Pretty in Pink

A quick post with a card for the Moxie Fab monochromatic color challenge.   I'm barely getting this card into the challenge.  I thought the colors for the last two weeks.  I had this idea in my head for the longest time and finally got a chance to get it out.  The card isn't exactly how I envisioned it, but I really like it all the same!

One Layer Wednesday...

A quick post with a card for One Layer Wednesday.  I haven't done a card for OLW in several weeks because I have had a hard time coming up with anything good for either challenge.   This week Jennifer gave us a sketch to use for our cards, which was extremely helpful in getting my one layer mojo working again!  I flipped the sketch as I often like to do.   All supplies are from Stampin Up!, except the punch used for the butterfly (Martha Stewart).

Thanks for taking a peek... hope your weekend is off to a good start!

Supplies:  Cardstock:  SU! River Rock; Ink: SU! Old Olive; Stamps:  SU! Just Believe; Punch:  M. Stewart; Pearl:  SU!

I {heart} ColourQ!

I really do!  If you haven't tried ColourQ you really should.  Week after week Arielle finds amazing inspiration photos from which she pulls her color combinations.  One of my favorite things to do on Tuesday morning is click on to the ColourQ blog to see what the new combo will be and to be amazed by what Arielle and the design team have done with the colors.  I am never disappointed!   And much to my glee Arielle has picked me twice to be colourQueen!!   Thank you, Arielle!

This week's combo is gorgeous, but a little tricky for me.  I fell back on a sketch that I used last week for a card I made for the current DeNami Design challenge to help me out.  The stamps are from Memory Box (the wreath) and Hero Arts (the sentiment).  I stamped the wreath using Rich Razzleberry and added little berries using a Memento Potter's Clay marker.  The kraft card base was stamped with CHF's Climbing Vines backgrounder using VersaMark ink.  I did a bit of distressing and finished the card with some of PTI's Terracotta Tile double stitched ribbon.

Thanks for taking a peek...

ODBD + Sentimental Sundays

Posting a card for two challenges:  ODBD Shining the Light (a sketch) and Sentimental Sundays (a color challenge).   The colors we were asked to use are:  Summer Sun, Handsome Hunter, Poppy Parade & Old Olive.  For me, not a group of colors that I found easy to combine.  I thought using the sketch would make it easier, but to be honest it actually made it harder for me.  Oh well... another case of live and learn.  However, in the end I do think that the card turned out rather nice.

I used one of the daffodil images from the Heartfelt Creations set Daffy Daffodils.  The verse is from the ODBD set I am the Way.  I stamped the daffodil on the white cardstock using PTI's Summer Sunrise ink and then stamped the verse over that using SU!'s Old Olive.  In order to make things not look quite so color-blocked I embossed the white cardstock with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and stamped the Poppy Parade strip with CHF backgrounder Climbing Leaves using Versamark ink.    The ribbon is Summer Sunrise, as well.

Thanks for taking a peek....  Finally... I just have to say that I'm still pinching myself over winning the Moxie Fab Grey is the New Black challenge and I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the lovely comments people have been leaving me!  It definitely made my day!

Supplies:  cardstock:  PTI white; SU! Handsome Hunter, Poppy Parade & Old Olive; Ink:  SU! Vintage {?} CR84FN...

My card today uses the current color combo from CR84FN12 combined with the current Stampin Sisters in Christ challenge to make it vintage and the current Card Patterns sketch.   My card, to a certain extent, is about as "vintage" as I can get.  I'm a CAS kinda girl and doing shabby chic/vintage is a real struggle for me.  To make my card fit the vintage idea I ink distressed the edges of the main panel with Ranger's Old Page distress ink.  I also inked the edges of the little flower that I made.  The stamped image (from Hero Arts - Classic Fabric Design) does have a very vintage sort of feel too it.  The addition of some crocheted lace and the pins add a bit more to the vintage look.

