhered all the pieces to the card base.   May have to send this card off to him, too!

two cards to share...

Hello!  I'm popping in with a couple of cards that I made over the last few days.  I did some watercoloring on both cards.  First up is a card for the current My Favorite Things sketch challenge.  I pulled out the super cute MFT/Birdie Brown Rain or Shine stamp set and colored up one of the sweet little girls from the set using ZIG clean color real brush markers.  I used VersaFine CLAIR in Morning Mist for the stamping.  Once she was done I die cut her with the matching die.  I then watercolored up a small piece of watercolor paper with a dark blue from my Kuretake Gansai Tambi set and die cut a circle from that once it was dry.  The little water splashes were stamped on the scrap left over from the die cutting the circle and then die cut as well.  I used the MFT Mini Raindrop stencil to add raindrops using Ranger texture paste in transparent gloss.  The sentiment was stamped on vellum with watermark ink, embossed in white and die cut with the MFT Slanted Sentiment die.  Once the texture paste was dry I layered up everything on a white cardstock panel and adhered it to a dark blue cardstock base.

The second card is for the April Altenew Inspiration challenge as well as Freshly Made Sketches.  I had wanted to use my Chrysanthemum Build a Flower set, but the colors weren't working for me with the solid images so I fell back on my Coral Charm BAF set and did a little watercoloring using my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors. I pulled my colors from the photos to get that softer look. Once they were dry I die cut the flowers with the matching dies.  To bring in some of the dark blue I splattered my white panel with dark blue paint and embossed the sentiment on dark blue cardstock in white.   Once everything was dry I layered up the flowers, leaves and sentiment per the sketch.  To finish I added some Pretty Pink Posh sparkling clear sequins in two sizes for a little sparkle.  Will be adding this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of sparkle and shine.