I flipped the Card Patterns sketch so that the circle element is on the other side of the card because I have a habit of tying my bows so they end up on the righthand side of the card!  For some reason a bow on the righthand side is just more pleasing to me.    Finally, I'm going to put this in the current Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger challenge as it fits that challenge, as well (sorry I don't have the Trigger graphic... I kinda ran out of room!).   And, eeekk!!  Cath picked my card from last week's Tuesday Trigger challenge as a trigger target!!  How cool is that????

Thanks for taking a peek...  have a Moxie Fab day!!

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI Kraft & white; Stamps:  Hero Arts Classic Fabric Design; Stampin Up! (best wishes sentinment); Ribbon:  May Arts crochet & PTI Sweet Blush grosgrain; PTI flower dies; Stick pins:  Close to My Heart; Ink:  PTI Lavender Moon; Memento Angel Pink; Memento Black

Tuesday Trigger...

A quick post with a card I made for the current Tuesday Trigger challenge at Moxie Fab.  When I looked at the trigger picture I was immediately drawn to the rosettes on the pillow and nothing else.  I like the idea of deconstructing something and wanted to take the image down even further..  So, I made three felt roses using this new rolled flower die that I got from My Favorite Things.   I'm still trying to get the hang of making the flowers look right, but I think these turned out pretty good.

I'm also putting this into the current City Crafter's challenge to make your own flowers.

Thanks for taking a peek....

Its A DeNami Kinda Day...

Two card today that I made using stamps from DeNami Design.  The first card is for the current Sentimental Sundays challenge "winter" or more specifically what winter is like in your part of the world.  Well in my part of the world, the Pacific Northwest, winter means rain!   Occasionally we have snow in the lowlands, but not very often.   So, for my card I got out my super cute DeNami stamp Mimi in the Rain.  I stamped her in Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored her with some Copic Markers (RV00, RV02, Y21, G21, E21 & E37).    My intention had been to use Mimi for the current DeNami sketch challenge, but unfortunately that didn't work out.   The sentiment was computered generated.

So.... darn!  I had to make a second card!  This one for the sketch.  I used one of my favorite DeNami stamps "Leafy Vine Wreath".  I stamped it in Memento Pear Tart and added a bit of color with YG00.  I combined the image with PTI's Simply Chartruse patterned paper and ribbon and kraft cardstock.  A bit of bling was added, as well.   Overall I like how the card turned out.

Both cards are a little breath of spring, I think!   Something we could all use right now!

Thanks for taking a peek....

Supplies:  Mimi card:  Cardstock:  Stampin Up! Pink Pirouette & So Saffron; X-press It Blending paper;  SU! patterned paper; Copic Markers; Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black; Buttons

Deconstructing Color

Two cards today, again, for two color challenges:  ColourQ and Curtain Call.  For both of these challenges I took the cards down to the basics of each color challenge.  There is almost no cardstock and/or patterned paper used for either card other than the white cardstock used to make the cards.  I tried to rely solely on my inks and thankfully I have inks in  pretty much all the colors used.  I did use a bit of patterned paper for my ColourQ card.

First up is my card for ColourQ:  Cherry Cobbler, Poppy Parade, So Saffron & Always Artichoke plus white.  I originally made this particular card for the Splitcoaststampers color challenge and because I liked how well it turned out I decided to make it again, using the ColourQ colors.  Everything used for the card is from Stampin Up!, except the white cardstock which is PTI.  I added a bit of scoring for interest.

The second card is for Curtain Call:  Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi & Pacific Point plus white.  I have the PTI set Dot Spot and immediately thought of it for the card.  I stamped two of the smaller circle/dot images in Real Red & Pumpkin Pie.  I hand cut them out and then roughed up the edges.  I used a Pacific Point cord button to put the two together.  The stem, leaves and sentiment is from a Close to My Heart set With Love.

Its A Heartfelt Wednesday....

Today I have a card that I made using a Heartfelt Creations image I have wanted to use from the moment I saw it, but I never had the chance because of other design team commitments until now.  The stamp is a single stamp called "Winter Corsage" (1229G).  The sentiment is from the HC set:  Inspire Me Sentiments (HCPC3363).

I stamped and colored the image multiple times before I finally committed to the color story that I used here.  This is another card that I absolutely LOVE how it turned out and that makes me one happy stamper!  The following Copic markers were used to color the image:  BV20, BV23, RV32, RV32, Y21, YG93 & YG95.

Thanks for taking a peek...

Supplies:  Cardstock:  PTI white; Stampin Up! Blue; Gina K. Fresh Aspragus; Stamps:  Heartfelt Creations; Copic Markers; Fiskars corner rounder punch; Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black

CR84FN #11

So... the other day I made a card that turned out EXACTLY how I envisioned it would turn out.  Today I have a card that didn't turn out quite how I had envisioned it would.  I still like the card, but well....  I used the current color combo from CR84FN of kraft, brown & red!  I love anything with kraft so doing this challenge was a no-brainer.

I stamped the kraft card base with the Hero Arts Musical background using Versamark ink for the tone on tone effect.  The smaller musical image is also from Hero Arts.  That was stamped on Vintage Cream cardstock using Close to Cocoa ink.  The "love" and heart are from the {Stamps}of Life set Hearts2Build.  Those were stamped using Real Red ink.  I spritzed all three pieces with some Vanilla Smooch.   Some twine, a red button and the Zva crystal flourish finished off the card.

Etsy Inspired + Moxie Fab

An Etsy Inspired challenge card today... combined with the current Moxie Fab Grey is the New Black challenge.   Our inspiration etsy store this week is Modern Bird.   A site full of gorgeous handmade jewelry pieces.  When I first laid eyes on my inspiration piece a card idea immediately formed in my mind.    But, the question was could I made it work?   Well... I think I did!!    I absolutely LOVE how the card turned out because it turned out exactly as I imagined it would!!    Don't you love it when you card turns out exactly how you planned it??

I did have a bit of a problem photographing the card, though... but I do think this picture does the card justice.
Here is a close up shot of the flower:

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday 100th Challenge Blog Hop!

From the time I found the online world of papercrafting Flourishes has been one of my favorite stamp companies.  Month after month they release some of the most beautiful floral image stamp sets out there.  I try to take part in their Timeless Tuesday challenge as often as I can.  Today I'm taking part in their 100th challenge blog hop!   The theme for this challenge is "favorite", ie use your favorite stamps, embellishments, paper, ink, etc.

For my card today I used my most favorite Flourishes stamp set:  Sweet Peas.  The following are some other favorites that I used on my card:  ribbon and Spellbinders dies.  I colored the image with Copic markers (V000, V12, YG93 & YG95), which is fast becoming a favorite way to color things!   I also used my favorite style of cardmaking:  clean & simple!

Thanks for taking a peek today... enjoy the hop!

Embracing Color and CAS...

Two cards today for two different color challenges.   One of my goals this year is to embrace the use of colors outside my comfort zone more.  I'm doing that with both these cards, especially the second card.

The first card is for my favorite color challenge ColourQ.  This week Arielle chose a super fun and bright color combo of Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss, Taken with Teal, Melon Mambo and white.   I'm not a huge fan of Tangerine Tango (or any orange for that matter), but combined with the other colors I totally love it.   I went really CAS for the card which wasn't hard for me to do as CAS is my favorite style of cardmaking.  That's another goal for this year... to really embrace my inner CAS!  Two different Stampin Up! sets were used for the card:  Priceless & Whimsical Words.

The second card is for a new to me color challange:  Curtain Call.  I have been taking a look at the color combos from Curtain Call for several months now and finally decided to play along with this week's combo of Always Artichoke, Marina Mist, Pacific Point, Cherry Cobbler & white.   This combo was harder for me to put together in a good way, but I think I succeeded by keeping it CAS.  I followed the current sketch from Splitcoaststampers for the card, as well.  This card uses a Stampin Up! set called Syle Beautiful.  Love the damask type motifs in this set!

Thanks for taking a peek... hope you embrace color and whatever might be your style of cardmaking!

Heartfelt Wednesday....

Today is an exciting day at Heartfelt Creations.  Five brand new stamp sets are being debuted!  In this post today I will be sharing with you several projects made with some of the new sets.   The following are the sets now available are:  HCPC3359 Daffy DaffodilHCPC3360  Exotic Fuchsia, HCPC3361 Semper Augustus Tulip, HCPC3362 Angel Trumpet Flower and HCPC3362 Inspire Me Sentiments.  And it gets even better because Heartfelt Creations is also debuting an exclusive new die set, HCD 709 Springtime Medley, made for them by Spellbinders that coordinates with all the stamp set listed above!  How awesome is that??    Plus, if you buy the entire release you will save $15.00.... Bonus!!!

My first project was made using HCPC3362 Angel Trumpet Flower and HCPC3363 Inspire Me Sentiments.  I colored the image using my Copic markers (RV93, RV32, RV34, Y21, YG93 and YG95).  I absolutely love how it turned out!  You can't tell in the picture, but I custom colored my clear rhinestones using YG95 to match my color story.

The next project is a little notebook/journal that I made using HCPC3359 Daffy Daffodil set and some yummy Graphic 45 Once Upon A Springtime patterned paper.   I covered the little journal with patterned paper on both the front and back.   I used the single full daffodil image that is found in the set and stamped in on two different patterned papers, trimmed them out and adhered to the piece of cardstock using foam dimensionals.  I stamped the single word "inspire" on a piece of cardstock, punched it out using SU! Modern Label punch, trimmed off one end, inked the edges and adhered that to the journal.  I opened the journal in approximately the middle and then tied some Stampin Up! Always Artichoke seam binding ribbon around the journal.

Thanks for taking a peek.... please check out the Heartfelt Creations blog.  You will be blown away by all the fabulous projects from the design team!!!

Etsy Inspired... Amour

This card is for the current Etsy Inspired challenge.  The Etsy store we are to take our inspiration from is La Pomme.  When I clicked on the link my eyes were immediately drawn to the packets of old french music sheets.  The perfect inspiration for me to use my new Hero Arts cling set Musical Clef.   I stamped the card base (PTI's Soft Stone) with Ranger's Weather Wood distress ink after first stamping it off on some scrap paper.  I inked the edges with Old Page distress ink to give it that aged look.  I used my ODBD tag die to make the tag and stamped it with Weather Wood using the same technique that I used on the card base.  The tag was aged with Old Page ink, as well.  The clef was stamped on Soft Stone with True Black ink, trimmed out and the edges inked with Old Page, as well.  The word "Amour" was stamped on the bottom of the tag with True Black ink.  A bit of PTI's True Black satin ribbon was looped through the top of the tag to finish things off.

Winged Things...

The challenges at both Stampin' Sisters in Christ and Sentimental Sundays involve using things with wings:  butterflies, birds, etc.  Well I recently got the new Graphic 45 8x8 pad called Once Upon a Springtime and it is full of winged things like butterflies, birds and fairies!!  I decided to use the fairies for my card.  This card also fits the current ODBDSLC challenge to use something old and something new.  My old is the lace and the ODBD stamp set and my new is the Graphic 45 paper and the seam binding.

Thanks for taking a peek today!!

Hello Yellow!

This week Susan set a One Layer Wednesday challenge to use yellow.  At first I was like "yellow, why oh why yellow... I have such a hard time photographing yellow"!   Well actually I just have a hard time photographing pretty much anything, but that's another story!    After whining a bit and sulking I decided to check out what other players had posted on Susan's blog.   As I was looking around I saw this card and my idea was born.  I loved the block of yellow on the white card, but decided for my card to move the image to the lower half of my card, tie ribbon above the image to define all the lovely white space on top and stamp the sentiment on the image.  I really LOVE how it turned out and I think the photo turned out pretty good, too!!

Thanks for taking a peek....

ColourQ + 2 Sketches By Lucy

Two cards today.  Both cards use sketches provided by Lucy this week during her New Year Sketch Challenge.  The first card I made using the sketch from day 4 of Lucy's challenge and the colors from the current ColourQ challenge:  black, delightful daffodil, so saffron, soft sky & white.

The second card uses the sketch from day 3 of Lucy's challenge.  I'm going to try to get cards done for days 5, 6 and 7 of Lucy's challenge.  I have really enjoyed her sketches.  They are right up my alley:  clean and simple.   But because they are so very versatile you can "beef" them up with additional layers, etc. if you want.

When I made card #2 I made the mistake of stamping the frame in the brown ink and the sentiment in yellow ink.  I should have done it the other way around, thus making the sentiment easier to see.   Live and learn!  Stamps are from Stampin Up! and My Favorite Things.

Another Simple Card...

This time for the current Waltzingmouse sketch challenge.  I often wish I was the kind of cardmaker who can pile all kinds of lovely trims and bits on a card and make it work, but I'm not.  Nothing wrong with being someone who tends more toward the clean and simple end of cardmaking, though.  While this card is simple I did try to step outside that box and add some trims that I normally don't add, like the crocheted ribbon and the little medallion used on the card, as well.  I'm not completely certain that I like the bow on the card, but card was rather plain looking without it.  There isn't alot of stamping on this card and no sentiment, but that's okay I think.

Thanks for peeking....

Heartfelt Wednesday + JUGs

A card today for the current JUGs sketch challenge using a Heartfelt Creations image.  The Heartfelt Creations image I used is from HCPC572 Clematis/Cottage set.  I got out my Primsa pencils and did some coloring with those.  The patterned paper I used is from Websters Pages (WonderFall/Hollywood Vogue combo collection).  I ink distressed the image with some Ranger Old Paper distress ink.

Thanks for taking a peek.... and thank you so much to those of you who left me such sweet comments on my friendship card!  You all brought a big smile to my face!!

Friends are....

the most wonderful thing!  I'm so glad that I have made some lovely "friends I haven't met, yet" here in the papercrafting world!  Hopefully I will be able to meet some of you in real life one day!  When I made this card today I wasn't necessarily thinking that this would be entered into any challenges, but the more I looked at it the more I realized it fit several out there.  First, it works for the current Sentimental Sundays challenge:  Friendship.  Second it fits the current Flourishes challenge:  flowers.  And third, I used the current Mojo Monday sketch for the card.

I started out by coloring the image from JustRite Stampers (My Garden set) with the following Copic makers:  RV93, RV32, RV34, Y21 & Y17.  I then diecut the image using a plain large Spellbinders circle die.  I stamped the border and diecut it using another plain large Spellbinders circle die and layered the two.  The color story was dictated by the Copic markers.   After looking at the colored image for a bit I pulled out some PTI Lavendar Moon cardstock and saw it was a perfect match.  I followed the sketch pretty closely.

Thanks for taking a peek...  thanks for your friendship!

Happy New Year!!

My first card, well... actually cards, of the year.  I have been wanting to make a card for the current Stamping Sisters In Christ challenge to make a card using inches.  When I was checking out my blogging friend Brenda's blog I saw that she had used a sketch provided by Lucy for a really sweet card she made.  I took a look at Lucy's sketch and my inchie card was finally born.   I ended up making two, though, because I was interested in seeing how the card would work two different ways.  There isn't alot different about them, but that slight difference gives each their own unique look.  The stamps are from The {Stamps} of Life Hearts2Love set. The color combo comes from the Play Date Cafe'.  Both cards will be dropped off with my local OWH shipper, Sandy, later this week.   Here is card #1:

And here is card #2:

Thanks for taking a peek... hope you will let me know what you think!  My personal favorite is card #1.
